As I was looking at the menu, the boys knew what they wanted so I sent them to the cash register to order. While they were at the cash register, one of the boys was touching a gift card display that was next to the cash register. The owner approached him and got really close to him and asked "are you going to buy one" and he said no sir, then the owner said "then don't touch it, put it down". We left and will NEVER return, Never. I would give a ZERO stars if possible. I'll drive to City Bowls in south Huntsville before going to this place, even if I just finished watching a trash pandas game. Horrible owner.

Playa Bowls is one such option, located near Toyota Field. I visited a couple of weeks ago for a quick lunch before going back to work and had a very nice time! The inside is tropical themed and very cute. I will say I'm ALWAYS hot and even I found it a bit chilly in there, but I guess that makes sense -- keeping all the bases (acai, pitaya, etc) cool and such. You order at the counter and employees call your name when your food is ready. Everyone I interacted with was perfectly pleasant and working hard. This particular chain offers a good many more combinations than many other fruit bowl competitors, which I think is mostly a good thing, though the menu can be a little overwhelming! In addition to bowls, they also offer smoothies and juices. Bases (in other words, the smoothie-like substance that forms the bottom part of a bowl) can be acai, mango, pitaya, oatmeal, or a green, coconut, or banana blend. Again, a little overwhelming, but fun to have so many options. I settled on the Electric Mermaid, which has a pitaya base and is topped with granola, pineapple, mango, kiwi, coconut flakes, and honey. Sadly, they were out of kiwi when I visited, but the employee was kind enough to offer to substitute another fruit or to double up on one of the fruits already in the bowl. I did double pineapple because it's my favorite. :) Overall, the bowl was yummy and well-balanced. All the fruits were perfectly ripe, not too mushy, not too cold, etc. It ran a little on the sweeter side thanks to the honey, but overall, I'd eat it again! There isn't a Playa Bowls particularly close to me, but I'd be happy to return and continue to try out some of their other combinations. If you're an acai bowl fan, I don't think you'll be disappointed here.

It wasn't spicy, even though it had sliced jalapenos. It has cream cheese, pepper jelly, sliced jalapenos and turkey. I substituted sweet potato casserole for the chips. My husband had the BLT on hawaiian roll with baked potato salad. My kids had a BLT, chicken club sandwich, hamburger and the pork and Mac sandwich. All with fries. The fries have butter seasoning on them. They have a cute store with homemade canned items, clothes and pumpkins. They have some baked goods, frozen meat and frozen veggies too. There was so much, I cant list it all.

I was off work today and decided I'd spend the day road tripping with my folks. My parents had…read morebought multiple baskets of peaches from this place at stands around Huntsville and had expressed an interest at seeing the place in person and having a plate lunch there, so off we went. Given the rather nasty weather today, actually looking around the farm was pretty prohibitive. They have pretty sunflowers growing and a corn maze, but that was about all we could see from the comfort of our car. The place has a large indoor goods building and an attached restaurant concept. Since we got there a bit before lunch, we perused the produce and such. They have lots of desserts and canned goods in particular -- think cookies, pies, and homemade ice cream; pickled jalapeños, spicy pickles, and so on. They also have breads, a cooling case with take and bake casseroles or side dishes, and a few little souvenir type goods like candles. When it was time for lunch, we wandered into the restaurant to place our order. They have a fairly large menu of plate lunches with daily specials, cafe style sandwiches, and burgers. My mom got the special of the day (beef tips and rice), I had a veggie plate, and my dad had a mushroom and Swiss burger. Personally, I think we'd all give the food about a 3.5/5, but the service was charming and we had a good time so I'll round up. Good attention to detail -- one of the servers heard my mom say she'd wished she had ordered fried okra instead of one of her two sides and they subbed it out before our food arrived. Nice. On my veggie plate, I had fried okra, corn casserole, mashed potatoes, and a broccoli rice casserole. Each plate comes with roll or cornbread (roll, obviously - hehe). The okra and the broccoli casserole were the best items. Corn casserole had been under the warmer for too long and was kind of gray and dry. Mashed potatoes were fine but I wasn't asked if I'd like gravy and without it they were a little bland. The fried okra was very pleasantly crispy (touch more salt would've been great) and the broccoli and rice casserole was savory and had a nice texture. My mom was happy enough with her beef tips; not wowed but content. Dad liked the burger and fries but couldn't finish it. Overall, a nice spot to road trip to visit if you're curious or looking for something to do. DEFINITELY get some peaches when they're in season!

Buying a share from BBF was probably the best decision I made this past Spring. I was so excited to…read moredo it that I kept checking their website every day to find out when they were going to open the online payment option. My boyfriend and I went with the half-bushel for summer which we pick up every other week at the 12South Farmers Market. I love that they offer a payment plan, you commit to paying the whole price but they automatically deduct it from your bank account over a period of months to help split it up. We have not been disappointed with any delivery. The produce is ridiculously fresh and very clean. Another word that comes to mind is variety: kohlrabi, greens, beets, cauliflower, green beans, leaks, green onions, eggplants, kale, fresh herbs, peppers, cucumbers, carrots, radishes, rainbow chard, zucchini, hot peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, bok choy, lettuces, squash, garlic, and the best strawberries ever! We have friends who also get the 1/2 bushel on the opposite week to us and it's sooo much fun to compare and talk recipes. Our friends were able to go to the farm tour and said the farm itself is gorgeous. I guess they have a natural spring too which can make a big difference to how produce tastes, it's also all certified organic - Sweet! The family is very communicative via email about how things are going down on the farm, although this year has been a challenge for them since it's been so cool and wet, they let us know what's going on and they don't ever sound desperate or upset. That's what has been the most important thing to me, their honesty and communication. Some weeks our bushel is rather meek, but they make up for it the next week with extras. Their website is very descriptive and provides a lot of information about how CSAs work and how they run the farm. The older kids run the market table at 12South and they are sun kissed, beautiful and so friendly and welcoming. Seriously I feel like this families outlook, dedication, and warmth make the produce that much more wonderful! Can't wait to sign up for their Winter CSA soon!
