Overall, I believe that they've delivered on that promise. This Wimbledon store is a good size but can't compete on floorspace with the giant Sainsburys Savacentre or the Tesco Extra store nearby. However, it's a good size for a town centre supermarket. They have a nice selection of food counters where you can buy and eat at the tables provided. Alternatively you can take home a ready made meal such as fresh pizza to be cooked at home. I like their fish counter very much and I tend to find more interesting fish and seafood here than at their competitors. I've bought fresh oysters, octopus and sushi grade fish here. They will scale and prepare any of the fresh fish for you. Similarly the butchers seem to know what they're talking about. The rest of the store is quite generic. One trick I feel they're missing is a loyalty scheme like Tesco's Clubcard

It hasn't changed much in the years that it's been part of the local shopping scene although the cafe has gone to make way for a plant department. There always seem to be queues at the checkouts although the store is generally well-staffed. This may be testament to its good value. I believe that it now stays open until 11pm on weekdays and, further to Yee Gan's review, there is a loyalty/price comparison card available.

You get groceries and other home goods. I might be a self-proclaimed anglophile but wasn't expecting this nice place. Walking down the aisles of goodies made me want one back home. Folks are nice too...and those self check-out registers were fun! :)

As a result they have a massive car park which is very useful for those that drive and I personally have never had a problem finding a space there. The store itself is also huge and so a great place to do your weekly shop as you are more likely to find what you want. As well as that they have another section that sells clothes, toys and even electronic equipment. Always be sure to have a look around there while doing your food shop as there are sometimes some bargains to be had such as the recent 25% off its clothing range or the half price toy sale that was on a few weeks back.

Vegetables can actually be more nutritious frozen if the fresh stuff isn't that fresh You'll be surprised what sort of food you can get in here and how many of them can be cooked from frozen. I tend to have a frozen dessert or 2 in the freezer at home in case of unexpected company Ooh and ice creams of course :-)

The only problem you need to have a huge freezer to take advantage of the great food selection there is here but my absolute favourite items are the rocket lollies, the salted caramel galati ice cream and the fresh meat balls! Their free shopping bags are a larger size and thicker bags than the other supermarkets which they deserve a thumbs up for not trying to save costs on bags that break!

Their new chocolate would be next on my list but it is very expensive for a bar of chocolate. I also think the little desserts like the Colin pudding are way too expensive for essentially a kid's dessert. I went to pick up two for my niece and nephew and it would have been over £5 for two tiny portions. We also recently had their bone-in chicken kievs and they were not good. Way too salty and honestly a bit inedible. I'm not sure if it was a one off but I would never buy them again.

The entrance is situated just inside the Centre Court shopping centre. Although the store also sells some stationery items, Greetings cards and cut flowers, this is really just a food store. But they have a very wide selection of their own products, such as ready meals and fresh produce, and at this store especially, a very good selection of bread. (I'm in love with their wholemeal Irish soda bread.) There is also a decent selection of wine. The store has a good number of self-service checkouts, so there are rarely any queues.

I managed to buy a nice chickpea salad but forgot to enquire as to the name of the band playing in the background. I was thinking maybe for my grandmother or maybe if I was having a very bad day...

They are also a little more upmarket than your typical grocery store. There's lots of organic produce, lots of gourmet foods and a wide selection of wines. The prices you pay reflect the quality of the products and produce you're buying but it is great and I love it. The staff are friendly and helpful and it's definitely better than heading to your local Tescos.

Highlights for me are fresh food and cleaning products - good quality and low prices. It has its own in store bakery, though they often seem to sell out really quickly at weekends of fresh bread. The main irritation is the slowness of the tills at busy times - moral: try and avoid busy times.

Fruit and veg, all your basic staples are there, and regularly last a good 4/5 days :) If you go after 6:30pm parking is free. Otherwise you need £1.50 in change and you get 2hrs free parking that you need to redeem in the store when you spend more than £10

And is it cheap! You'll find lots of interesting foodstuffs for around half the price you'll find them at the nearest high street grocery store. Deepak is also a spice haven: their spice section extends along two lengthy aisles. They're also really good for cheap fresh fruit and vegetables, though if there is one thing they fall a little short on it's their selection of fresh meat. Deepak is a must do if you're looking to fill your cupboards with food!

This is my local "big" Waitrose (as opposed to the small one opposite Wimbledon station)…read more It's not actually as large as it looks from the outside, being rather sandwiched between Alexandra Road and the railway line. But it has everything you are likely to need for a weekly shop, and includes a fresh fish and deli counter. The entrance area has a small gardening section, stocked seasonally (so bulbs in the autumn, seeds in the spring, etc), alongside a decent cut flower section. There's a generous car park, though road access is slightly fiddly with a steep, sharp curve onto a narrow access road (drive slowly). Pedestrian (level) access is directly off Alexandra Road near the 156/493 bus stops, with a lift and stairs.

The cashier let a queue of three customers build up…read morebehind the one she was serving, then after finishing with her current customer declared "I'm closed !". Surely if she was closing her till, which of course has to happen at some point, she might have pointed this out to further customers joining her queue instead of wasting the customers' time.
