Our family works with 2 hygienists for cleanings, Viktoriya and Kelly, both are top notch and work with extreme attention to detail! I have recently completed phase 1 of a tooth implant process. It happens to be one of my very front teeth and you can imagine how vulnerable that might make you feel. Dr. Kwong is the dental surgeon that did the procedure and I was nothing less than blown away at how easy and painless it all was. I experienced virtually no pain during or after the procedure. There was very little swelling and absolutely no bruising. At the moment I am fitted with a temporary tooth as the grafting takes place, I will get my permanent implant in July. I'd say he is extremely good at what he does. And I would also have to mention the women who run administration, Michelle and Karolina. Awesomely competent and well organized, super friendly too. As is everyone in the office! Karolina was also the assistant during my implant surgery and she was fantastic! This is an office that runs top to bottom like a high end and well oiled machine. I've had bad experiences as a kid/teenager. For weeks, and hours leading up to the appointment, I was getting anxiety and my husband reassured me I was in good hands. My first experience was with the front desk, and the young ladies were lovely and genuine. They had my insurance set up; I didn't need to lift a finger. In LESS THAN 12 hours I got my return from Sunlife (benefits company). It was so simple and quick! The actual office is state of the art, quick, and effective. Everything including X-rays are shown up on LCD TVs in front of you so you know what the dentists plan on fixing or improving. I had Kelly as my dental hygenist. She was kind, relatable, understanding, and empathetic. Did I mention she has a great sense of humour? She was professional and made me feel super comfortable. She demonstrates a true passion for her role and her attention to detail was impeccable. She also explained what plaque and tartar was and how it could impact teeth and gums. During the cleaning process I was fighting to stay awake! I was so relaxed I could have taken a nap! She gave me the remote to the TV and I watched TV and relaxed while she did her thing. Normally I would be gripping the edge of the chair in fear. Dr. Ma is very friendly and understanding. She has a great sense of humour and does her best to make her patients feel welcome. You can also see the openness she has with the hygienists and the sense of partnership they share. The experience from beginning to end has really reduced my fear of dentists and have already booked future appointments with anticipation. I am young and wanting to protect my teeth for decades to come. They have really changed my view of someone putting hands and loud gadgets in my face. "They didn't have time on her first booking"?? Get ready for ANOTHER payment. Neither I or my wife have EVER had to go for two sessions for a cleaning & x-rays. Nor have I ever heard of this.. -An email she received in response to a query about the price was a little patronizing and that was the final nail in the coffin for her.. The short story: She's a masters student & we are both covered by her plan. Even with the coverage Alma is still quite expensive, and the estimates are quite inaccurate as is the process once you get there. I will now pay 1/3 of what she might have paid for the EXACT same thing at Kingsgate Dental & the estimates are always within a few dollars as well. The waits are also 1/3 compared to Alma (they also open on the occasional Sunday). Alma should also get someone else to reply to customer service emails lol. The bright side..?? The bottom half of her mouth is pretty clean :)

They are under the UBC extended health plan here, so it is quite cheap to keep your smile looking like a million bucks if you are a student. I paid around $25 last visit. After a hasty emergency surgery, I was left with a lopsided smile that I hid, and an intense distrust of dentists. When I finally decided to do something about it, a friend of mine recommended West 9th Dental. She had also needed extensive work done, and assured me that the staff were gentle and attentive. Her smile had come out looking like a Crest commercial, so I took the plunge, and decided to get my crowns replaced. The attention to detail and care showed by the staff put me at ease, but what impressed me most was how much they checked in with me. Unlike other dentists, Dr. Rai and her staff really made me feel heard, both during the procedure, as well as after. They're serious about building your perfect smile. They put a lot of effort into making sure I was satisfied with the results. I almost cried when I smiled at myself in the mirror for the first time afterwards. It was worth every penny. The past two years with Dr Tran have been great! She is kind, patient, and respectful of my situation. She has been generous with procedures to keep my fangs in top chomping shape; I know, every dentist should be like this. Marlene the hygienist is a marvel. She's working on her degree at UBC, so always has fresh ideas. I love that her instrument tray is sparkling and everything is arranged with the touch of an artist. What convinced me to review Dr Tran was seeing two young children laughing and running to get into the dental chair. Wait - aren't kids afraid of the dentist? And the kids don't get to visit the treasure chest until after the appointment, so it wasn't giddiness over a new trinket. So I'm not a special patient after all. Dr Tran is a special dentist! Located at West Broadway and MacDonald, close to 99 and 9 bus stops. Parking can be tight on Kits streets. Lots of fabulous shops and cafes in the area for post-dentist meandering.

My first temporary for my first implant was so nice, right in front, it could have remained as the permanent tooth. He since has started sending them out to be done by someone else, but I think Dr. Khodadadi does a better job on doing the tooth himself. He is a perfectionist and that is important when it comes to your teeth. I would have made him our permanent dentist if he were in the USA. Very disappointed I could not do that. Our coverage does not apply in Canada. Due to covid, we cannot go into Canada anymore. If you do live there or meet the restrictions, I highly recommend his office for all your dental needs.

That said, I would like to commend Dr Hua. He has been my dentist for the last few years, and while I expect that I will never again find a dentist as cheap as my previous one, I haven't felt that Dr Hua or Brentwood Dental has over-charged me in any of my visits. I don't carry any dental insurance, so I must admit that I do tend to only visit the dentist only when I can no longer avoid it. Most recently, I visited Dr Hua for the extraction of two wisdom teeth. The initial consultation included a 3d x-ray and a very clear explanation of what was needing to happen, and the range of what it would cost. One of them had disintegrated and I knew that I could not prolong dealing with them any longer. The procedure took under an hour and I wasn't even aware that Dr Hua was wrapping up, he was that smooth. It was as painless as can be expected for local anesthetic, I have no doubts about the quality of work and, happily, came in at the low end of the cost estimation. All in all, I would not hesitate to recommend Brentwood Dental, assuming that all the dentists there are of equal quality to Dr Hua.

They use incredibly outdated archaic methods and practices, almost as if this dental practice was from the 1800s. I remember dreading coming here, and their lack of understanding and competence was actually so bad that it put me off going to the dentist for years. Thankfully I found a modern dental practice in downtown Vancouver which delightfully addressed all of my concerns, and helped me improve my dental health tenfold. I hope Seafair Dental Center closes down for good. What a terrible awful place.

Unlike many dental offices out there, Dr. Kwong is not all about making that extra buck. One memorable experience: After I experienced some jaw pain, I came to see her to check things out. My teeth were all fine, so nothing she could do, but she suggested I go to a RMT who specializes in intra-oral massage. I had NEVER heard of this before, but I went to the specific RMT she mentioned and it was life changing. Seriously. After just one session, my jaw pain was gone. I was so relieved and grateful! If Dr Lee hasn't suggested that, I'm not sure what I would have done.

Why patient need gloves and why not keep my own mask? My teeth cleaning done in 45 minutes with X-rays and exam but guess what was the billing -- exam, 4 X-rays (bite one), 3.5 units for scaling and floride coat .. when I argued that it's over and illegal billing, apparently Dr Lee made the staff bill template and it's set. Everyone must bill 3.5 unit of scaling along with other procedures as a must.. is it legal? Or over billing? Shouldn't be it as work and time needed? It's about making more money
