It also has an ice cream parlor attached. I spoke to the owner and she was so sweet. She shared with me the location where to pick the peaches, she shared the history of the orchard, and she also picked me a watermelon. I don't typically buy them and don't know how to pick them. This location isn't where right off the main road. It's like a Farmer's Market. You get to try some fruit that they have labeled. It's really nice and I will be back before the season is over.

Instead of just answering, I was met with a judgmental look and told, "Yes, but theres a surcharge-and we don't take EBT or food vouchers". That response was unnecessary and honestly offensive. I didn't ask about assistance programs, and there was no reason to bring that up. If felt like an assumption was made about me the moment I walked in. Let me be clear: there is nothing wrong with people who use EBT or need assistance. What is wrong is making assumptions about someone and speaking to them in a way that reflects bias or prejudice. For context, I'm a regsitered nurse-someone who works hard, contributes to my community and deserves to be treated with the same respect as anyone else who walks through that door. If you run a business-especially one that depends on the community-how you treat people matters. Respect should never be optional. Do better.

Their sign reads "best Asian market in town". Now, of course, anything that calls itself the "best…read more**** in town" leaves me skeptical. But...after stopping in while visiting family in Taylors, I may be forced to agree with the sign. What a tremendous selection! One caveat...this is only the "best Asian market in town" if you are looking for Chinese/Vietnamese ingredients. For this, they win simply because they are HUGE and therefore stock tons of ingredients. If you are looking for Thai, Korean, Malaysian, etc...you're best bet is still probably Saigon Market (closer to downtown on Wade Hampton)...and I'm STILL looking for a local market that offers fresh Kafir lime leaves (truly, a crucial component to a delicious "Tom Yum" soup...shrimp or chicken). Alas, my search continues....

They had everything I was looking for. They had Kimchee!!! And shrimp chips, shin ramen, and even Asian non grocery items, like asian shampoos, soaps, dishes, and even a pair of shoes!!! I went and explored the whole grocery store with a friend that introduced me to the place, and we were in there for an hour!!! I will be going back over and over again. Very pleased to have found another Asian Grocery Store in Non Asia South Carolina. They are located only 1/2 a mile from Walmart on Wade Hampton in Taylors and they are on the same side as Walmart behind the BB&T Bank in a little shopping plaza. So go check them out today! They take debit, but only with a $10.00 minimum.

I have seen this food trailer parked in front of Strossner's Bakery at the corner of Roper Mountain…read moreRoad and Congaree road for quite some time. A few months ago, I noted that this was a fresh seafood distributor. Or, as the owner Jason Janson would say, "your personal seafood purveyor." Which is both really cool and convenient - really cool because I have always wanted a personal seafood purveyor, even when I didn't know that I needed one (kind of like the ATM before there was an ATM) and convenient, because he is on my way to and from the gym every Saturday morning at 11AM (opening time). Prior to this first visit, I had scoped out his seafood offering on Facebook. There are several good selections, mostly all from the Carolina Coast, with the exception of some lobster tails, or halibut collars, or such specialty items. What makes this personal is that you can go to www.broadwatershrimp.com and join their email list and do pre-orders from there. This is a handy piece of information. I arrived for my first visit after seeing that they had live soft shell crab available and it is peak season right now. Fortunately for me, there were only six available soft shell crab that had not been on a pre-order. And I showed up at 10:30AM, so I was a bit early. They had pre-orders for 32 crab and had 38 on hand. My lucky day. Even at $12 each, still a bargain for this delicacy. All the other seafood looked fresh and excellent, but I was tapped out on seafood for today's budget. Other items are reasonable, but this is special. Jason also sets up on Friday's at the Swamp Rabbit Cafe from 11AM to 4PM but check his website or FB page as this is a full mobile market but also a pop-up location situation that may change. Jason mentioned he is also a personal chef and will be doing a full on Master's golf food spread for a client come this Sunday's final round of the Master's 2024! This seafood market and his personal chef are his primary income, so get out to visit and support this excellent market so we can have it around as an option!
