They also have some unique store brand products that you will not be able to find anywhere else. The inventory is consistent for the most part - so if you like a product, oftentimes you'll be able to get more of it in the future and They have an interesting system in place for their shopping carts that effectively prevents people from being lazy and leaving carts everywhere around the parking lot. A quarter gets paid to release a cart. Then you get the quarterback when you return the cart. There's ample parking and handicap spots right near the door. The checkout lines move fast even when people have a ton of items in their cart Also, they don't do free bags ( paper bags or plastic bags). Sometimes they will have empty boxes from stocking the shelves available that people can use. They also have reusable bags for sale. Most people bring their own.

The layout of this store is slightly different and seems to be a little larger than the Allentown store. Four things you need to know: 1) You need to bring your own shopping bags or buy their paper or plastic bags at checkout. If you forget, it's not the end of the world: a full size paper bag is only $.06. 2) You need to put a quarter in the handle of the shopping cart to release it from the other carts (you get the quarter back when you drop off the cart). 3) The large chocolate bars are awesome - they're from Austria. 4) They have a lot of gluten-free, organic, etc. healthier foods at nice prices. From what little I've learned of Aldi, they're based in Germany and follow a European style shopping experience (explaining the shopping cart situation and supplying your own bags). They tend to have one brand choice for all of their products, mostly their own house brand vs. the typical national names. Also, the products tend to come in just one size (like sour cream, cans of beans, etc.) I thought the prices were really good on the things I checked out. The store itself is small; larger than a CVS but way smaller than a full-fledge grocery store. They do have fresh produce, milk, eggs, bread, etc. in addition to canned goods, meats and frozen items. It would be a good place to go if you were planning a party -- they have a lot of selection of heat & eat hors d'oeuvres, cheeses and crackers. They *do not* accept manufacturer's coupons. You *can* get additional cash back from debit purchases like you can at other places (other grocery stores, Target, Walmart, etc.)

Wander through the aisles and the sheer number of vendors will stop you in your tracks. Choices range from farm fresh, homemade, and hand-crafted salads and desserts to local vegetables and ripe seasonal fruits. You'll find fresh poultry and smoky BBQ, poultry pieces and platters, and a full lineup of beef, pork, veal, sausage, and lamb. Add in PA Dutch baked goods still warm from the oven, fresh squeezed juices, gourmet coffees and specialty teas, homemade chocolates, old fashioned candies and snacks, soft pretzels and pretzel wraps, fresh cut lunch meats and cheeses, cream cheese spreads, dairy and eggs, plus organic baking supplies and local honeys--and you've got a marketplace that feels like a feast at every turn. They have a luncheonette, a huge dining room, and offer breakfast all day, lunch and dinner. I picked up some beef jerky, some beef sticks, a bottle of local soda, and some baked goodies.

At the entrance there a handcrafted wooden birdhouses for sale, then once inside you can find individual vendors with a variety of goods including fresh produce, flowers, meats, baked goods, candy, cold cuts, cheese, dairy products, jerky, crepes and coffee & donuts. Additionally, there are a bunch of food vendors with their wonderful scents wafting throughout the market. It'll be tough to choose but good to know that there an options to satisfy whatever you're in the mood. I like the open market floor plan with plenty of seating to eat what you purchase regardless of the vendors. We experienced friendly, quick service at all the places we ate at. We all chose Becca's Coffee & Donuts. We each tried a different specialty drink and none of us were disappointed. They were delicious. And my apple fritter was super fresh and oh-so yummy! My hubby & I both chose pretzel-dough wraps because we had never had them before. I had the eggs, bacon, cheese & hashbrowns and my hubby had the eggs, bacon & sausage. Both were served warm. Comfort brunch: They were delicious and hearty. Totally worth it! The others in our party went for a breakfast burrito and an omelette with toast! Another winner! On the way out, we grabbed some eggnog in a bottle ($2 up charge for the bottle deposit - if you return it, you get the $2 back). Sooooo good! We all left very satisfied -- All the more reason to visit again when in the area! I'm already thinking about what I want to try. *Note: open on Thursday, Friday & Saturday only.
