A long standing Morrisons supermarket at the top of yeadon high street…read more Very good sized car park (though I have noticed a bit of a struggle during busy times). And a table service cafe too. The supermarket is nicely laid out, you get the smell of baking bread and cooking chickens, but actually enter through the fruit and veg section. Full of the usual Morrison's value and special offers. It has a full range of Market street counters (fish bar, salad, chickens & pies, butchery bakery and cakes) all with staff on hand to help with any queries. My only real annoyance is that this shop has a separate wines and spirits section and an inconsistant policy as to whether you can pay for all your shopping together or if you have to queue twice. The only time this is good is if you go in for booze alone, as you don't get stuck behind a couple of trolley loads at the checkout!

The shop is airy light and clean and the food is good value and high in quality. The prices are very good, I would say of the big 4 supermarkets they are the cheapest and they do offer a lot of buy one get one free offers and other deals which is good. The staff are very nice and helpful, and the atmosphere of the supermarket is good, I would say this one is maybe a little more old fashioned but that is no bad thing. Only down side is that it doesn't sell clothes like the biger supermarkets do but food and home wise it is very good and a great place to do your weekly or monthly shop without breaking the bank.

If, like me, you ever struggle to choose between about three sandwhich options then you may be liable to be frozen in cant-decide panic at the endless choices presented to you by Abu Bakar! Even the halva section appears to be never ending! They sell a wide selection of vegetables, a broad variety of juices, endless rows of pulses, spices, herbs, cakes, bread, jars of pickled items, huge sacks of rice and flour - possibly aimed at businesses but may be handy if you live in a big house, loads of condiments (including some very mysterious and tantalising items such as a pot of chololate and cherry something...spread?...whose ingredients list was in Polish only). Homeware-wise they have pots, pans, crockery and kitchen utensils. There is also a halal meat counter. As Susan mentions, Abu Bakar is aimed at the Aisian community, but for anyone like me with boringly British culinary habits it is a fascinating and exciting place of endless possibilities and obscure and intriguing ingredients.

They often have good deals on fresh fruit like mangoes, and you can pick up all the ingredients you could possibly need to cook a decent curry from scratch. The staff are really helpful, and the nearby parking means it's ideal if you need to do a large shop but don't want to do the supermarket run. Worth stopping by to check out the huge range of exotic fruit juices - hangover heaven.

If that isn't testament enough to their quality then I suggest you pay them a little visit! They sell a range of fresh fruit and veg - pretty much everything that you could desire for your weekly shop - so if you live in the area make that special effort and choose Wrights of Horsforth every time!

Their Morrisons own brand food has really improved, for example their brand of curries are superb. There are many tills and many self-service checkout points that can easily be operated, providing that one isn't purchasing something that they may need to use an ID for or purchasing many items at once. However, if one wishes to buy an item which happens to be reduced, they can not use self-service without manually typing in the barcode as it will not present them with the lowest price. Furthermore, the staff who operate the tills also need to manually insert the barcode into the system which holds up the rest of the shoppers. The staff operating the tills, however, do appear to be extremely friendly. I, personally, would suggest fixing this function which, by the way, doesn't only affect reduced items or other "on offer" items but rather other items too occasionally for no apparent reason. The supermarket does serve its own freshly-baked bread and cookies from the bakery. Today, youths were offering tasters of said cookies which lead to me purchasing some. They, too, seemed to be very nice and helpful people. The bakery is sufficient and the produce seems to taste very nice. There is also a Deli here which is a good thing for those who wish to buy fresh meat. The wide range of items sold here means that it's likely that you'll find what you're looking for. Thanks for reading my review. I hope that you have a nice time shopping here.

That's not to say it's a bad thing, by all means it suggests that they are popular, but judging by the people of Otley this particular branch isn't quite the favourite. Nevertheless, I am not one to sniff at the underdog, more over I am the one who will visit them more so as it often means less queuing! It's always worth a try, after all if the service is no good you've only the need to find that out once. JB Wilkinson & Sons of Otley certainly isn't bad as a local butchers. They appear to have as much of an array of bits as any other butchers, with lots of tasty cuts on show from proper Sunday lunch meats to more day to day bacon style choices. One thing that I thought was particularly cool was that you could purchase ready made mixes for stir fry - thai chicken, pork and beef stir fry mixes for about £4 per lb. That's not too bad as a one off now is it? It was a little disappointing to see things such as Colemans sauce packets on sale, I like to get my indie jams, sauces and chutneys from a local butcher, as opposed to some big company ready made that is packed with preservatives. Still, as I say, not bad for meat and such - especially if you want to miss the queue at Weegmans!

Otley is not as posh as Ilkley, and so Otley's biggest butcher is not as posh as Ilkley's - but it's just as good in its own way. The prices are slightly cheaper all round because the quality isn't strictly as "high" but I doubt many people could really taste the difference. They stock a surprisingly wide variety of meat, and like all good butcher's, they aren't afraid to dispense with a few secret recipe tips when they hand you your chosen slabs of meat. One thing that puts this butcher's above many others in my book is its homemade pastries - I get a little pork pie every time I'm in Otley from here, and it's glorious every time.

Literally, I spent about an hour on the same street as Weegmans simply browsing the charity shops and it never had a slow moment. That, if nothing else, demonstrates the popularity of a place! They stock all the good cuts that you might be looking for and despite being an indie butchers aren't too expensive. It's so frustrating that the huge supermarket chains have grown to the capacity they have today as it really wipes out the need for such caring indie shops like Weegmans. However, by the sheer number of customers, it's good to see that this hasn't been a problem. As well as all the tasty fresh meat produce they serve hot meat sandwiches, yum if you're not vegetarian, and some of the nicest pork pies around. All in all a total gem.

I know Big ASDA at Owlcotes is massive and jampacked all the time but at least it's clean and modern. This ASDA wasn't well stocked at all (I wanted a small pack of medium cheddar and some wholegrain mustard, and had to buy a big pack of the cheese and the posh fancy french label mustard because the other ones had sold out). Two members of staff pushed past me while they were chatting without saying sorry, which I found rude and annoying, and there was just a general feeling of neglect and untidiness. The car parking spaces are super teeny too and my parking's pretty dire at the best of times so I found the whole experience offputting. Holt Park ASDA? Booooo.
