I worked at Tomorrow's World from 1997 to 1999, but I was a customer from 1989 to 2013! I used to work on a Friday Nights and it was heaving! Excitement on kids' faces when they got a game or a video/DVD. They'd then scramble for sweets and popcorn before rushing back to their parents car to get home quick! Adults would get just as excited as the kids - especially if they managed to bag a very new and popular release just as the little "OUT OF STOCK" tag was removed from the display cases - you know what I'm talking about! Hahaha! In my years working there, 99.9% of the time the customers and staff were all very happy with Tomorrow's World and what it offered to local community. £3.50 for a new release Overnight Rental is now an absolute SNIP in comparison to the £15.95 "Rental" for new release on iTunes and Amazon Prime etc. What an absolute shame that "Love Film (Now Amazon Prime)" and "Netflix" contributed to the demise of such an industry, only to massively inflate the costs on movies once the "competition" had been removed. I for one would love to see the re-emergence of such an industry, purely to be a part of the community and re-ignite that excitement of the EVENT of going to the Video Library. I would absolutely work for Tomorrow's World for FREE (the odd night here and there) to get this sadly forgotten industry going once again! Antony - Tomorrow's World Employee 1997-1999

What a lot of DVD rental shops lack is old movies or box-sets which they have plenty of here. Gaming wise, they have a fantastic range of XBox and Wii games but could maybe do with a few more PlayStation titles. Plenty of munchies available too for that long night in!

This is your run of the mill independent DVD shop, selling variety of next gen games and hollywood…read moreDVD's. The rentals are slightly cheaper than the likes of Blockbuster; you can get a DVD/Game to ret for £3.50, or 2 for £5. They've got a loyalty card system to encourage regular renting, although I think blockbuster have the exact same thing as well. The range offered here is perfectly adequate, although nothing that really separates itself from bigger rivals or even shops like Video Box. Thankfully for Tomorrows World though; they are the only DVD shop for a mile or two.

I revisited Video Box today with the intention of renting a film or two. Unfortunately, although as…read morestated in my previous review of this store, the collection of films on offer is excellent, the prices, contrary to what I had believed, were far too high to make actually taking one of them out worth it. The film Fermat's Room, for example, was available to be rented for one night at the price of £3.90, a quite exorbitant fee considering the film can be bought for just £5.98 on amazon. What this store needs to do is lower the price of its items to something closer to the £2 mark, introduce more deals round the store encouraging individuals to rent more items at a time, and increase the duration of time dvds can be taken out for. Until one, or all of the aforementioned occurs, Video Box is worth avoiding, and I say that as someone who rents approximately 10 movies a week.

My experience of this video rental store proves how far everyone's experience is subjective…read more Before I moved, my local dvd rental place was bloody awful. It was slightly cheaper than Video Box, but although it stocked about the same number of films, I would spend half an hour browsing the shelves there and come away with nothing, because I couldn't find a single thing I wanted. Imagine my delight when I entered Video Box! Comparably a video mecca, with a large section of foreign films, and at the back of the store, films organised by director! How super geeky and yet educational and cool at the same time. New releases are admittedly expensive, at going on £4 for a night, but if you rent 2 at once it suddenly gets a lot better, costing you £5 for both, and you can keep them for 2 nights. They also do deals on dvd box sets, like you pay a tenner and get the set for a week. Plus the staff are really nice, and they just look exactly how you would imagine dvd rental store staff to look.

I love well run independents and Wanamingos is a fine example. Nestled in the stunning Port Solent…read moremarina this shop has a vast selection of ever changing gifts, board games, gadgets and novelties. My family and I have been shopping here for over 11 years and every time we visit there is something new. We think this shop is excellent in terms of it's frequently changing selection of items, the superb staff and it's well thought out presentation.. On a side note of the latter, they clearly take pride in cleaning too as the shop is spotless each time we visit. I am of firm belief that this shop is something special, it has a certain 'je ne sais quoi' that games and gifts shops rarely have these days. They advertise themselves as a 'Family Fun and Games Shop' on their website and I think this is absolutley true. I see people of all ages, young children to grandparents who are thoroughly engrossed in all the products as they walk around the shop. An hour passes quickly. My boys are now 17 and 23 and they still like it just as much as the day they first visitedhow many shops can achieve this? I don't think many. The staff I've always found friendly and helpful but more importantly they are knowledgeable; clearly they are trained well and enjoy working there. I often keep tabs on their website as they advertise their latest items and post the latest goings on in Port Solent..a very informative feature. The only thing to note is they don't sell on their website, this doesn't bother me as I live locally but this may be a disappointment for some. Like the other reviewer commented they are open long hours every day so the chance of you finding them closed is very unlikely. In summary, Wanamingos is an absolute one of a kind. I encourage anyone of any age to visit this superb family fun and games shop, you will not be disappointed. I score Wanamingos 5/5 and look forward to my next visit with or without the family.

That said, not all of us can afford to spend our hard earned cash on brand spanking new products, and if it weren't for second hand stores like this 'un, most games would be off the shelves in a couple of months. Gamestar then does something that bigger chains like Game don't do. They sell great games, from many eras at damned decent prices. I picked up a completely unscratched copy of Okami for £10 here, which is practically unheard of! There's plenty of more modern "hardcore" games here to sleight your thirst with, as well as more one off fun purchases. And Gamestar buy back games too, so you could get some extra cash towards your purchases... But if your anything like me, then you'll probably be happier seeing your collection grow ever larger rather than yo-yo with the days of the week. Of course, prices range hugely across the titles and systems, but with buy back deals that can be as little as £1 a night (honestly!), and some seriously cheap gems to be uncovered, you should definitely swing by and see if you can bag yourself a retro/ cult bargain. Go Gamestar!
