ALDI - Grocery Near Me - Arroyo Grande, California

This Aldi store is exactly what I would expect growing up in the Midwest with Aldi being a regular part of my life... Aldi excels at the following: staples at excellent prices. Things like flour, butter, eggs, milk, sugar, canned goods, bulk nuts for baking, jams, peanut/almond butter, cereals, honey, and other dry goods. Their prices and quality cannot be beat. If you are feeding a large family or baking for a crowd this is your best bet for buying. Most of their canned goods, jams/jellies and packaged goods do not contain high fructose corn syrup which I find to be a good thing. They also have a large selection of low carb goods, Gluten free items and other specialty items (at super low prices when compared to Trader Joe's and others!) If you are hesitant to try their items, everything is guaranteed with a money back no questions asked policy. They also have a huge selection of wonderful cheeses, deli meats, imported marinated olives and artichokes, grass fed cheeses from Kerrygold at half price from other stores. Their Aldi brand goat's cheese and other cheese varieties have won numerous awards and are delicious! Being here in wine country this store is a great place to pick up some wonderful cheese to pair with your local finds for that next cocktail or tasting party. Don't forget to check out the Aldi special buys: these are items that are available for a week or two at most. They are usually seasonal, things like garden tools at one recent point (we picked up high quality shovels, rakes and a garden ho at $3.99 each. Same shovels at the big home store were $29.99. I know this because I had actually bought one and ended up returning it after visiting Aldi!) Other recent trips yielded a great metal bathroom 3 tier shelf for $20, a rechargeable work light that my boyfriend uses on just about every project around the house for $15, nice leather sandals for me for $7, a wonderful PFOA free nonstick pan for $8, and a stepstool that holds 300lbs for $10. We also got all our tomato plants, jalapeño plants, banana pepper plants, parsley, and organic potting soil this spring for our patio container garden. They are all growing very well! Our guest room even boasts a queen size 12 inch cool gel memory foam mattress I got at Aldi a few years ago when I lived in Southern California. It was $99 and is better quality and more comfortable than the $1800 tempur-pedic mattress it replaced! Even has a 20 year warranty. For $99! Can't beat that! While Aldi may not have the best variety in fresh meats, seafood or fresh produce, what is there is usually good quality at an affordable price. I like the grass fed ground beef at $5/lb and whenever they have lamb it is usually very good and very affordable too! A visit to Aldi will likely need to be supplemented with another store to make your entire groceries for the week/month but you are sure to save on the things that you do find there! These are just a few reasons I don't miss a week at my local Aldi store, maybe you should too! read more

It is not awesome to have to find a quarter to get a shopping cart while you are carrying two kids. And the. There was only one person doing checkout. Not worth the savings, I walked out. read more

This place is great! Does it have everything? No. But it carries all the essentials. I could care less about name brands. Give me quality and good prices! It's easy in and easy out. I don't mind bagging my own and I don't mind the quarter for a shopping cart, it's better than seeing Aldi carts all over town that were abandoned. Everything I purchased was top notch and tasted great. And by the way they treat their employees well with good pay, benefits and major holidays off. Will shop @ Aldis whenever possible! read more

This place is pretty cool definitely a good deal on eggs and milk. Pretty hit and miss on name brand foods that can beat Vons on sale prices. The home brands a 3star quality. All in a pretty good bang for you buck store. read more

I really like ALDI because it has everything I am looking for. I also like how nice and kind the cashiers are. Yet, I went in on Saturday and a hispanic girl with tattoes was very rude and treated me as though I was stupid. She said I needed to give her the "exact amount of change." She yelled and tapped with her fingernails to a note that she wanted me to read. She kept on doing this and kept rolling her eyes, she did not care that there were other people in line. She was also very rude and racist because she did not greet hispanics only white olderly people. She needs to be retrained!! When do we have to give the exact change? Obviously, if you are a cashier, that is part of your job. read more

After a couple visits, I know what to get and there are some great values. Great condiments -- I bought 3 types of mustard, all of them rad. Their egg noodles are A+ and so are their traditional retried beans. All my selections are super random. I've had their hummus, cream puffs, yogurt sticks -/ all as good as name brands. Groceries are OK. Great deal on La Croix 12-packs. Clancy brand chips are pretty weak, but they have good pork rinds. Great deals here with more organic items popping up more often. read more

Aldis is a great place to shop. Don't listen to all the whiners who thought that it would be a Trader Joe's. Definitely shop there and see for yourselves!!! read more

I also do not carry quarters but luckily I only needed a few items so I carried the 4 items I needed. The layout was a bit confusing and I had trouble finding a few items and wasted time walking around. Store was clean and the cashier was fairly friendly. I need a few more trips there to make a better comparison. read more

It's great. No- there isn't a "toothpaste aisle" and there's not a "baby aisle" nor a "pet supplies aisle" but they probably do have toothpaste, cat food and diapers- just not a huge variety. The day I needed shortening I was surprised to see a large can for half of what Vons charges for the smallest can. I rarely use shortening and was a bit conflicted for a minute but bought the stuff and moved on with my life. They didn't have pineapple juice, which seemed odd to me. I like that the bread is so much cheaper than anywhere else. I feel like this is what it might be like at grocery store in communist country. I'm into it. read more

Been shopping twice since the grand opening. Have not been disappointed! With a family of 6 to shop and cook for, groceries usually cost an arm and a leg, after shopping here it was less than half of what I would spend anywhere else in this area. The store is very clean, the staff works hard and are extremely friendly, the lines move quickly (which is nice shopping with kids), and the bagging area is awesome (I'm kind of OCD about how I bag). Yes you have to pay for the carts but I understand their reasoning, it'll be a normal thing in no time (just like the reusable bags at the beginning). They also have the Aldi double back guarantee, I've never heard of that kind of guarantee anywhere else. All in all, I have found my new grocery store! read more

Love this store!! They have great selections of non gmo!! This has become one of my routine go-to's. Saving money and getting quality products makes this a great place to shop. Lines are always short and staff is helpful and always friendly. Clean, clean store! Love how u retrieve n return the grocery carts with a quarter and the wheels actually glide with ease. Why would anybody want to fight the crowds at all the other grocery stores that carry mostly GMO foods. read more

Love this grocery store. My favorite, great quality and prices. Very clean and if you don't have a quarter to get a cart if you go inside they'll give you one so you can grab a cart. The staff is super friendly and helpful read more

I can't cook without a recipie so I hit the grocery stores with a list. This place is not for people like me. It is for bargain hunters that can create the recipie in their heads based on what they find. Good pricing but none of my regular brands. Adventure seakers this store is for you. They have things from car covers to avocados. I will try again just to prove I haven't gotten into a rut myself but I am not optomistic. read more

Great prices. It's almost all their generic brand, but quality is pretty good. The only drawback is lack of selection. I always have to go to another grocery store to get everything I need for the week. Bring a quarter to unlock a shopping cart read more

Originally From NJ - & We Have Aldis there - Your NOT Gonna find these type of prices they have @ This store @ Von's that's A given! All their Store brands are Awesome! Since they Opened I DO NOT SHOP ANYWHERE ELSE! read more

Been there 4-5 times and not friendly at all. Not a word at checkout when you are spending 60-100+ . No hello or anything. Then one guy got mad that I had the cart in some position?? Asked for help once from no prices listed and the girl took the product and scanned it and said the price and that was it. Very cold for a new store to be that way. Seems so small like a souped up 7-11 almost from barely much more stock. When it was the cookie crock they had so much more stock and friendly. Not sure I am going to go back any time soon. read more

After reading Paul M's review I wasn't sure what to expect. Surprisingly, I liked the store and have been going back weekly. While the selection of items is somewhat limited, I have found many of them to be of a high quality. I enjoy the fruits and vegetables I have been getting there. I bought a tenderloin roast for Christmas from Aldi, and was very impressed with it. The quality was excellent and the price was good. The employees are very helpful and nice. The store is clean. Overall, the prices seem lower than most of the grocery stores in this area. I will keep coming back. read more

While I don't find everything on my list at Aldi's, it does carry a nice selection of gluten free products, fruit, vegetables, bread and crackers from France, Canada, and Italy. I can eat bread made in France (with wheat and gluten) without having stomach problems, whereas I can't eat bread made in the USA. I find that their produce is very reasonably priced and in good condition. I don't like bagging my groceries, but I do save money shopping there. read more

Great Prices! Clean store. Friendly and helpful staff. The checkout line moved super fast. No waiting. Not like the other grocery stores in the area. That's a welcomed change. I also like the idea of a smaller, simplified store without 10 or more selections of a product to have to choose from. I was able to go in, get what I needed and be done super quick. Awesome! read more

This is a hit and miss store. It could be better coming from a GM of a grocery store. Your aisles aren't faced or stocked and your shift manager gets $18.50. The staff isn't helpful. In fact when I went in they were talking about customers over their little headset. Unprofessional, rude and barely spoke to you. The cashier rudely asked me to give her the bag I wanted to buy as I was picking it out. You're paying these people to barely make that store stocked, run efficiently and effectively, your workers are barely doing anything. My thing is if you're getting paid enough make your store look decent. The cashier can clean other registers, workers don't need to come out the back to see what is being talked about and going back. Produce needs ALOT of work. It's barely fresh. This can be improved. read more

Jerk manager is rude to customers. The off brands they carry are cheap and tastes like it. Spend a few more quarters and go to a normal store with nice employees. read more

The reviews below me obviously don't know how Aldi works. This Aldi looks just like the ones they have in Europe. Yes you will need a quarter for your cart. Yes everything is in boxes. They have unknown brand names because that what's makes it cheap. You don't pay for the name just the product. It's clean and easy to shop and it's cheap. I liked it and will go back. read more

Love this place. Cheap with good quality. Good price for cheese and fruit. Always something different.

First of all you have to get a cart from an employee that gives it to you . When you go in to the store I was expecting to see a deli with fresh cold cuts and salads but no nothing like that here . No shelves just open boxes lined up on top of each other . I noticed so elderly people struggling to pull an item out of these boxes . And there aren't a lot of choices for products . One brand for salami, orange juice, etc etc. I want different brands for different products . So, I got just a few items and went to check out and gave the checker as usual my bags. He put them in the basket and put my items in the grocery cart and indicated I would have to bag my my groceries on a counter set up for that purpose. Why would I go here for a very limited selection . I can go to Foods For Less get more choices and bag my groceries . I was expecting a higher end store and that's not here. Also, after leaving with my cart and putting my bags in my car there was no place for carts in the parking lot and the parking spaces are smaller so you can't leave your cart in the parking lot without possibly hitting a car . You have to bring your cart back to the cart attendant at the entrance . Very strange. I will never return to this store. read more

I used to shop in this Center a lot. But since this shopping center has been remodeled, I have only been there 3 times. I hate the parking lot. It is some kind of strange maze and a prime spot for accidents to happen. As for ALDI, this store is a really weird place. First thing is that you have to rent the grocery carts. It is only a quarter but you get it back if you bring the cart back. Problem with that is there is a line to get the cart and another line to bring it back. Also the things that are sold in this store are brand names I have never heard of. Not sure where they come from or if they are even from the United States. About the only familiar name I saw was Coca Cola. This store has groceries combined with boots, small appliances, luggage and even blow up mattresses. When you check out, the clerk puts everything back into your cart and directs you to counter where you bag your own groceries. I doubt that I will be back to shop here unless they have some kind of a fabulous deal going that I just can't resist. I really miss Cookie Crock which was in the location where ALDI is now. read more

Though the prices seem competitive, there is just no way you can do all of your grocery shopping at this store. If you love going from store to store and unlocking a cart with a quarter and bagging your own groceries away from the checkstand, then this is a good choice. However, if you'd rather just get it done, like fresh meat and produce, and a large selection of grocery items, this is not the store. They waste an entire aisle or weird stuff like footwear and blow-up beds. What's with that? read more

Very excited they opened up right down the street! I've always been a fan of ALDI and their quality products for a lower price than most places. I understand it may be confusing to people who have never shopped at ALDI and are unfamiliar with their practices, but it's definitely worth it. Step 1, always bring a quarter since you need to use it as a deposit to get a cart. People do not realize how much businesses lose from carts being stolen or lost. You get the quarter back after returning it with the other carts, attaching the buckle to the cart that pops the quarter back out. I did donate my quarter cart to a couple that looked confused and also said they didn't have a quarter. Step 2, always bring a bag because they expect you to bag your own things. I love this because first it saves on using plastic or paper bags like most places in California but also poor attendants have to spend their day bagging groceries, I like to help out as much as I can. Step 3, enjoy the array of awesome products. Most of their products are imports hence why so cheap but always quality. European countries, where they import most of their products, don't use a lot of preservatives or bad material like most American products. I bought a German face wash for $2.50 that was almost organic with no harmful chemicals. Cannot beat that! Another good section is their produce, always a nice selection plus very affordable too. Can't say enough good things about this place. Grab your reusable bag and quarter to check it out for yourself. You won't be disappointed! read more

Aldi is a nice clean store with affordable prices! I love the Brioche and their pizzas. You have to bring your own bags which is the norm and bag your own groceries which I'm used to since I also shop at Food 4 Less. Yes you need a quarter for a cart but it's not a big deal. You get it back when you return it. I could see shopping here as a bit of a challenge if you are alone and disabled, elderly or with very young children. Overall, I like this store and it's a nice addition to the five cities. read more

Good prices. Didn't have some of the items I was looking for. They carry a lot of generic brands which is ok but i was looking for specific items. They do carry a lot of organic items and at a decent price. read more

Why 3 stars?! This store could have so much potential. I think their very competitive the concept is a little different but you can use to that. Prices are very reasonable which is why I've been shopping here. One thing that never goes out of Style is good old customer service which in my opinion lack so much. To start the checkers except for a couple don't even bother addressing you when you make it to their check out line, so in-personable. The whole cart situation is not something we're use to but checkers make it even more challenging because they act like if their doing you a favor by giving you a cart because you shop more than anticipated. Funny since this one of the things you need to shop and support ALDI as a business. Management really needs to create a relationship with their customers. To much competition out there and what ever makes you better you capitalize on and that's how customers keep coming back. You build loyalty. Work on friendliness you have the pricing right for the most part. read more
