Inside, the staff are similarly colourful and inviting. My favourite staff member is the resident pet, a Pyrenean Mountain Dog which is more like a white fluffy horse than a dog. I met him when he came to visit me - apparently I now occupy the home he used to live in, so I can expect some more visits. Which is no problem at all, because he's gorgeous and almost majestic. (Seriously, walking the short distance to the vet to return him saw me running into about four strangers and each of them commented on "my" dog.) I've also visited Red Hill Veterinary Clinic as a customer. This was the stomping ground for my cat, Millie, until she moved on with a new owner, a nice Canadian couple. The service was always efficient (not much in the way of waiting around) and the fees were typical of most vets (i.e. unfortunately, expensive). Those looking to park here, look out - its situated on a main road with a few blind spots and finding a park close by is possible but challenging, depending on the time of day.

And if the issue is a small one, chances are you have. If it's not, chances are major pet issues will cost you, both here or somewhere else. The sort-of-family-dog Bubbles, currently chasing possums on a full-time basis at my abode, has been through a string of issues relating to a knee joint displacement issue. We had one leg operated on at Ashgrove Vet after a series of appointments at the same place. The surgery seemed to be fairly successful in that the dog was no longer hopping about. Unfortunately, two years later, Bubbles is still refusing to use the leg that was operated on except when strictly necessary, and will not use it when urinating. (This is not the fault of the surgeon or the vet, but of the spread inherent in Bubbles' condition.) Her second leg succumbed to the same condition, as we were warned it likely would. As the leg has worsened and vet visits ramped up, the clinic recently took an x-ray of the leg to look for issues. Except they x-rayed the wrong leg. With the communication issue out of the way, Bubbles is now recovering from her second surgery on her other leg. A few days have passed and her health has soared. Ashgrove Avenue Vet is perfect for people with fairly healthy dogs who just need check-ups. If your dog is bothered by a more major or long-term affliction, get ready to save. It'll cost you.

If I had a question and was at home they were always obliged to help best they could answers any questions over the phone. In comparison to other clinics they are a bit more expensive but their love and concern for animal health is second to none.

Their prices are competitive with others however the warm smiles you get in entering their nice clean shop, you know that this is more than a vet surgery, its a community of pet lovers and professionals. The friendly staff went out of their way to explain to me all the health requirements needed for my new puppy without any expectation of joining. This was also reinforced a week later when I dropped past and the friendly staff provided me with some well needed answers and relief prior to picking up my puppy. I have since selected Wilston Vet as my vet for my puppy, Napoleon and have loved coming in for our check-ups and vaccinations.

It is a sad state of affairs when your dog gets a spa day and you don't. *folds arms and stomps…read morefeet*. Yet, off the four-legged member of our house went this morning to Auchenflower Vet for his grooming session with the other half of this dynamic duo, Gary. The process is as simple as dropping your pet in on your way to work and wait for them to call and say they've finished. We were able to pick up our fur-monster just after lunch. For $38.50 he was washed, clipped, and nails tended to (no, there was no nail painting). He's come home sans novelty bows in hair (thank goodness) and I'm yet to see any other dog actually be excited to walk into their vet. A day of adventure for your pet, and a day of dog-free activity for you (seriously, have you tried vaccumming with a puppy around!?!)
