I went to visit a dear friend in Williamsburg, VA and was able to experience Aldi's on my trip. You either need to purchase paper bags or reusable plastic bags once you have your items. We walked but they had plenty of parking spots. The store has a warehouse feel but is shrunken down into a small little store with no more than about 10-12 isles. They had all the basic food groups represented, including a small wine, beer and cider section. We enjoyed the Pearseccos immensely. No pharmaceutical or apothecary wares could be found in the store though. They did have a nice summer isle with tubes, beach towels etc. I chose self check out and was a little insulted to only have my age checked by the video camera and not a staff person. I kept picturing someone monitoring and saying "Oh double 21!." Card a lady buying Pearseccos next time Aldi's! read more

$6 for a six pack of hard seltzer? Less than 50 cents for a dozen eggs? This place is literally heaven. They carry my favorite kombucha brand, sparkling water and seltzer of many types, and a pretty good selection of beer and wine. Their selection of baked goods is never far from an expiration date, but prices are the lowest of anywhere you'll ever go. The produce can be surprisingly great value, even for out of season options. The frozen food section is a treasure trove- not only do they have some easy meal options, they carry seafood and vegan meat substitutes at unbeatable prices. Pantry staples, boxed and canned goods are the same. You might recognize the packaging on something without recognizing the brand name. They're amazing at having a decent dupe for everything you could want- even for more niche products like Trader Joe's chocolate covered nuts and peanut butter cups. You can pay more but you can't get better. This place is the best. read more

Aldi is excellent for many grocery items. A couple of drawbacks: Its meat selection is no longer price competitive with other stores. Since being remodeled and expanded, the additional aisles are devoted to non-grocery junk. It's my first stop on grocery runs, but it's no longer my only stop. read more

I lost my car key while at the store and the manager told me there was no key as he walked by, and it was rude. He never took down my name and phone number in case the key was found. If not for my husband being in the store still shopping, with another key, I would have been stranded. My husband went back to the store, left his name and phone number, and he was soon contacted by an assistant manager. The key was found, and we hope to retrieve it soon. We very much appreciate the follow up. Aldis is not my first choice for produce shopping, but I did get a great deal on several packs of tomatoes for $8. Cucumbers were also a good deal. There are definitely deals to be had, although most of my purchases are made elsewhere. read more

Aldi has way exceeded my expectations with its rock bottom prices, quality selection of items that I like and above average customer service. I admit that I was a bit skeptical when I first found out Aldi was coming to Williamsburg. From what I had heard about the chain, I was expecting a bargain store with random knick knacks. I figured I'd come from time to time to pick up select inexpensive items. While it's certainly a bargain and has a smaller footprint than traditional grocery stores, it has literally everything I stock my kitchen with- from pita chips to strong coffee, fresh meats to cab sav. The flow of the store is very simple and the aisles are wide. It's cheaper AND a much less stressful experience than shopping at Wally World. read more

This is not your typical Aldi! All I can say is WOW! This place is huge and the selection including having alcohol is truly fabulous! Rented a condo for a week during the summer with my teenage son my adopted kids ( his best friends and fellow football teammates ) ! Let's just say it was wonderful to be able feed three teenage offensive and defensive linemen and not go broke! Lol truly everything was fabulous from the take and bake pizzas to the cheeses and fresh fruits and veggies! The chicken and pork chops and ribs were outstanding ! Love being able to save money on groceries. Shelves are generally well kept and the staff are friendly. The only drawbacks that arent exclusive to this location are that there is no dedicated customer support and the cash register lines arent optimally utilized. If there were self checkout aisles, that would remedy this situation and if there was a dedicated kiosk for customer support. The plus side is that the in house chips are pretty good. read more

Super pleased with this extremely popular and easily accessible prime location of this particular ALDI's. When I arrived, I was extremely hesitant to go in due to their private parking with it being almost completely full. However, I went for it anyways...and was glad I did! Though there were a lot of shoppers, it was easy to get what I needed, and there were enough staff at the front to make the transaction go more quickly and smoothly then expected! I really want to like this place. I have been here twice. Today, I went and had another bad experience. They are remodeling, I get that, no problem...however, 3/4 of the shelves were empty. I was willing to let that go, even though if you have that little to sell, just put a sign up that you are closed for remodeling. Anyway, the biggest problem was the staff. The whole time my daughter and I were there, we felt like we were unwanted. One girl slammed her loading cart into our shopping cart after making us feel like we were just in her way as we were shopping. Then the cashier was so rude. Her name is Grier. She used her fingers to motion for me to hurry up and get my items on the conveyor belt, she didn't say a word while ringing up my stuff, then started ringing up the next person as she stuck her arm out at me with my receipt. Before she did that, she grabbed the shopping cart from my daughter. I know people really like this place, but I won't shop where they treat you so poorly. We left there and stopped at Food Lion in Toano. We weren't there very long and 3 staff members spoke to us, asked if we needed help, and offered to take out groceries out to our vehicle. What a differenccompared to Aldi. Aldi, you can do better than this. Train your staff to have manners and to to treat their customers with common respect. read more

It's very refreshing and a change of pace for grocery shopping. Staff is very friendly and courteous, store is well stocked with healthy choices, produce is very fresh, and store is clean and bright. When I left the ladies rm. a manager was standing only 1 foot from the door. She walked in fast. I realized in a few minutes that my wedding ring was still in there probably on the changing baby area, due to washing. I asked her when she came out if she found jewelry because just before I saw her holding it as she put it in her pocket. She needs to give it to the local police for me. Its the right thing to do especially when its a ring .I would never do such a thing. My intentions are not to criminalize her because I said jewelry instead of rin,but I noticed her face looked strange as she kept it. read more

This has become my first-stop local grocery. Yes, the prices are phenomenal, but it's the high quality that keeps me coming back! If you need specialty items like low-sodium canned goods or unusual spices, you probably won't find them here, but for the bulk of what I buy--fresh produce, dairy, meat, bakery, even some frozen food--Aldi is hard to beat! They always have interesting seasonal items. And they really zip you through checkout. I don't mind doing the bagging myself at the large counter, and I really appreciate the 25 cent deposit carts that keep the parking lot tidy. Love. This. Store. read more

I am loving Aldi's! Here is a nice, small grocery store where you can easily pleased class up what you need quickly and get out. There is not much selection regarding brands, but that is what makes this a great quick stop. I have purchased fresh meat, produce, wine and some of the packaged goods and have been very pleased. I like that you bring your own bags and that you have to deposit a quarter to get a cart. I HATE it when people leave carts all over the parking lots. Anyhow, great new option!! read more

We often shop at Aldi grocery stores in the Washington, DC area. We happened to be in Williamsburg as it was shutting down during the coronavirus pandemic. We were delighted to find the local Aldi was fully-stocked (no toilet paper shortage!) and many staff members were on-duty. Prices, as usual, represented a very good value. read more

We are very a happy with the food at Aldi's. Many organic and gluten free foods. Meats are so fresh and reasonably prices. Pizza's have thin crusts and very gourmet. They feature specialty items weekly that are so excellent, like European cookies and cakes. A lot of the pasta and noodles is like home made. Does not have the biggest selections of everything but all that is offered is very high quality and delicious. read more

I just bought some groceries today and went to open the asparagus and it was rotten. The tips of the asparagus were mushy and it smelled of fish. I don't have time to take it back again but, I am very disappointed. read more
