My first time with Aldi's in entire Texas. Couple years ago when I was working in Pittsburgh, Aldi's was my walkable go- to store. But with Kroger and Heb here , Aldi's never even crossed my mind. Today, I decided to try it out. One thing I had completely forgotten was their quarter carts. U want a cart u put in a quarter, If I remember correctly, it comes back when u put the cart back in its place. They don't keep plastic bags, they do carry shopping bags for purchase. A little step towards environment. Nice. Prices were competitive, and quality good . They do have Aldi brand products as well. There's chips, cookies, sauces, and do much more. Their fruits and vegetables are also an extensive choice of most commonly used groceries. There is no self checkout. A personal touch of the cashier's smile is a must for all. I am SO sad there is no Aldi within six hours of my home (insert real tears!!). I saw a store within walking distance of our hotel and Aldi was crowned as our snack destination for the week! Aldi reminds me of Trader Joe's and Walmart having a child lol. I loved my shopping experience! Good selections, GREAT prices and friendly service. Since the days of Covid and the one-way traffic through the store has ended long ago so I decided to update my Aldi review. I love Aldi and probably come here 2-3x per week. Aldi prices are the best around. I do about 80% of my shopping here. The main time other stores will beat the prices here are the sale items (such as when H‑E‑B will have a certain kind of apples on sale for .77/lb) I love the simplicity of the items. If you want garbanzo beans, there's one brand. If you want ketchup, one brand. You get the picture. The workers here are AMAZING. I have never met one that wasn't friendly. One worker recently was so kind, it literally brought me to tears. Can't wait to come back! read more

I have been going to this location for sometime since they opened. I have never really had any sort of issues. Today, I needed to get some Zucchini. They are usually in bags of 2. Some of the bags had 3 some had 1 when I headed over. I asked one of the store associates if I could just take one. She agreed and that's what I did. The store manager came over and said it was by the pound only. I have to take the entire bag. She kept looking at me like I was shoplifting or something. I just decided not to take the zucchini. When I got to the counter she was standing by the cashiers looking at me. I told her to look that some had less and some had more in the bags. She said you can't take anything out of the bags. As I was paying she went through all the bags of Zucchini in the aisle. Seemed like she thought I shoplifted or something. The entire time this manager had her eyes on me like I did something wrong. I have seen many people not take the entire bag of grapes put some back in the same bags no one says anything. My intention is always to purchase what I buy but sometimes the bagged goods have spoiled stuff. Yet they still have it in the bags and are put out on the aisles for purchase. Same concept for eggs. Often the store has eggs that have cracks yet it still in the carton. So yes I am going to check. Call me out for it. I am never going back to this location.Their are always long lines here and you have to sort of wait. And the wait is long especially during the weekends or the holidays. Overall the associates are really nice but this manager was just gutting me out. For me this experience was humiliating. Not everyone will have the same experience like I did. read more

Clean, stocked and cheap AF! I started coming here just before the changes started taking place, and largely it has not changed. Lines are short, and they move quickly. The staff is friendly, and they are now wiping the carts down as you walk in with them. I brought my own reusable bags so I that was easy enough. AND THE PRICES ARE SO LOW FOR GOOD STUFF! Yes, your charcuterie needs will be met here without breaking your bank! Produce, frozens, and household items all in a space slightly bigger than a suburban backyard. Just tried Aldi for the first time today. I really, really wanted to like this place but they just make it so hard! I finally figured it that it cost a quarter to have a shopping cart. I didn't have a quarter so I had to go in to make change. No big deal. The store was completely disorganized and it's impossible to find stuff because nothing is by department. You will find soda for instance in about 20 different places in the store. Again annoying but no big deal. My biggest problem came when it was time to check out. Only 1 checker and the line literally ran almost the entire width of the store. He was asked to call others but said no. After waiting about 25 minutes in line if was finally my turn... until some man ran up and plopped his stuff down and cut in front of all of us. The entire line started complaining. I thought the checker would kindly send him to the end of the line but NO he said something like "it's ok" and let him cut! I was shocked at the lack of respect the cashier had for those of us that waited our turn. Then he threw the items into the cart and didn't even bag my stuff. Thrown in again with lack of respect. Moral of the story... don't wait in line, just cut at the cashiers will disrespect others for ya. read more

Sure the carts are 25¢ and the grocery bags are 6¢ but the bags are reusable so you will get your 6¢ worth. You can always bring your own bags as well. It's small and not a huge selection. The few things I did get we're very reasonably priced, spices for 33¢ and zip lock bags for $1.44. Pretty good, I'd say. It may not be the one stop kind of shop but great for a few things to get a great meal going. I loved my first visit and I will be back :) read more

I love a good bargain, and in this economy, Aldi is right on. My first time in was on a Friday, and I think it was a week or two after the grand opening. I had heard the size of the store was comparable to a CVS. That was about right. That day, there were employees outside giving out quarters and carts. (You pay a deposit of 25 cents to get the cart and you get your quarter back when you return it.) I thought that was pretty nice. When you first go in, you're already in an aisle. It consists of snacks, cereals and similar foods. Most of the products are Aldi's own generic lines, but interspersed you can find name brands like M&Ms, Haribo, Cheerios, etc. The prices are really low, which is probably their biggest draw. At the end of the aisle, you'll find a small wall of wines and spirits. I was able to score a bottle of Riesling for $5. (The second time I went, I didn't see it on the shelf.) Turning left, you go down the baking/spice aisle. You'll find a small selection of spices and baking goods like sugar, stevia, oils, etc. Further down that aisle (back towards the cash registers) you'll find drinks, juices, sports drinks, etc. Turning right and back down the next aisle, you should find things like canned goods. I don't buy canned goods, so it didn't really interest me. Halfway down the aisle on the end cap is a tiny section of beauty/healthcare items like razors, diapers, wipes, soap, shampoo and toothpaste. Across from that is the produce section. It's pretty small, but has your basic selection of fruits and veggies, with apples, tomatoes, lettuce, carrots, potatoes, grapes, etc. I didn't see any organic choices, so I stuck with fruit that has a tough outer peel (mandarin oranges). They stocked mangoes (two kinds!) and pineapples and avocados too! Flanking the produce section is a small freezer section with "value" priced foods. I think these are specials you'll see in the circular. On the back wall you'll find meat and cheeses. I was able to get Jennie-O ground turkey for $3.49! Their dairy section is pretty good, too. The first time I went I didn't notice their sign, but on our second trip I noticed that they use growth hormone-free dairy. That is really important to my husband and me so we bought some butter and whipped cream. They have a pretty good frozen food section as well. We tried their ice cream and picked up some frozen wild caught salmon. The ice cream is all natural and tastes almost as good as a name brand. A few things to know before you go: they do NOT accept credit cards. I found this out via their facebook page; credit card companies charge fees for this service, so in order to keep prices down, they do not accept them. They do take debit cards, though. Also, they don't bag your groceries for you. The clerks will just scan your items and put them back in your cart. You do the bagging after you've checked out. You can either buy bags (6 or 10 cents each for regular plastic ones and 79 cents for an insulated one), bring your own, or take some boxes from the bin in front. Another thing, if it's busy (which it probably will be unless you go at a weird time), the carts are just TOO big for the store. I would suggest not getting one because you will be frustrated when navigating the small aisles. My cousin, who lives in Germany, says that Aldi is German and it has a Walmart-like reputation. I'd say she's about right. If you're looking for good prices on generic-type foods, give it a try. If you like a bargain, this is right up your alley! read more

Aldi follows the lead of places like Sams and Ikea - fair items, better prices, and self-service...nothing fancy. Grand opening (April 11) meant the parking lot and store was bustling with patrons. Once you park, bring in (1) your debit card, (2) a quarter deposit for a shopping cart, and (3) your reusable shopping bags. But if you don't like maneuvering a cart thru narrow-ish aisles, 86 it. Inside you'll find a SEGMENTED SELECTION of generic/unfamiliar brands of popular food items...cereals, cookies, juices, canned goods, fresh produce, dairy, etc. You may also spot a few familiar brands with competitive prices too. Not sure how well their house brands rate yet. Will update... So many people were buckled around the produce section I didn't even get to checkout the 99¢ strawberries. I did grab the $1.89 milk tho. Also a mention there were a few random sellers like lawn chairs and tomato plants. There was plenty of staffers checking out and bagging our goods, specifically noting that the bags are typically 6¢ each (and/or reusable) and you bag your own purchases. Not sure if this is always the case, but at the opening they did NOT take credit cards...cash and debit only (or food stamps type). This is a good place for a quick stock-up. read more

Not a fan. Produce section is small. Organic selection is limited. Meats, deli, dairy, are not impressive. Most everything looks like off-brands of processed, packaged goods. Unfortunately with HEB Plus, Kroger, Walmart, and Target within a mile radius, this area is saturated with "cheap" groceries. I wouldn't expect it to last long. read more

Update to my previous review on ALDI written on 2/19/15: I am changing my original 4-star to 5-star. Why? I believe that this store deserves a second look. While I am no fan in Europe (because we have Tesco and Lidl, too), and I agree on the storage facility look-a-like interior with no wide line on organics and other products, a few more things that I noticed today: 1. Cheap pizza (1.20 kg for $5.99) - moving, having party, or just for dinner for a family, it is a great bargain. 2. Cheese 3. Ham 4. Pineapple was still for $0.99 5. Got more chocolate 6. Vegetable chips 7. Cheaper orange juice 8. Cheaper milk 9. Cheaper hummus 10. Cheaper ravioli 11. Cheaper chicken/beef/pork I am sure there are many more to consider, but now that I have more time to walk around, these were the major things that I noticed. I took my shopping bag with me (I always have a large one in my car's trunk), but the Aldi plastic bags are so great (for 6, 10, and I think 23 cents), that I had to buy a few. Really? This grocery store reminds me of a warehouse where the items are just dropped in pallets on the floor. It might be European but all the items are the same as a normal grocery store but with different brand names. The prices are a bit cheaper but everything is packaged and nothing is fresh. read more

Today was my first experience shopping at Aldi. Besides the store being well kept exceeding my expectations of a grocery store, every employee there was actively fulfilling there responsibilities. They were efficient and fast, unnoticeable but within reach should a customer need help. There were two specific employees in particular that grasped my attention. One was in check out line two and the other (Matthew). As I took my place in line at register two, swarms of other customers soon followed behind me. The employee at line two quickly determined the need for help and responded appropriately by requesting a second line be opened. Almost immediately another employee appeared as I was directed to his line. Matthew showed tremendous expertise in checking out my groceries which I would like to highlight. He was extremely fast, delicate and considerate with them. I am someone who absolutely hates cross contamination and often find myself reorganizing my groceries to avoid this. However, I was thoroughly surprised to find that he did an exceptional job in organizing my cart as to avoid cross contamination. And before I could even begin to bag my groceries he was already finished with my large transaction. I stepped out of the store and decided to go back in to ask where to leave a review and again I was surprised to find that both employees had dealt with there lines in probably 5 minutes. While it is not my place to decide, I think they should receive some form of recognition or a raise to reinforce such diligence. Shopped there last Sunday. Store was in desperate need of being restocked. A few loaves of bread were in stock, but no hotdog or hamburg rolls. No specialty bread. A few cartons of eggs that looked like they had been picked through a few times. And the BEST was the ROTTEN tomatoes that were carefully packaged so you could not see how rotten they were until you opened the package. I think I will stick with Kroger and HEB because rotten food is no value. read more

Bring a quarter for a basket. Bring your own bags. Bring only cash ot debit. You bring those three things with you and you will get yourself the best grocery deal in pearland. I coupon and I can tell you aldis prices are the best on most items. No they don't have EVERYTHING, no they don't carry brand names, and yes you have to bag your own groceries. All of these things are done to give you the best possible deal/price. Some of our favorite finds have been the veggies chips, devils food cookies, their gatorade, cheap fresh veggies/fruit, milk, and eggs. read more

The Lake Jackson Texas Aldi is the CHEAPEST grocery store in town. And by cheap I do not mean cheap prices, though they do have some cheap prices on limited items. I mean that dealing with their quirks is like going to eat with you cheap friend that always forgot her credit card. They start by chargung you a quarter to get a shopping cart to use, and you only get that quarter back if you return the cart AND figure out how to work the locking mechanism that releases your trapped quarter. There are no instructions to the lock. Then you enter the store and see posted ads for the weekly specials, but these are ads for items that will only be available in the store the FOLLOWING week, and then in VERY limited quantities. So when you come back next Wednesday for those .69 cent chicken thighs, they tell you that both packets they had were sold earlier that morning. You end up feeling like you need to wait in Black Friday lines just to get inexpensive chicken thighs. Wow, REALLY??? So you ask to complain to a manager and there is never one there, and no phone number to call. The manager apparently works Monday-Friday from 6 to 3 pm. So you buy a gallon of milk and bread and go to the checkout line, where they inform you that since you did not bring your own bags, they will CHARGE YOU FOR FREAKING SHOPPING BAGS! You tell them that you will use that quarter that is trapped in your shopping cart to buy bags if you can ever get it out. Alas, their customer-unfriendly cashier tells you that they would really like to make everything right, but their manager, when in the store, criticizes them for over-serving customers, since they are not being efficient with their time. Honestly, Aldi reminds me of a German version of Walmart, only with poorer customer service. THIS STORE BLOWS! read more

Employees were stocking up during heavy traffic hour, in the already small cramped aisles, but you could see that they were annoyed when you passed by with your cart. One even pushed my cart very forcefully while I was getting something and then gave me a nasty look. I had to go retrieve my cart. Second there was only one cashier opened and once again during a busy hour. Besides that the items are well priced and although it is a small building it has a variety. I've shopped at Aldi in Europe when traveling so I knew what I was getting into when hitting up the Pearland Aldi. I've been to the Pearland location 3 - 4 times. It's a bargain no frills store with limited selection and perks to reduce costs of products. That is the point. I found beef fillets for $2-3 cheaper than HEB. Cheap prices on yogurt, milk, chips, household cleaners, etc. They even have some European beer for a lot cheaper than HEB. I do most of my shopping at HEB but I'll hit up Aldi when they have deals on particular items I need. Bring a quarter for the cart and you get it back when you return the cart. Bring some bags for your groceries, and bag them yourself as the clerk checks you out. They do this so they don't have to hire extra employees whose costs get added onto the price of the products. It's not hard to return a cart (and get your quarter back) or to bag your own groceries. I prefer it as I sort them as I bag in my own bags. I do this at HEB too, though they don't always like it when I do it...I'm quicker. The only thing I don't like is the size of the carts are too large for the size of the isles. It's hard to maneuver through the store, especially when it is crowded. read more

Aldi's grocery items are very affordable. I love shopping here. I just stay away from the cashier who thinks that the store is a military facility (so unless you want to be talked to like you're in kindergarten, move to the next counter). I must say though that all cashiers here are lightning fast when checking out. Organic eggs are affordable (non-organic eggs are less than a dollar a dozen), their wine and bread selection is good, and they have a huge variety of sauces and dressings, sausages and cheese. read more

How can this place compete againt H.E.B? First, It was very hard to find items because the place is too small. Second, they only accept debit card and cash (wtf). Third, you have to put 25cent deposit to get a push cart. Then, to get the 25cents back, you need to return the cart back in front after you unload the everything in your car. Fourth, no plastic bag. You have to pay 6 cents to get a plastic bag. Im not gonna go back there. The place is ridiculous. read more
