It was a nice little hour drive and upon arrival we see peaches, and peaches and more peaches. But, they also have preserves, honey, sauces, syrup, pickled vegetables, fresh vegetables. I had fun just looking at all of the canned goodies, and then when I went to check out, I was offered a zucchini bread and a warm cobbler taken out of the oven at that moment. So, yes, my greedy self bought the peach cobbler and I have to say that it's one of the best cobblers I ever had. I'm all about the crust and it has a beautiful tasty crust. Heck, I'm eating cobbler now with my coffee and relaxing back at home. The peaches are a good size and in one to two days they will be absolutely juicy and fully ripe. It's a great place to visit!

We drove all the way out to Mexia to the Lightsley Farm for some fresh persimmons on our way back…read morefrom the TCU - Baylor game... GO FROGS! When we arrived we met Mary who is the third generation to run the family farm. She gave us some history of the farm, some free samples and some good conversation about growing persimmons. We got here just in time as it's the end of the season and the boxes you see in the pictures were all that were left. Here for only $38 you can buy a whole box of Fuyu persimmons. They have other varieties too, and we recommend the Fuyu because it is non-astringent. And, if they have them, pick-up a bag of their fresh pecans for $10 a bag. They were very flavorful, with hints of maple syrup. We had to force ourselves to stop eating them or we would have been without a pecan pie this Thanksgiving. If you're in the area make the stop for some fresh off the farm fruits and vegetables.
