The Aldi on Penn Avenue by Quail Springs mall... sigh. I've been to this particular store before, I didn't have any problems. Today, though - very different story. The cashier literally snapped at me and told me that from now on whenever I come to this store to don't ever put my groceries up on the conveyor belt in a box. He angrily through my items into my cart - to the point where I was afraid he was going to start breaking stuff. I said, don't break my stuff, man. He snapped me. I'm not breaking your things ma'am. I'm not breaking your things. And the way he whipped my cart around. I could not move fast enough or efficiently enough for this man. And I'm bodied person for the most part. I shutter to think how someone who had physical disabilities or elderly or maybe just had a surgery. He practically ripped the cart out of my hand. After this delightful exchange, as I was putting my groceries away, I discovered that the sweet potatoes I had purchased were rotten in the middle. I know this because I sunk my hand directly into a rotten sweet potato. Did not see it at first, obviously. So. I walked back into the store. A different employee looks at me and simply snaps at me - two minutes. She goes. We're only open for two more minutes. So. I said ma'am, I need to exchange these sweet potatoes. They are rotten. She goes go ahead in and exchange them. So I did and I left the sweet potatoes that were rotten to the side on the floor. As I walked past her while she was eagerly closing and locking the doors of the store behind me, she demanded to know where I left the sweet potatoes. I told her I left them on the floor next to the bin so nobody else would pick them up. She looked extremely pissed off at me. I said ma'am the employees at the store are being incredibly rude today. And she said oh well I'm sorry you feel that way and I'm like no. She kept trying to talk to me, but I just walked away with my little sweet potatoes and got to my car and went home. As someone who struggles with PTSD and anxiety, interactions like these can be so brutal. It's really not a big deal, but it makes me think twice before ever wanting to go back to this store. There was no call for them to speak to me like this. Plus, their store was extremely disorganized. The shelves are absolutely trashed. All the employees are friendly and hard-working. The store is very busy, but they manage traveling well and get in and out quickly.

I'm normally a big cheerleader for Aldi. But this one seems to continuously drop the ball. Half the time when I go in most of the shelves are fairly bare. Twice I've gone now the seafood section has rotten fish. When I went in there this last weekend their cold fridges didn't even have the door on them. I now drive almost 20 minutes out of my way to not shop at this location. read more

I have been to multiple Aldi's and I would say that this is one of the smaller ones. They have been moving things around a lot lately so it has been hard to find things. However, although there are multiple inconveniences (like needing a quarter for a cart, bringing your own bags, and only having one lane open most the time) I continue to shop here for great products for great prices. They have a limited inventory but they have some awesome stuff that you can't find in other stores. Their cheese selection is superb. They also have a lot of affordable gluten free products. I was skeptical to try their meats but we have actually really enjoyed the steaks we've tried. So I remember the old school Aldi's and I despised them. Out with the old & in with the new. If you haven't visited an Aldi since their brand makeover, I would highly suggest it. They accept Apple Pay and all cards now, unlike before. We cut costs on our weekly grocery bill without cutting quality. We have a monthly circuit of grocery stores we shop and Aldi is near the top of our list. Here's what to know: -Bring a quarter; carts are kept outside; you get your quarter back when you return the cart. -Bring your own reusable shopping bags-do your part to help save the earth; and if you forget, you'll be shamed into buying your own plastic bags. -Most if not all of their fruits & veggies are organic. You heard me right. Organic. -Like other stores, Aldi has their own brands. One of there's is a black label. They are high quality products and I typically select them over the higher priced brands when the option is presented. -They don't sell cilantro. It's weird, but they don't. -Great coffee. Great price. -We like the meats offered here. There isn't a butcher, but they have fresh meat, including organic meat products. -They sell house brand beer and wine. Though when having a party and on the market for beer, I usually decide to go somewhere that sells local craft beer products, but their wine is good for any occasion. -Sometimes we have one or two things on our list that we can't get here. For the value and quality we get, we don't mind. We can usually swing by another store, if absolutely necessary, without much problem. I found the worst product in the store! 'BROCCOLI STUFFED CHICKEN' The picture on the product showBROCCOLI pieces with some cheese intermixed between chicken slices. Looks great for $6.99, an alternative for a dinner selection. Unfortunately, reality is a chicken breast and separate glob of greenish stuff. I channel anyone one at Aldis to take a package and prepare it and show me a picture of what they prepared that looks anywhere close to the picture on the box. read more

I really enjoy this Aldi more than I'd like to admit, especially since they've recently renovated it last summer. The only thing that is more frustrating than anything is there is always one single checker and honestly 8+ people in line! Bring yourself a quarter to rent a cart because once you see how affordable their prices are you'll be filling that cart up in no time! Also bring your own reusable shopping bags because they'll help you hauling everything the check just throws your items into your cart during checkout. There are tons of Aldi "off brands" don't be scared by these they are just as good as target's market pantry and so on. I have gotten everything food wise here before except their meats. They have a great selection of baby items also from diapers to wipes to baby puffs! You know that $2.99 bottle of puffs you get at target? Same thing here but $1.69 I believe! Annnd my son eats them and enjoys them just as much as the other! Just venture here once to explore their produce is amazing and always have great specials its almost a must have staple I get here on top of their cheese selection. I too am dismayed as to why people are down on this place. Sure, once you learn is in the Trader Joe's family, you may turn your nose up, but come on Aldi rules, you just have to know the rules to have a great Aldi experience. 1) Bring a Quarter: you rent your cart. It is so funny that the initiative to keep people civil and do what toddlers are taught "put stuff back after you are done with it" can be incentivised by two bits. This saves you from a dented car (I'm talking to you Target non-putting shopping carts away people). 2) Bring your bags: or better yet, I have a collapsible crate that I use for shopping. It is eco friendly and saves on costs... which transfer to consumers. 3) Embrace the Aldi "off brands:" Here is the deal everyone. Food labeled Dole, Del Monte and so on, is often grown and harvested in the same place by contract farmers. Same with cereal. It is milled and made is the same plant. The only difference is the name on the box. So, for all you Brand Snobs (hey... I like certain brands too... you just won't get it here) and try something in a different box. Just a secret. That Two Buck Chuck you like at the TJ's that sells booze... Well Chuck does not have a vineyard. He buys grapes from other vineyards' and takes the overflow to make his wine. So, you are drinking tons of "off brand" folks. 4) Know somethings will not be here: hey, I don't get Charmin here... cause they don't have it. You know you needed an excuse to go to Target. Don't blame a store for being what it is. 5) Load the conveyor belt, and you can get them to bag your groceries: See bring a box above. I'm a freak when it comes to bagging groceries. I do it myself most of the time. Here load all the heavy stuff: cans, gallon of milk and so on. Then the next heaviest, followed by the stuff that can't take a beating: eggs and tomatoes. If you have the box in the cart, the cashier often will place the stuff, in the order you placed it on the belt, in the box. Done. 6) Get your quarter back: see above, return cart. 7) Enjoy the savings and note you would have spent 1/4 to 1/2 more at Crest. read more

I love, love shopping at Aldi. I wasn't sure at first but after making the choice to come in, Aldi has become part of my weekly grocery rotation. I really love the European chocolates and their pasta and pasta sauce, but what drives me here is the produce. I also really enjoy having a place that sells German item like schnitzel and kneudles. The only thing I'm not a fan of is having to bring my own shopping bags and rent a shopping cart, which isn't a big deal unless you spent your car console change in a drive thru somewhere or you left your shopping bag at home. I'm giving this location a three, mainly due to cleanliness and the guy at the register who isn't ever that friendly as he aggressively tosses 3 lb. bags of onions on top of my Euro-chocolate. What I know -Aldi's is a big deal (supposedly) in Europe. Good or bad, I'm not really sure -They carry off kilter brands What I've learned (mostly through Wikipedia, so who knows how much of it is relevant): 1. It's a sad, sad, very sad version of Trader Joe's. A family trust by Aldi Nord owns the TJ chains so my immediate thought was that they could be similar. That is a negative boss! 2. It's a discount store with lots and lots of boxed stuffs 3. They don't accept manufacturer coupons. Some U.S. stores are gradually accepting them. I walked out in horror, so I'm not sure what this particular location does. 4. They don't accept credit cards. Discover maybe. Again, I cannot confirm or deny. In a nutshell, this place is small. When you walk in you have to walk through the longest boxed goods aisle made by man to get to the back of the store. Then you are showered with a measly produce section, a few walls of refrigerated goods and more boxed stuff. If I am short on money and need to buy groceries at a deep discount, I'd go to Wallymart or Big Saver. Those places are not favorite place to be, but it sure beats Aldi. Will I be back? Probably not. Unless they decide to sell In N' Out food, I'm good without it. read more

I can't believe the low reviews I've seen below. Aldi is literally my FAVORITE grocery store ever. On grocery shopping day, I start out at Aldi, get everything I can for as cheap as possible, then hit one more store for anything I couldn't find at Aldi. That's their one fault, you can't be sure you will find what you're looking for, but with all the savings I walk away with, it's worth stopping by one more store. Bring your own bags and a quarter to unlock your cart and you are good to go! I wish more stores forced you to both bring your own bags and put your own cart up. This Aldi is much like the others. I like the Aldi company and how they usually offer some of the lowest prices. I wish they had signage in their stores to guide you to different sections, but I guess signs costs money so by not having them they continue to pass on the savings to their customers. I can say that at every Aldi I go to, this store included, the workers are easy to find and ready and willing to help find things for you if you just ask. Unlike some stores though they will not come find you and ask how you are doing. They also don't pressure you to buy things you don't want. read more

I have been to this store several time in the beginning it was great. Never had a complaint but since then it has gone downhill. I remember going on there and there were people running around, everything was clean and organized. There were bins with all the empty boxes so you could have them to put your items in when you left. What happen have no idea, you started hiring and dont know who you decided to take, I guess anyone because the workers are rude and dont care. What happen to customer service, and caring about your job. I was there one day and the cashier told a customer to shut her baby up because the baby was crying. I have been there several times and the cashier just throws your stuff in the cart. I told her to told on and she said she couldnt wait because she has to meet a scan quota. If she doesnt meet her numbers she could get fired. She told me that is why they have a big counter at the entrance so that i can go and fix everything. So why do you have five registers, whats the point if you only use one cashier. Of all the times Ive been there, I have maybe a couple of times seen two cashiers. You have plenty of time to take care of the customer and place the items in the cart in bags or boxes. Especially the elderly or parents with kids. I have been there several times and the cashiers are rude. I was there today only because I was in the area, the prices are low which made me go there in the beginning. But today was the straw that broke the camel's back. The place was disgusting. The box are all over the place, products wasnt nice and tidy. All the coolers are gross, the eggs section has cartons opened, eggs smashed. The milk section had milk laying on the floor, nothing pushed forward. I had to crawl into cooler to get a bag of salad mix. Pushing boxes out of the way just to get it. I was so disappointed. I could go on and on the sad part is I applied to be a manager. I have years of experience and I was turned away. Who knows who you hired, but they should all be fired. I'm more of a Fan as time goes by for opposite reasons than previous reviewer. Here's why i DO like Aldi's: Carts are neatly stowed, out of the parking lot area. The Store is smaller than other Groceries, so I can accomplish intended goal in much less time, with fewer steps. PLUS bettter prices than "W" etc. I also prefer my smaller Aldi than the Big-W across the street because I don't see shady dealings out in the parking lot I DO see at W. W has Security, but permits it to continue. The Aldi folks there recognized and remember you. They are very helpful, and always attentive to my questions, unlike across the street. Example: One day I was stocking-up 'pre-surgery' and mentioning upcoming event...when I returned several weeks later (first trip after event) that same lady recognized me, and actually helped me to the car with all my stuff, going above and beyond. She truly was a God-send...I've never forgotten her kindness. I find the quality of several canned good items far superior to any other source. Tuna for example is actual chunk of tuna, like it used to be....not flakes floated in water from elsewhere. Several products use healthier ingredients, not the excessive use of corn syrup found elsewhere. I really thought it was a German Company, because of higher food standards was the reason....but have no idea as to why. What the U.S. permits is NOT permitted in Europe and elsewhere. read more

it said you can save money, not always true, you can find like products at other stores some times cheaper, just like any other store you have to watch what you buy. usually only one cashier and long lines to get checked out, and watch your groceries as they just throw thing into the basket always try to put the soft and breakable items in the end but that don't always work, and heavy items get tossed on top, watch your chips. also they will throw bloody meats on to of your basket if you don't watch. cashiers get grumpy if you mention this. this is why I like to go to stores with self checkouts. and one last complaint watch your change as they will short you some times just saying read more

the store is dirty, unorganized and if you want to check out in a hurry forget it, most times only one cashier and long lines at check out. produce is usually bad and area stinks, coolers are dirty and smelly, I'm surprised the health department hasn't closed this store down. and savings you would be better off going to Wal-Mart or buy-for-less. read more
