What a nice addition to SM. Right downtown. They have a huge selection of vinyl. Bringing back a little bit of nostalgia.

A couple of locations came up on my Google search and I chose this one. I'm glad I did. Not only did I find a Rush album I had been looking for some time and was about to order it online, but I got it brand new and at a great price. I did go thru a lot of their used inventory and really felt they have a good selection of every music genre you can think of. Pricing was also fair across the board. I didn't see anything overpriced. I would've bought a few more albums but I have thousands of records and running out of space for them so these days I have to be more selective with what I buy. Oh, and they also have a good selection of CDs, Cassettes and even 8 Track tapes. Now the one area I will give constructive feedback is in there organization. Especially when it comes to their CDs and cassettes which are just laying in stacks and you really have to move things around to see everything. But it could be because they have such a large volume of inventory that they're out of space. Something I can get so I won't ding them for it. I will also compliment the gentleman that Rand me up. When he saw the album I was buying he told me a personal story on how he had gone to see Rush during that tour. I always appreciate when the folks behind the counter take interest in their clients enough to engage in a little conversation. That goes a long way in my book. I definitely plan on returning when in town again and recommend to anyone looking for records and other physical media fairly priced

Oh, Waterloo - I have loved you since you were down the street across from Whole Foods, throwing all the great free SXSW parking lot parties, and having the most intimate and memorable in-store shows I was lucky to be a part of that included Alejandro Escobedo, Spoon, Frank Black, Brandi Carlisle, and so many others for so many years. But look at you now - all grown up, down the street, upgraded with more space and a larger beautiful in-store stage, and with the same level of service and friendly staff you have always had. I love the new pad and of course, the plentiful parking spots. Waterloo is the best record store, in town, with the most varied selection. If they do not have a record in-store they are down to order it for you and it usually doesn't take more than a couple of days. I have ordered new and obscure vinyl titles from Waterloo and they are always prompt and ready to find and get what I need in my hands. I appreciate this because sometimes I want to get a specific artist or album on vinyl and Waterloo makes it so so easy and welcoming to do that with them. I come here at least 5+ times a year especially around upcoming birthdays and holiday where I want to find a unique gift or album for my friends or family. My father especially loves all of the unique and music-related t-shirts I get from here that I gift him. He has quite a collection now and I am proud to say all of his music (old and new) tees he has are from me purchasing from Waterloo. Check out what they have in stock (near the back/stage area). You will find something for you and then some. Don't ever change or go no where, Waterloo. You are a staple to this city and to my routine and vinyl-buying needs. Congratulations on the new space!

Ive been trying to get him to take a break and go to Batcave for some good music therapy and we were impressed by the owner's knowledge of the music in his shop as random a all the crates are. Super friendly and doesn't hover. We were the only ones in the shop at the time and he didn't distract by asking hundreds of questions, he just let us explore and answered questions as we had them. Highly recommend for good 'ole fashion treasure hunt. The location in Artisan Alley is super cute, and from the outside the store looked promising. I was specifically hoping to find a meaningful vinyl for him. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. When we opened the door, there were records spread all over the floor and a person sitting on the ground sorting through them, making it difficult to even step inside the very small space. Between the uneven flooring and the clutter, it felt chaotic and uncomfortable to navigate. There was only one other couple inside, and honestly it already felt overcrowded. I understand small vintage shops can be eclectic, but this didn't feel organized at all. I even had to ask who the owner was because we were looking for something specific, and while he may have been busy dealing with a recent record purchase, he seemed distracted and not particularly interested in helping customers. I really wanted to love this place because it has charm and potential, but the overall experience felt stressful instead of enjoyable.

As with the other CD Exchanges, you're almost guaranteed to find whatever it is you're looking for and so much more. As a fan of martial arts movies, I really enjoy this location as their selection has consistently been better and varied than some of the other locations'. The trade off is that their game selection isn't as impressive. That's not to say that it isn't good, there is in fact a lot to look through, I've just found more hidden gems at other locations. Though I typically skip over the front part if the store during my visits, it is worth mentioning that there is a TON of music to go through and an impressive amount of memorabilia such as action figures and Funko Pop!s, posters, bags and shirts, and a lot more. Everything is fairly priced and there have been instances where I've paid less than what I would have elsewhere or online. If you're a movie buff looking for a quiet place to pass the time, you absolutely have to visit the Movie Exchange.
