This is the best fresh produce on the Southside. You will find a good selection all year round…read more Evelyn and crew drive down to W. Virginia when the winter gets colder to maintain their stock and tomatoes are brought in from Georgia and Florida. I am a firm believer that good food is all about good ingredients and I am constantly underwhelmed by the selection and quality of the produce at my nearby Giant Eagle on whittier street and trendy Kroger's in the Brewery District. This week at Evelyns I got some of the biggest and hardy sweet potatoes for just .79 a pound and equally delicious tomatoes for 1.99 a pound. I also had my eye on the abundant and fresh supply of sweet onions, zuchinni, cabbage, and squash. Again the quality is superior to local grocers and prices are competitive. If you are not familiar with this part of town it can be tricky to find, south on parsons avenue just beyond the old schottensteins. The address is Marion rd but it is not marked, You will see E. Barthman on the west side, and Evelyn's is on the opposite side. Hours are Mon-Saturday 9:00-5:30 from Dec-March and 9:00-5:30 Mon-Sun April-November. I often call ahead to see what they have each week. I am never disappointed!

Most of their produce is signficantly cheaper than what you could get at Kroger or Giant Eagle, and more inpressive in quality. The staff is very nice and eager to help you. I would highly recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for fresh produce. I live a good ten miles away and I still drive over to Evelyn's regularly. Its worth it!

There is always something going on at the farm. They even have a mailing list so you can keep up on what's going on at the farm. Apple picking is a super busy time. We first stopped in at the farmer's market, which is located on the corner and has its own parking lot. It had some fun features like classic big chairs for photos and the like. The market itself is packed with tons of produce, goodies, and souvenirs, both inside and outside, including different flavored seasonal donuts, which were delicious! A little bit further down the street is the section with classic autumnal farm fun activities: corn mazes (two - including a mini one for the kids), pick your own produce (apples were ready at the time of our visit, and we enjoyed perusing the orchard), barrel ride, zip line, play area, and apple cannons, which were a blast! A variety of snacks are available for purchase at the snack shop. This area has its own parking available. Staff was helpful and friendly, and we had a lot of fun exploring and enjoying everything Lynd Fruit Farm has to offer.

They also sell apple byproducts and americana decor in their little shop. This orchard is 30+ mins from my place but my parents were in town so I decided it was a good excuse to show them a bit of Ohio on the way. The place looks tiny from the parking lot but it goes back for acres. The lady in the small produce market was very friendly and gave us directions to the apples that were ready to be picked, handed us a few bags, and we were on our way. I wish i knew that we could had driven back there since all we heard was 'it's a lovely walk.' It was a LONG but very nice walk. We passed a pear orchard, a nice small lake and a couple orchards before walking up a large hill to the far orchard where the corn and apples were waiting to be picked. Each bag she gave us was half a bushel and each (filled) is $10. If you dont fill a bag then it goes per pound. We got 2 bags of gala and cortland, and some pumpkin butter, and jams, and etc. This place has lots of stuff, not so cheap but worth it kind of stuff. $5.25 for a jar of blueberry jellies. We'll be back here for the many other fruits they have 'pick your own' for. The corn is also pick your own. They make their own products in the store too. I did not, however, see any cider. I have may been too early for that this year. I went very early in Sept. I have told friends about this place and all have loved it. It has the real family owned orchard feel and not the large scale agra buis feel which is what we were looking for. I'll be back for sure.
