I never thought I'd be an Aldi shopper, but now I'm hooked. I follow a guy named Bobby Parish on social media who does videos on how to shop for healthy food. Some of the videos are on Aldi and I had no idea they sold a nice selection of organic and healthy foods. So I decided to give it a try. I was in the area and stopped by this store in Delray Town Center. Located right on Military and Linton, this is a nice store. It's clean and organized. Nice selection of grass fed beef and I even spotted some wild caught salmon. Don't forget the Aisle of Shame where you can pick up some fun seasonal items and a nice selection of candles. I went into Aldi on Linton Blvd in Delray today to purchase two items and believe it or not I walked out with two items. I love Aldi's. Unfortunately, the new Aldi's that opened up on Boynton Beach Blvd. and Lyons seems to have a problem with their refrigeration and they can't stock it for the last month. The problem is they don't know what the problem is. It's unfortunate because the store is brand new and people are not going to be happy and start to look for other places to purchase their items. This ALDI is laid out the same as every other I've been to, whether Neosho MO or Columbus IN or Mount Pleasant SC. Produce, dry goods, deli and cheese, dairy, freezers and lots of meats. And of course, the Aisle of Awesomeness down the center with all sorts of random stuff. Yes, you need to bring your own bags or buy them. And yes, you need a quarter for the shopping cart deposit. Think of Aldi's as the estranged brother of Trader Joe's. The abbreviated history is that Aldi's and Trader Joe's were owned by German brother's who fell out over whether or not to sell cigarettes. One headed the chain that became Aldi's and the other chain became Trader Joe's. While Trader Joe's has great prices, Aldi will beat them and just about everyone else's prices every time. You can still signs of that German heritage all over Aldi's like in their German line of products called Deutsche Kuche, which offers offers beer, chocolate, roasted coffee, and uncured Bavarian bratwurst. If you want to save money on groceries Aldi's is a great way to do it. In order to bring you those low prices Aldi's has instituted some cost cutting measures. If you want a cart you will need to bring a quarter and to get your money back you need to return your cart from the parking lot back to the store saving employees from having to collect the carts. You will also have to bring your own bags or pay for theirs. Lines will most likely be long because they keep their staff to a bare bones minimum. Best of all is the check out. To get people through the line more quickly they will literally throw your groceries into the cart they keep chained at the check out. You will frantically try to grab your items out but will never be fast enough. I used to just carry groceries around the store in bags I brought but getting my own cart has made the checkout process a lot smoother so now I always keep a quarter hanging in an Aldi's keychain made for that purpose attached to my purse. I shop at Aldi's at least once a week. This store was near where I was running some errands. It was neat and clean and otherwise indistinguishable from all of the other Aldi's I have been in. In addition to food they also have aisles with seasonal clothing, accessories, home goods, pet items, and toys. My latest obsessions are the fall shaped pasta served with the pumpkin and butternut squash pasta sauce, Snyders Twisted Pretzel Sticks Seasoned, Benner Green Tea Citrus, and the Acai superfruit packs. Their motto is "here today gone tomorrow". The inventory is always changing which makes it fun to find new products but it also means your favorites may be gone by the time you come back. When I find something I love I try to stock up. I'm still looking for the Philadelphia cheesesteak egg rolls. Aldi's is a big part of making my grocery budget stretch farther. read more

When this Aldi opened on Linton a few years ago, I knew I had to give it a try simply because it was down the street from my community. It seemed like it would be easier than running into the big stores when I only needed a few things. I was a die-hard Publix shopper but for the incidentals, I loved the idea of a small less crowded store and faster checkout. WELL, I certainly got an education after visiting this store! I LOVE that store. It's my #1! I only go to Publix if Aldi (God forbid!) doesn't carry an item I need! The produce is local, mostly organic, very fresh and delicious! I buy my chicken and salmon there. I buy the 16" Ready To Bake Mama Cozzi 5 Cheese Pizza weekly! I buy their fresh bakery muffins and brioche bread. I love their ready made salads in a bowl or a bag. I buy their cheeses, yogurts, Red Bag Frozen breaded chicken that even has it's own cult following. All over the store they have their own brands made for them, very similar to Trader Joes. You might even notice similar packaging. (It's the same family!) Their prices are sooo much less than Publix- I don't know why people still shop there. And Aldi is smart! They save money and pass the savings on go the consumers.... US!! Then there's the household/home/clothing/specialty aisle. TRULY a treasure hunt. The phrase "you never know what you'll find" must have been invented in that aisle! And if you've got an eagle eye, you can spot some pretty nifty markdowns there too on great merchandise that's taking up too much space on their shelves! The markdowns will rock your socks so keep an eye out for that! Aldi make shopping an enjoyable experience. I love the products at Aldi and the merchandise in the specials aisle. Most of all I love the feeling that I am not getting ripped off by the ridiculously higher priced markets in the neighborhood. I will never give them the chance to soak me again! There ARE other places to shop where food costs less and the quality IS SUPERIOR!!! You use a quarter to rent their carts and when you return it, you get you quarter back. (They save the expense of hiring a person to round up the cars all day long and bring them back to the store.). They save on bags.... Shoppers bring their own. Another cost saver. And they don't have baggers which is another cost saver. All the employees at Aldi's are trained in excellent customer service and at the same time they do every job there so they are well rounded. The store runs so efficiently and I as a customer see how all that works together to make this store functional at 100% and give the customers the best quality products around! read more

Excellent grocery store for inexpensive goods! I have resisted going to ALDI for many years, just because I wasn't familiar with the brand. This time, I couldn't help because my tire has low air, so I finally stop by to pick up some quick grocery. I was not disappointed! Basically, if you know exactly what you need and don't want to browse through many different brands when you shop, this is the place. Everything is a lot more inexpensive when compared to Publix for sure, sometimes even Walmart! It has a little unique culture of using a quarter to use the shopping cart, and get it back when you're done. I have heard such wonderful things about Aldi stores - low prices, great produce, nice variety. I decided to go and try it out. There is a nice, large, parking lot. I wasn't actually ready for the 25cent carts but once I understood it, it was fine. I did bring my own bag in with me. I walked around the store, which was more crowded than I had anticipated at 9:30 am on a weekday. The shelves were stocked and I put a few things in my cart. I went to the checkout and there was only one cashier open. She was moving very slowly with the person in front of her and the two in front of me had huge baskets filled to the brim. I had 6 items. I waited for a while but the line never budged. Finally I left my basket and decided it's just not worth it. When I told my friends about my experience, they told me that the Aldi that I went to is not a good one - who knew! They say I should try the one in Boynton. Maybe I will, maybe I won't. read more

I like Aldi for their very low prices. I especially go there to purchase Winking Owl wine. It's only $3.45 a bottle. It comes in a few different varieties but I prefer the White Zinfandel. It's tasty and I can't see any difference between Winking Owl and any other more expensive brand that I have tasted. Aldi has most of the same items you can buy in any other grocery store. They just seem to mainly sell their own brand of food. No Coca-Cola orPepsi. That's the only drawback to shopping there. They don't have bags for your groceries but you can sometimes find a box to use. You can buy your main ingredients at Aldi and then finish up your shopping at Publix for the things they don't carry at Aldi. You will save a lot of money shopping that way. For those who dislike shopping, Aldi is a perfect choice because it provides the essentials (including good --but sometimes not great-- fruits and veggies) in a smallish setting allowing you (well, me) to scoot around, fill a cart quickly, and exit the store without undue delay. The only neg I've noticed over time is that many of its employees do not smile and appear to act like something is weighing heavily on their minds. This in NO WAY suggests that they are either unhelpful or rude. And if waiting in line for any period of time isn't good for you, get a life and change your doctor appointment(s). read more

Aldi is not a store with a great presentation but the prices are lower for most items. To enhance your shopping experience at ALDI, have a quarter ready to release a shopping cart and ensure you will return the cart to get your quarter back or someone else will for sure. Also, bring your own shopping bags or you can purchase them for .07 cents a bag or purchase a reusable bag. Quality of the produce is very fresh and prices are reasonable. The brand names of other products is different than what we see in other stores but they are basically the same. It's time consuming to read all the labels if you don't recognize the brand name. Wow the local European experience in FL. Yes I'll take it since I'm not going for a vacation for a few months. Aldi which is a German store will give you a European experience for sure. You will not be getting shopping bags for free just like much of Europe. You will be paying 25 cents for a shopping cart just like you pay 25 cents for ketchup in a fast food restaurant in Europe. We can be comparing and contrasting all day but the big picture is that Aldi is worth to take a look at. They have great chocolates from Germany which I plan to get next time since we love having international chocolates at our house. They had ridiculously cheap cleaning products which I didn't buy but I wouldn't mind trying the brands which I have never heard of to compare the products of U.S. Overall I liked going there to feel like I was in European store such as Penny Market or something similar. The number of ALDI stores is really growing. They seem to be everywhere. I've been to several and I usually end up buying something. I find their prices to be reasonable. Their selection of groceries is somewhat limited. I may find what I need one week and it will be gone the next week. They always have fresh produce, some organic. Near the front of the store there's an isle of items that I didn't expect to see in a grocery store. It's always different. I've bought leggings, shoes, a journal, wine glasses that float, gardening tools, toys for gifts, and lots more. Aldi has good selection of reasonably priced wine. It's surprisingly good, and a real bargain. Don't forget to bring quarters if you want to use a shopping cart. You'll get your quarter back when you turn in the cart. read more

I worked for all this Store for a couple of weeks until they started t o demand I work after my scheduled hours of 530am until 1 pm. which I did twice but I told the manager on duty that was unacceptable because I had a medical appointment. She started arguing with me in front of customers telling me my work wasn't done and I said you should have taken me off the cash register so I could complete the work you had said that I needed to do. At that point rather than arguing I resigned. The store manager George who came back from vacation decided to lie and say that I was terminated on their company website. I used to shop in Aldi Delray Beach for years. Today I went to buy groceries, I had my cart full of food. I got near the green grapes section and took ONE grape to sample. The worker in the area came immediately to me and reprimanded me stating I was stealing as I was not able to then pay for the ONE grape. I reacted to the accusation and felt somehow offended as I was trying to try them, not putting that ONE grape in my pocket. I told the worker she lacks a customer service attitude. She called the "manager" and we exchanged the same type of conversation. No sign saying "do not sample". I did not carry a nickel so I could not offer the "manager" from the german chain in lieu of the ONE grape I ate to compensate for the event. The truth is I find a common practice in most of the supermarkets in the area the ability to try ONE before buying them. I have NEVER been to this store when it's been clean. I have gone early, mid-day, late afternoon. There is almost no help here to stock shelves during the day and clean up from the traffic . WHY? The only reason I give it 2 stars is because their prices are better than most, and they do have a small assortment of gluten free items. The parking is horrendous. Can't they find an area with more land for parking space. The customers are almost all elderly, and the lot is very dangerous because people who shouldn't be driving do. I was very interested to check out Aldi when a family member mentioned they arrived to town. I've spent alot of time in Germany over the years, and have really come to appreciate the high quality meat, cheese, chocolates, and other delicacies you can typically find at most German supermarkets. The US version of Aldi? This place resembles a cut rate, no frills supermarket more than anything. Most of the products were from US brands that I've never heard of, and alot of their items seemed to have crappy artifical ingredients and/or preservatives. Also, with the exception of some bratwurst, there was nary a German made meat or cheese product in the house. Disappointing! On the positive side, they did have some very good German made chocolate in stock and most items seemed to be pretty cheap. If you know your prices and comparison shop, you can definitely save a buck or two here. That said, you can get comparable deals on name brand stuff at Walmart and Target (+5% off with a Target red card) so I'm not sure why you'd need to go out of your way to shop at Aldi. Anyway, if maximizing the food budget is your primary goal and you don't mind no frills items, I would definitely recommend giving Aldi a look. read more

I understand Aldi is a culture of we give you less service in order to give you better prices. One of the prime example is you bag your own food. No problem- I will even bring my own bags to and went as far as buying one of you plastic bags for brand recognition. I even bring the cart over to your cashier, open the bags so they are ready for them to fill up and I am standing right next to the cart ready to work with your cashier to make sure all goes in well and smoothly. RARELY DOES IT GO SMOOTHLY! It is always a struggle to not have my things just thrown in to the cart with my bags open and ready, they may not even make it into the open bags because these cashiers most be told not to care what happens to the merchandise, even when I have 4 bottles of wine I have had the cashier just throw them on top of each other clinging and clanging away. She did not even FLINCH at the fact that they could of cracked open (JUST NORMAL FOR HER). Aldi is a rather quirky grocery store. There are things I really like and those I totally dislike. I like their bread. Pane Torano is a huge round 2 lb. Italian loaf made in Chicago, frozen and trucked in. Buy it and freeze it. Then take out slices to toast as needed. You will love the crispiness and the flavor. I enjoy buying their German chocolate. It is a must in the stockings at our house. I cherish the marzipan stollen. I always buy a few extras when they have them and give them to friends. I do not like their produce. It is low quality and often rotten if on sale. I am not a fan of their meat either. It just doesnt seem to be of the best quality. Aldi is the new addition to box supermarkets in the South Florida area. All of a sudden I have been noticing Aldi stores popping up everywhere. Now Aldi is not like a Publix. It is a European chain with European values which means you have to pay for using the carts and bags. Now the amount might be very small but we Americans are used to everything for free and that usually doesn't sit will with some. On my recent visit to Aldi i already noticed a couple of grumpy customers who were upset that they were being charged for bags. But the upside to all this is that Aldi can keep costs of some of there products lower compared to Walmart and Publix. They have excellent choices for most products at very reasonable prices specially vegetables and other food items. Of course they can improve as most people want but remember if you want to pay thrice for the same tomato products head to publix. 3 stars for now but I have feeling Aldi is gonna grow on me specially because I love Europe and anything associated with it. read more

I started shopping at the Deerfield Aldi's about a year after it opened. Even from Delray, the once-a-month drive was worth the time and gas. But when my neighborhood Albertson's closed and was replaced by an Aldi's, I was in heaven. You really just have to see the prices to believe them. Aldi's hits you with the cookies and snacks when you enter, but if you can resist some of that (and I'm not saying you should because the nuts, crackers and other treats are delicious), you will get to the produce where you'll find extremely low-cost healthy food. Aldi's doesn't carry organics, but I don't buy everything organic, and am happy to get onions, lemons, broccoli, mushrooms and other items there. Aldi takes a bit of getting used to, but that is time well spent. I have found some favorite items there, and buy many household staples there such as milk, half & half, eggs, cereal, and cheese as well as pasta sauces and pasta. I also buy most our condiments there: salsa, mustard, cocktail sauce, sour cream, pickles, mayonnaise and so on. The quality is excellent, and I love not having to pay for advertising that comprises part of the cost of name brand products. Also, Aldi carries interesting German items such as spaetzle which made according to the package recipe has become a family favorite at our house. Some things to know before you go: Aldi carries many fewer products than you'll see in a regular grocery store. Nearly everything is private label (house brands). You need a quarter in order to dislodge a grocery cart for use, but will get it back when you return the cart, and must pay for bags or bring your own. Aldi's does not take credit cards, and you have to bag your own groceries. Finally, the hours are somewhat limited by traditional grocery standards--the Delray Aldi doesn't open until 9 a.m., for example, so it's not a place I can run into before work to pick something up. My friends have been talking about Aldi and I wanted to see what the deal was myself. My husband and I decided to make a grocery trip one week instead of to Publix or Target. Well, I am glad I did my research before hand and that my friends filled me in on what you're supposed to do (as if there is proper etiquette for shopping at a grocery store...lol) *Bring a quarter for the shopping cart. At first I was like...really? But after I read the website, it made a whole lot of "cents" see what I did there? *boom crash* Seriously, it is one of the ways they are able to offer lower prices. They minimize shopping cart theft or damage. Because you put that quarter in, psychologically it eats at you while you are shopping...that cart has my quarter...must return cart...must get quarter back... Anyhow, its not a big deal. I do have a problem with those toilets that require payment. Just kidding, none in there, but I hear if you visit overseas they do. *Bring your own reusable shopping bags. This was not a big deal at all for me since I have been hoarding/collecting them since I lived in LA and where it is pretty much mandatory out there for fear of looking like a tree chopping, landfill using shopper. It is nice that they do this. If you don't happen to bring enough bags, they will sell you plastic ones or the reusable ones. *Don't put your cart away just yet! This is how it goes - you unload your cart and even before you are finished, the cashier, who I swear is training for the Cashier Olympics, zipped all your groceries into another waiting cart at the end of the counter. When you are done with your cart, do not attempt to put your cart back as I have tried, you will get a prompt reminder from the cashier that you are supposed to leave it at the end of the counter when you move your filled cart, so an empty one is waiting for the next customer. Fun fact - the website says that they put barcodes on every side of a product so the cashier can scan the items quickly, saving time, therefore, saving money. *THEY DO NOT TAKE CREDIT CARDS - Yes, if you are just short of cash this week and need to use credit cards, don't bother shopping here. They only accept cash and debit cards. They don't accept checks because that takes too long and wastes time and money. *You bag your own groceries - Now this was an interesting idea. Though in most stores nowadays I bag my own groceries anyway because Mr. Bagboy has senior citizens to assist out to their car. I'm youngish and able. No problem for me! Once you have your cart load of food ready that the cashier just filled up again, you take your cart and bags to the long counter at the back of the store and proceed to bag everything yourself. That gets you out of the way (no slowpokes here) so they can service more customers. Again, this is another way they save money, by not hiring baggers. Overall, Aldi is a great place to save a lot of money. To give you an idea of the savings. They sold a loaf of white bread for $.50, a box of mac and cheese for $.39. A petit bacon wrapped filet for $2.99 and it goes on. The most expensive thing we bought was a box of kitchen trash bags for $4.69 for 100. If you are a brand-whore, you probably won't like shopping here. It is all their brand generic stuff, which is great if you really don't care and usually buy the Publix brand or Target brand of things. This is yet another way they save you money. Like other reviewers said, it is considerably smaller than regular grocery stores. Smaller =less items = faster turnover = less spoilage/expiration. ALDI, or as I call it Generic Brand Haven, is an awesome new market in town. If you're stuck on buying names like Kraft, Pillsbury, and Lay's steer clear, but if you like paying half the price for comparable products, then Aldi is your place. The store houses essentials like bread, milk, and eggs, but there is a ton more stuff. I really like their look-a-like, knock off snacks like the blue corn tortilla chips (less than $2 a bag). I'm also a fan of the other goods I've tried like the canned veggies, cooking spray, chicken broth, and dry pasta. Come to think of it, I have yet to buy anything there that has sucked. They have toiletries and random household items, but I've yet to try any of those things. There's cheap wine too (think 2 Buck Chuck varieties). A few things you may find strange, but you'll get over them when you see your receipt: 1. You have to put a quarter ($.25) deposit to use a shopping cart 2. Grocery bags cost money so bring your own reusables, plastics, baskets, etc 3. You bag your own groceries- the world's fastest cashiers will scan your stuff, toss it back in your cart and then you shuffle off to the side and bag your own stuff. (there are counters to do this at) 4. NO CREDIT CARDS. They accept cash, debit, and food stamps. No coupons either. The store is immaculate, organized, and a true pleasure to shop at. ALDI stores originated in Germany (could explain the impeccable layout), expanded through the US and are popping up all over down here in South Florida. It's no surprise though- the prices and quality offered by Aldi = AWESOME VALUE. You really just gotta go there, take a stroll around, & see what they've got. You'll be impressed. Team Aldi! Don't know how we ever got by before Aldi came along. There are hit and miss items here, but mostly hits, and the prices are better than anywhere else. We love the place! Their business model is VERY smart. They've designed many ways to keep their prices low, and the model works. Some of the ways they save you money: They don't have a phone number. They don't want to tie up employees with phone calls. Also, if you want to use a shopping cart, you'll need to rent one for a quarter. You've got to take the cart back to the store to get your quarter back, which eliminates the expense having employees to recover carts from the parking lot.
