Love, love, LOVE this store!! I was a big fan of winco until we got some attitude from an employee and would cringe every time we had to go. Glad we don't have to go anymore!!! The products in the stores aren't typically what you would buy, but they're just the same or even better and much cheaper without lacking quality. Both locations we've been to here in Palm Springs are very clean and everyone is so nice. You can tell they like their jobs. Been to Aldi in Europe and it's exactly the same. Now I know where we'll be shopping for groceries from now on! I just wish they could open another location here in Palm Springs so that my roommate could work there. He'd totally rock it out. I LOVE the prices! Shopping here makes my wallet so happy. They have great quality stuff for cheap. There are not a lot of name brand things here, so if that's your thing I don't suggest shopping here. But their private label stuff is just as good. And if I don't like it, I don't fret because they have a guarantee on their items -so if I don't like it, I can bring the item back with my receipt and get my money back. I love that the store is small, so it's easy to get what I need and get out. The employees are nice and welcoming. They are hard workers. The store inside is brand new, so it is very nice and clean. I like how they have random seasonal items in the middle aisles because once the season ends that stuff goes on clearance very cheap. And their German chocolate is DEVINE! I've been telling. We drove from Phoenix, AZ, specifically to go to Aldi. I love the company, and was craving some Aldi products. First off, yes, you "pay" a quarter for your cart. This is part of how they keep costs low. You get your quarter back when you bring your cart back, therefore there aren't stray carts littering the parking lot, and they don't have to send their cashiers or stockers out to clean up those stray carts every hour. The carts are sort of a culture thing: I know back when I shopped at Aldi in Ohio all the time, if I only had nickels or dimes, I could generally find someone to trade me their cart, and I would do so in return if someone asked. And sometimes you forget your quarter (like we did on this trip) and someone will be kind enough to offer you theirs and just ask that you pass it along (which happened to us, and we did). The store itself was clean, well-lit, well-stocked, and easy to navigate. The employees were all super-friendly; we were greeted and asked if we needed assistance every time they passed. I love their LiveGFree products; most of them are from manufacturers I can't get in Arizona without ordering online and paying overnight/frozen shipping charges. There was only one cashier on duty that early, and she was fast and friendly. I don't have a problem bagging my own groceries; in fact, I prefer to bag my own, since I always use reusable bags, and most baggers don't pack efficiently enough for my tastes. Aldi just recently started accepting credit cards. This was huge, since I remember in the early 2000s when they had juuuust started taking debit and Discover cards. They also carry a large amount of organic products. I'm holding out hope that they do well enough in California to expand into Arizona. As much as I love the store, a four-hour drive is a little much. My favorite products are the LiveGFree line of gluten-free foods, and the Choceur milk chocolate bars. read more

Ok so I went to ALDI for the first time and probably the last. First off you need a quarter to get a shopping cart. I didn't have a quarter to get a shopping cart and they don't have baskets either. The smallest bill I had was a twenty and I wasn't about to get change so I could get a fricken quarter. So I shopped didn't get really anything I wanted because I didn't have a stupid shopping cart, so I picked up a case of water a salad mix and a drink and went to check out. They had 2 registers open and a long line in each. I finally made to the register and paid for the items. The checker had a shopping cart at the end of her register and proceeded to load the case of water and the salad mix into the cart. She gave me my receipt and I grabbed the cart to take my stuff to the car(didn't want to carry the water all the way out to the parking lot) the checker grabbed the cart and pulled it back saying that because I didn't have a cart I couldn't take the cart. I said "why did you load my stuff into the cart if I couldn't take it" she said that she had no where else to put my items except the shopping cart bad store design I guess the employee was rude and kinda upset that I didn't have a cart. So I want across the street to Trader Joe's and got the item I needed in the first place the employees there were extremely nice as always and I didn't need a stupid quarter to get a fricken shopping cart yea!! This store saves me and my family SO much money every month on groceries! After shopping here, you see what a rip off big name stores really are. Not only do they have groceries but they also have home decor, gardening supplies, etc. It changes every week so it's always a surprise when you go. I love this store! I'll never ever do my shopping at Vons or Walmart or wherever again. read more

It's all generic stuff here. Some of the stuff is close to being expired. I think this is just like a dollar store or a cheap Pic n Save where you can get cheap food that has probably been rejected by another grocer. Stick to your regular grocery store for better quality products. Avocados were frozen and hard, picked way too early and you would have to wait weeks for them to ripen. Other produce appears to be picked way too early as well. read more

This store has very unfriendly checkers! Wow, this employee her name is Bozena tossed all of my groceries into my cart at checkout like she was in a contest to break everything I was purchasing. I did not have time to get my credit card in the machine when she shoved my cart against the wall with my purse in it. I also had the shopping bag that Ii brought into the store which was in the cart. I asked her if she was going to bag the groceries and she said that was my job. She was rude and I am sure that many other customers get their food ruined by her aggressive food tossing. Love this store! Every time I shop I'm always amazed at how much money I save. Employees are very friendly and helpful. Store is laid out so I can easily find what I need as well. With that said, I do still have to shop at another store to fill out some specific items Aldi doesn't carry. I'm totally fine with it but for someone on a time crunch it may not be great for you. Also, if you are very brand loyal it may not be the best place for you. I'd personally rather pay less for generic because it all tastes the same to me. If you're looking to save money this is the place to do it! read more

Initially I didn't like this store much due to the off brands they carry. That was at the grand opening but I decided to go back a few weeks later and look a little closer and now I do most of my shopping there. Great place to buy produce. I go to buy bananas and celery. Can't beat 39 cents a pound for bananas and 59 cents for a bunch of celery can't even get that at Stater Bros. If you buy a bad piece of produce all you have to do is tell the check out person and they will deduct it from your bill no need to bring it back. They also have good deals on bread, milk ($1.99 a gallon), and frozen items. I don't even mind paying the 25 cents for the cart which you get back if you put it back. I always end up giving my cart to customer that's just walking instead. Bring bags or you can buy them from the check stand. They get four stars because of the boxed off brands, I didn't care for them too much. read more

Very interesting store for the US. Have shopped here many times in Germany. Great food prices and very nice produce. The store has an interesting array of items for sale....nothing like a US grocery store. Hard to believe it is related to Trader Joe's. Thank heavens they brought the grocery carts that lock in place. Carts are all over the parking lots in all the stores...hate it. My car was slammed with a cart at Walmart and I needed a new fender...............pay the quarter....get it back and be glad someone did a smart thing. Now if all the stores followed their lead. Really like this store. It's inexpensive and I haven't had any problems with the generic foods...all good especially the cereal. The staff are pleasant and out to assist anyone immediately. The only negative is if Aldi is out of something advertised in their weekly ad, they don't give rain checks! read more

it is a great place to find non-brand items that are very good, and not pricy .

Here is the just of it. When they first opened the doors in La Quinta, it was clean, well stocked, and all the items were placed right. A year later....it's more like a dollar general. There's literally STUFF everywhere. Food, non-food, you want a box of taco shells,you got it, and to go with that, pick yourself up a pair of woman's leggings, they're on the same isle so you can't go wrong. The STAFF is kinda weird. There is one older woman who wears glasses who just THROWS your items in the cart like TURBO speed, bread is crushed, fruit is bruised. She legit threw a bottle of wine at a woman,( and it went everywhere) because she was trying to go so fast. SLOW DOWN. She tries to roll my cart away from me and out of the way with my purse on it while I am still running my card through the machine!!! I've had her rudely ask me to leave the cart for the next person in line, when my cart was FULL of groceries just so she doesn't have to get up an obtain a cart. Am I supposed to carry them in my arms? It's nerve racking when I see she's the checker. I've walked out and gone to Stater Bros because of her. Over all, I think it was best when it first opened.
