Nope not going to this location again. Was doing shelf check-out, almost done with my full cart. Manager walked by suspened my transaction. Loudly stating she saw me bag an item i didnt scan. I showed her what the last item was that went into my bag. If i was ever going to steal it wouldnt be a .49 package of ranch dressing mix. Instead of doing the company's protocol, which is checking items that were bagged against what is on the screen. It's also their policy to Not out right accused someone. Four stars... but first... I get the other reviewers' complaints, and I was definitely annoyed by the quarter deposit in a shopping cart. This is especially miserable when you have a toddler who will run everywhere if he's not strapped to something. As for the lack of means to gather your stuff, I just put it all in my reusable bags, and it worked nicely to get it around the store, and to checkout. No one bothered me about using them to carry stuff. As for paying for your shopping bags, I get the annoyance there too. But it's becoming more the thing to do, and at EVERY grocery store I went to in my last trip to Europe, you had to pay for your grocery bags. Plus, I already have my own reusable bags in my car at all times because I do them at Whole Foods. So for me, I just adjust. I am very aware of my grocery prices. I buy almost all organics / no dairy / no gluten. As mentioned, I shop at WF, as well as Trader Joe's, BJ's, Costco, Wegmans, and occasionally Giant and Acme. I will say that organics are not cheaper across the board, but I found a LOT of items that beat all the abovementioned stores' organic prices. For example, organic eggs are $1 cheaper per dozen than any of those other places. I got 4 doz!!! I visited on a Saturday evening both times, after my nearby silversmithing class. I didn't have problems waiting too long for checkout, but as others noted, there was only one lane open. My cashier was pretty nice both times, though. I needed help on the floor both times, and was able to find someone, and that someone was helpful both times. The second time I was there, there was milk spilled all over the whole store. IDK how this happened, but it was gross, and someone should have cleaned it. I took quite a while in there, to familiarize myself with all their organics, and take pics of prices, and at no point did anyone call for clean up, put a "piso mojado" sign down, nor break out the mop and clean it the eff up! So yes, it can be a little gross in ways. It's a discount store, though, and that's always how it goes. My experience with trying a BUNCH of their products has been good, so the quality for the money is fine with me. The "get what you pay for" part is in the ghettoness of the store, and the cheapness of the carts and bags. But if you can get over it, you'll probably like the experience. So my approach at Aldi is going to be to figure out my list of staples that beat the other places' prices, expect to stock up on those while here, know to expect a PiTA cartless situ with my wild toddler, and to always have my own bags. Set your expectations, prep yourself for the experience, and go for the savings to be had. If you don't buy the things they do offer cheaper, then it's probably not worthwhile, but for my diet, it is. read more

I have been traveling to the Collingdale or Sharon Hill Aldi for years so I was glad that one opened in Brookhaven. I've had 20 visits or so since they opened so its time to review. There are a few negative reviews here that I think are unwarranted so I'm going to try to review this for what it is. It is a discounted food, produce, dairy and meat store that also happens to carry items other than the aforementioned. I can tell you for food, produce, dairy and meat they are cheaper than the two chains they compete with. It's usually easy in and out from the huge parking lot and frankly I like their parking lot better than the chains because it's better laid out. Yes you do need a quarter to get a cart and I don't have a problem with that because I'm not dodging carts in the parking lot and the prices are cheaper because they have one less employee. The store is always clean and bright and I am consistently finding bargains there so I'm not sure why other people say that they don't unless it's because they're purchasing items that aren't food stuffs. I'm moving away from this one very shortly and will have to shop at the one in my new area. I'm going to miss this one. read more

This location is my only Aldi experience but I go regularly with no real complaints. I've learned I can't shop there only, they don't always have what I need. If you know your prices, and shop accordingly you can save a ton of money. I don't but cereal or a lot of pre-made foods but their prices on chicken and cheese and some dairy is great. When my husband wants cereal or snacks, this is where I go. Are the cashiers super chatty and bubbly- nope. Do I care- nope. Ring my stuff up and get me on my way. read more

They opened a brand-new ALDI on 352 near the Wawa, where the old Giant (now across 352) used to be. I had a pretty crappy first experience, and I was excited to try Aldi as friends have said it is "really cheap". Well, sometimes you get what you pay for... In this case my experience sucked before it even began. In the parking lot. I walked up to get a cart and you need to put a Quarter in to release a cart. Feh. I had no quarters. So I figured I'd "wing it" and only buy what I could carry (which was about 5 items). There are no shopping baskets inside the store, either. What is this? Grays Ferry? So I browse and I shop, and yes the prices are super low, but - BUT - no-name brands or brands I have NEVER heard of and no sourcing info. (Fresh grated Parmesan-type cheese for $1.99 - distributed by ALDI in IL but WHERE is it from? US? Italy (no way)?) Too scared to buy meat here. Bought my kid a cookies & cream type candy bar from Germany (interesting). I approach the checkout line and there is ONE lady working (everyone else has scattered) who desperately wants to go on break. The lady ahead of me is being served and I remarked (out loud - my BIG mistake) Oh, they have no plastic bags? And the eco-conscious lady ahead of me gave me a HUGE earful about how all stores should do this and how "You need to bring your own bags" and how it's better for the environment and on and on. And, honestly, she is correct - but her snappy, bitchy-toned delivery needed much improvement. She left and I paid for my $11 worth of stuff (which would have cost about $15 at Giant) and hand-carried it out to my car. (Admittedly, I looked around in the parking lot to make sure that lady was gone. She was really pissed off for some reason.) Next time I will remember to bring a quarter and my own bags. If there is a next time. I am in absolutely no rush to ever return to ALDI. read more

A big thank you for the negative reviews....it helps that there is more stock and parking available for me....and a comfortable uncrowded shopping experience! I have been an Aldi fan(Collingdale) for years. Of course I was surprised on my first visit.....to make sure I had a refunded quarter and bags. Big deal! The best advice I can offer to you is to get in your car, drive across the street and go shopping at Giant. The employees here are consistently slow and miserable. They consistently have one aisle open for checkout and they consistently offer a slow and awful experience. Their prices aren't really even that low. I was looking for some basics for a party...butter, cheese, Halloween candy. I honestly felt like it was all more expensive than giant. Sure, some things are cheaper like .75 for hamburger rolls but it's not everything and I don't like going on a scavenger hunt for groceries. It's annoying having to pay for a cart. I get their point and I think it's nice to not have to worry about carts hitting your car...and I'm sure they save on not having to hire employees for the cart collection job...but I can see people arriving without a quarter and being annoyed. So I would say the highlight of my Aldi experience...the one that really sealed the deal on my general opinion of it, was when I was purchasing a couple of items, one of which was a jar of green olives. The girl checking me out hated life...or hated me...or hated both...but in any event, she was scanning my things and slamming them down next to her. She dropped the jar of olives which fell on the ground, broke near my feet and splashed olive juice all over me. She went to get something to clean it up and I looked at the people behind me and mentioned the fact jay her attitude caught up to her. It boggles my mind that people like that get (and stay) employed in the customer service field. It's a new store...is that who you want representing you?!?! In any event, this store is awful. It isn't that cheap. You can't get in and out quickly. They may or may not have what you need. You may or may not what you need at a cheaper price than another store. You may or may not stand in line behind 100 people waiting to check out of the lone register that's open. You may or may not get one of your items thrown at you by a miserable employee. Do yourself a favor and go to giant. It's worth the 25 cents. read more

This Aldi is not crowded compare to others. Staffs are friendly. Well stocked. Wipes and hand sanitizer are there at the entrance.

Wow! 10 minutes ago I had the rudest, most apathetic cashier in the world. I wasn't even greeted and it was like my presence annoyed her. She couldn't be bothered to look up from her cellphone. Wow I just signed up for yelp just so I could discredit these other ridiculous reviews. Really guys?? Well, my family has been going to Aldi since it opened and it has truly been a godsend. With 2 little kids and a baby starting to eat solid foods, our grocery bills at our other store had been continuing to rise and we were having to cut back on things a lot. Then Aldi opened and we honestly, literally save hundreds a month while being able to get even more than we could at our old grocery store. It's always disorienting and takes a few visits before you find your way around a new store, but I'm there every weekend now and I love it. I also love the Aldi finds and seasonal items that change from week to week. I can get my go-to groceries and see what other fun and interesting things they have. Because we save so much money I usually get a few interesting things to try. Oh and they were the perfect place to stock up on fun snacks and brats for our Oktoberfest party. I haven't had a problem with any of the employees. I appreciate efficiency over hand holding, though they've always been amicable to me and my kids. Whenever the lines start to get long, they'll open another. I assume thats one more way they're able to save money on Resources to offer lower prices. They Don't just pay someone to sit at an empty register waiting for people to come. Lastly, the environmentally conscious heart of this company is impressive and honorable and my family is so happy to be a part of supporting their efforts. read more

I was looking back at a negative review I wrote about this ALDI a while back, and I decided a new, more positive review was in order. Since the pandemic, I have been going to this location and it keeps getting better and better. There are still lines because of the great prices, but it is very organized and the staff are very quick when checking people out. I've discovered what nice chicken products they offer, and the fresh, fairly priced produce. Everything is still a great deal here and the employees they have now are friendly and efficient. Aldies customer service wasted my time and gas, telling me they had the items i wanted at a specific price . When i got to store they had items but the price was way higher .I called back they had no idea how they quoted lower price.Next time i will not waste my time ! read more

I'd give it zero stars if I could. Horrible. Today was the first time I went to Aldi and I will never ever go back. Rude staff who obviously hate life. Throwing pallets as they unload them and stock shelves. Throwing things into carts as if they are the ones paying for the items they are damaging, one person working a register with no direction of where the line starts or ends causing confusion and arguments. I will stick to my Wegmans and pay the extra $1 than deal with that kind of trash. read more
