I saw Dr Tsai today and hopefully will not ever have to see him again. I told him I was i excruciating pain after waiting 5 months to see a Physiatriast and also doing a ton of physical therapy which was a failure, he just printed out a list of vitamins to take for SEVERE NECK PAIN, told me to stop taking the only inflammation medicine that helps me when I am flared up, and told me to go back to physical therapy, after physical therapy told me they think I have nerve damage. VITAMINS FOR NERVE DAMAGE? Oh he also told me I am getting headaches from the medicine that helps me (which I was having these headaches before I even started this medicine) AND THEN he had the audacity to say "I believe you" and made comments about my pain possibly just being psychological. Please do not see this provider especially if you're waiting months to get an appointment. Go anywhere else. I told him when I had a different diet when I was in Europe most of my symptoms were better and he told me it was because on vacation people feel happier. I can not stand doctors who don't even try. I told him my quality of life is so low because of my pain and wanted to brainstorm options of what could be happening and he tells me to take vitamins. What an embarrassment. Im going to contest this even being charged by my insurance. I have endured severe physical injuries that were not resolved at the time or treated and now I'm being told it's all in my head? My physical therapist and neurologist and primary care have alleged this could be nerve pain and I wanted his opinion. I'm met with "take vitamins"? Avoid this man and anyone else who gaslights you into thinking everything is all in your head.

I was told the appointment had been canceled because they had not received my paperwork and had called to remind me about the appointment and the paperwork on three different occasions. I asked what number they had been calling. It was an incorrect number - off by one digit. Since I'm not in the habit of giving an incorrect version if my own number, it was clear there had been a typo when they input my number. I told the receptionist my correct number and asked that they honor the appointment that day. She said she would go and talk to the doctor. When she returned to the phone, she told me that not only would they not see me as scheduled but that the doctor had said they would not schedule me at all - ever - because they hadn't received my paperwork. While initially I was upset and disappointed, I'm actually quite glad it turned out this way because I wouldn't want to see a doctor who has so little compassion or consideration.

I consulted my own hospitalization's pages to find a doctor whose speciality is Geriatrics. Dr. Peter Schlissler is a prince among men. He had my parents and me in his office...cancer is a group activity, or it should be. The oncologist had no such office or family meeting. Dr. Schlisser spoke at length about my mother's condition and what we could expect. I told my mother to bring prescriptions in a bag, even empty bottles. Dr. Schlissler commented that these prescriptions were all but no longer used, it was no wonder that the medications were not working. There are better things and better dosages. I had tears to think that this doctor not only provided the revelation about the illness itself, but that there was better, pro-active treatment. Dr, Schissler wanted to examine the patient himself. You could see what kind of a person he is when he took the wheel with her wheelchair. He pushed it himself, slowly, chatting with my mother, mindful of her condition, respectful of it. More tears for me. That appointment lasted nearly five hours. He found that she had severe osteoporosis which no other doctor had tested for. He set about protocols to ease her pain, which eased our worry, he gave us a sense of control at long last. It was such a sense of relief to find Dr. Schissler and his medical practice. He restored our family by providing the respect my battle weary parents needed to carry on. Dr. Schissler is gentle and wise. He was there for my mother every step of the way. As surely as he told us at that first appointment that we were no where near ready for Hospice, he later wisely knew when it was the time. Imagine the dignity and grace. Anyone would do a family member or friend a service by having a consultation with Dr. Schissler and Associates. First time I ever had surgery so just wanted to make an informed decision since a local surgeon had informed me it would cost about the same as a well optioned Hyundai sonata 2019. Drove down from New Jersey for the consultation and was scheduled for the following morning. Paid for the procedure with credit card which cost about the same as a decent laptop. Decent and not the latest full featured, high end Apple laptop. Surgery went well took about 2 hours from the moment I walked in until I walked out. Drove to a local restaurant right after and parallel parked. Had lunch. Drove 5 hours home and was back at work 2 days later. Was able to jog in a week and have not had any problems after 4 years. The only problem may have been that I had kept forgetting to be careful about lifting heavy things are putting any stress on the muscles for the first several weeks. Besides a little soreness for the first couple of weeks it was easy to forget about the whole hernia.

I will not speak to his technical abilities as he did not operate upon me. Indifferent is his overall approach. Perhaps it was a bad day. For me, the visit was a waste of time. I always called my patients with critical laboratory results. I had to call his office several times to get the results which also arrived by mail but not until two weeks later. The current Georgetown system is run as a clinic without physician guidance. There are too many impediments to direct physician-patient telephone contact. Perhaps this generation of physicians prefers it this way?

He handles it all from simple ear problems to acoustic neuromas. The office wait was reasonably short and once he comes in you are the complete focus of his attention. I saw Dr. Kim for tinnitus. He spent more time than I expected. Communicated clearly and was very knowledgeable and experienced. This was my first time visiting Medstar Georgetown. The online registration and medical history is easy to fill out. The appointment making process was also easier than I expected. He went over all treatment options. I recommend him highly and I'm glad I was referred to him.

It's a small practice, but I didn't have to wait too long in the waiting room or for Dr. Bicksel. He was very nice, listened to my concerns, tested my symptoms and whatnot, and prescribed me a treatment plan that I'm still undergoing. My issues haven't resolved completely yet, but they are improving and I'm definitely glad that I got checked out by Dr. Bicksel.
