I wasn't shopping for anything in particular but I wanted to see the new location. I picked up a basket and kept adding items. How could I pass up a nice size head of cauliflower? Or nice big radishes? Oh look I needed celery. As a cooking novice, I went with the "regular" mushrooms but I saw other types that I may need to come back for. The refrigerators had local dairy products, meat, and pierogies. I had to get the spinach and ricotta pierogies (made in McKees Rocks). I can't say no to a snickerdoodle cookie and there were pumpkin snickerdoodles too. Lots of homemade breads, pies, cinnamon rolls, etc. It is the attention to detail that stood out to me. The radishes were in a resealable (ziploc like) bag. The mushrooms were in a clam shell container. I didn't have to find storage containers which I appreciate. The staff were very friendly and well versed in the products. Ample parking. If you miss the GPS turn, make the next right and come in through the back of the parking lot. Firstly, it wasn't too crowded like other surrounding pumpkin patches. The farm is beautiful and has plenty of parking. They have farm animals, a vintage store, hayrides, pumpkin patch, little market, and then a coffee truck, Mars Farmhouse Cafe pop-up, and a brewery pop-up. Today, family members grow vegetables such as corn and fruits such as apples. According to the family's website, they use both conventional and organic farming practices. On the farm's website, I also read that throughout the year, Shenot Farm offers events such as hayrides; pick-your-own flowers, apples, and pumpkins; and pumpkin-smashes. In the autumn they sell flowers, pumpkins, cornstalks, Thanksgiving turkeys, and fruit baskets, and in the winter they sell Christmas trees and wreaths. On a Saturday, my husband and I visited this farm's market to browse their foods. We parked our vehicle in their free parking lot. Inside the market, we saw foods such as lettuce, cabbage, green beans, brussels sprouts, beets, plums, sausages, chicken meats, eggs, milk, cheeses, apple ciders, cookies, pies, fudges, popcorns, jams, bread loaves, bagels, seasonings, sauces and dressings, salsas, applesauces, syrups, dessert mixes, granolas, teas, honeys, ice creams, etcetera! We also saw some non-food items such as candles and t-shirts. I selected an orange-colored "cheddar" cauliflower head, apple crisp mix, caramel-apple-pie fudge, and jars of banana butter, strawberry jelly, and apple butter. My husband and I had not previously eaten a few of the unique products, so we felt excited to try them. At the checkout counter, an employee promptly greeted us, accurately rang up our purchase, carefully bagged our foods, and thanked us. Each food cost roughly several dollars.

On a Saturday, my husband and I visited the retail store. When we entered the store, the employee near the door did not greet us. As we walked around the two floors, we saw foods such as pumpkins, apples, corn, tomatoes, apple ciders, pies, cookies, chips, jellies, honeys, chocolate bars, and even Penn State ice cream. We also saw non-food products such as tote bags, holiday decorations, serving trays, and greeting cards. I picked out a bag of honey-crisp apples, a box of peach-cobbler mix, a loaf of zucchini bread, a peanut-butter chocolate bar, and a jar of fig preserves. Prices are extremely reasonable, and marked-down produce is a boon for budgeting if you are prepared to use something day-of, or are okay with some mild cosmetic defects. I often spur a meal around what needs to go simply to take advantage of such nice food before it wastes. The selection outside of fruits, vegetables, and floral include a fun variety of snacks and pantry staples which, similarly, without driving truly outside of town, you cannot otherwise get at a reasonable quality, if at all. Springdale is quite lucky to have this market, and it is worth appreciating while it is open for the season.
