Yo. If this ain't some ghetto shit right here!
    William A.

I haven't been to an Aldi store since I was a kid with my mom. Grant street in Gary. Man oh man. The memories. Consistent wet floors and Kaboom cereal. Haahahahaa! But we stopped here for an air fryer my wife's friend insisted we get. The shopping cart system threw me for a loop. You have to rent the carts. For a quarter. What if I don't have a quarter? Do y'all take IOUs? I mean shit! It's a cart. I'm not going to put it in my trunk and take it home. The world is a cold place I tell ya.

Don't be a sheep and shop at the trendy grocery stores for basic groceries. Aldi may not be glamorous, but it's structured to benefit the customer. It's just not handed to you on a silver platter. The difference is in your wallet. Aldi is one of the few chains that I whole-heartedly support. Origins based in Germany, the unusual style of grocery shopping is the norm for a lot of Europe. In England, the grocery store makes you insert a pound for a cart - £1 is about $1.50. Aldi only wants a quarter from us! By cutting down on Americanized shopping tactics, they've eliminated costs to keep the price of products low for YOU. They don't take credit cards to cut down on credit card fees. They package all their foods in-house. And they make you pay for the cart to save money on expensive replacements. All in an effort to save YOU even more money! I pretty much love it here. Shelves are always stocked. You're in and out quickly. Employees and customers are friendly, mostly. If Aldi doesn't have something I need, I will begrudgingly go to Kroger. Otherwise, I confine most of my shopping to what Aldi has in stock, which is more than you'd think. You just have to bag the stuff. That's a heck of a deal.

I still need to go to Kroger for some items but the bulk of my weekly grocery shopping is done at Aldi.

It was great to see so much produce at the Zionsville Farmers Market. The market has been organized…read moreso all the produce is together and the boutique foods are in a separate parking lot. A musician played guitar and sang in the center. There was a little seating here and there. We arrived early and found plenty of parking and it was easy to move around with few lines. (There's always a line for corn.) Vendors were friendly. I even ran into an old friend and we chatted. The market is a good place to connect with people and enjoy beautiful downtown Zionsville. The prices are high, way higher than the grocery store. But after gardening, I get how much work goes into getting a crop of anything. I picked up some peppers and a pie. Yum.

Locally grown produce was all around so colorful! It all looked so good! Watermelon, cantaloupe, tomatoes, cucumbers. Yum! I couldn't resist buy some apple butter from Doud's Farm. Balanced Harvest had stunning bouquets of flowers to choose from. The Food Florist makes great frozen meals to take home and bake. The chicken and wild rice is really good! If I hadn't eaten before I would've tried B's Burritos. Goodness those looked so good!!! I can't pass up a breakfast burrito. You can't go wrong! They have a community service booth at every market. I saw today's was Indiana Diaper Bank. An activity zone and live music. It's a rain or shine market also. This farmers market is on Saturdays from 8:00-11:30.

I'm very happy that Indianapolis has TWO Trader Joe's locations while many cities have none at all. Employees are always incredibly friendly and helpful. And it is never difficult to find someone to assist. I always check out the plants first, as I often find something I need to add to my collection. Some of my TJ favorites: Cheese of all varieties but especially Unexpected Cheddar, Cottage cheese, yogurt, peanut butter, squiggly knife cut noodles, Danish Kringle in all varieties, peanut butter cups, frozen mashed potatoes, frozen hash browns, and too many other things to list. There is always something new and different to try at Trader Joe's, and I often stop in just to see what is new. It is always a fun experience and great place to shop.

I was having a really tough day and still needed to get my grocery shopping done so I chose the one grocery store I know that always makes me feel better: TJ's...Mr. Joseph's..Good ole' Trader Joe's. Was I planning on getting lava cakes upon entering the store? No. Whoops...add to cart. Did I need that bouquet of flowers that greeted me with a delightful smell right after walking through the doors? No. Add to cart. When I got to the checkout almost tripling my budget for groceries (don't go shopping while sad) the cashier had the normal friendliness you expect from anyone working at Trader Joe's. When she asked how my day was going my body took this exact moment to let all of the tears roll out of my eyes. Embarrassed? Yes BUT it's like the employees were trained for these situations. The kind cashier smiled and shared how she too had a rough day the day before. She then added an extra bouquet to my basket and no matter how bad my day was, it's the small kindnesses from employees here that truly make a big difference in someone's day to day experience. I walked away feeling lighter...and with tasty chocolates to snack on and all of my groceries for the week and I was actually smiling on what felt like quite possibly one of the worst days of this year. So I hope you enjoyed reading this novel. All this to say, I will always love this store. Thank you Trader Joe's! You and your employees are a true gift.
