BUYER BEWARE! Calling all Salon owners! Alerting the BBB, Florida DBPR, all social media, Angie's list, Yelp, Instagram, etc. etc. Read this: My family member spent $266 to have her head of brunette/blonde highlighted ends colored to one light shade to eventually get to the new silver/grey hair color. She specifically explained what she wanted when she originally scheduled the appointment and repeated it to the stylist as well as produced photos. Her length of hair does not warrant a turnaround color in only one hour as was spent on her. Her short to medium length had more dark brunette in it requiring much longer time spent processing it. But, what was more upsetting is the colorist Lo did not listen to her request to have her entire head colored one color. Conversely, she allegedly gave her a full foil highlight service costing exorbitantly higher than other 5 star salons and spas. My family member did not get what she requested or paid for which she immediately communicated to the owner, Corinne. I have all of the communications texted between them. It is not only concerning, but alarming how this proprietor refused to accept any responsibility on the part of the salon pointing the blame on the client. The attitude is no less than intimidating and bullying from the owner. In addition, Corinne refused to refund the full amount for the service which was not done correctly neither achieved the results expected. She wrote to my family member stating she would personally do it over and would accommodate an after hours appointment, but then retracted those comments trying to reschedule her with the original colorist Lo who did not listen to the customer then proceeded to blame the client. There is a grave problem with this salon owner's attitude toward clientele and how she treats those her staff does not satisfy. I am a tampa local who travels to orlando just to get my haircut...yeahh, that's how good this place is. I have always went to asian salons in the past. Why? Because I assumed they will know how to cut asian hair. But never again will I go back. Ever. All the asians might be going to New York/San Fan for their cuts, but I'll be going to Orlando. For all my asians trust me, go here and you will be converted. As you can see, I did come back to get an actual haircut (look at my profile pic)! And I love the results! From my past stylists, they always say I should never get full bangs since my face is "round" (them baby cheeks..), but tiffany did AWESOME (again..look at my profile pic). She made sure to cut in all the right ways to make my face look slimmer. While her assistant styled it to give it life, and gave me suggestions and tips on how to recreate it. To be honest, my profile picture doesn't do justice since it really looks really really good in real life! My fiance said I looked like Rainie Yang when the cut was fresh hehehe :). But just a forewarning, this place is not cheap! And you might get your haircut late at night like at 9pm (like me lol..don't be afraid if you were to be scheduled at 9pm since although their closing time is 9:30, they will stay as late as they have to, to finish you up!)! But when you think about it, the service you get here, and a nice cut/style you get in the end makes it really worth it. Up north, I pay the same price, but I was satisfied, but never happy with my cut (ie it was lifeless). Even though I got mine late at night, the quality is still there. I went to Alchemy a few weeks ago with NO idea of what I wanted, tons of ideas and pics. I knew I wanted a change, but not too much, color, but not too bold...yes, I was THAT girl going in there.... The decor is SO unique and cool/comfortable, I was immediately greeted by, not just one, but a few of the staff members and didn't have to wait long for Tiffany to walk over and introduce herself to me. She was assisted by Kaley (hope I spelled that right) who got me wine and helped me get situated. They both took time to get to know me and my hair habits before even talking about what I was looking for, she looked at my skin color, type, etc. She cut my hair first and we chatted like we were old friends, the entire process (cut, color, highlight, wash, style) took a few hours but there wasn't one second that I didn't feel comfortable, happy and taken care of. She remembered how I said I usually styled my hair and she styled it similar, I felt like she took everything I said into account and didn't leave a single detail out. The finished product MORE THAN exceeded my expectations, I felt like I went in there with a very loose idea of what I was looking for and Tiffany figured out what was best and made it happen. I have loved my hair since the second I looked in the mirror and continue to love it more and more every day. I have recommended her and this salon to everyone I know. Lovely Lo and her apprentice Kim were fantastic! I came in with red hair gone wrong; I had asked my previous stylist for a natural coppery red with golden honey highlights but I ended up with damn near purple wine colored hair. Although it took me almost 3 weeks to get in for an appointment it was well worth the wait. First we blended my layers(I love the tousled/messy look but the layers were very abrupt) and then we began the five hour process of fixing my hair. Everyone was very attentive to me through the process and I was asked multiple times if I would like something to drink, how I was feeling and so on. The end result is truly beautiful. I haven't take any selfies yet to show off the color but it is exactly like the picture I brought in. I LOVE it and am so grateful that Lo and Kim put so much effort into making me happy. Maybe it's because I don't get to the salon very often, but I absolutely loved my experience here! The atmosphere is awesome--sort of reminiscent of a twenty-something's apartment, but with the perfect blend of cool. The chairs are vintage, the floors are worn, but the place has such a great ambience. The staff are super friendly, stylish, and adorable. Immediately I was asked if I needed anything, coffee or tea. It was great to sip coffee and feel a caffeine during an early morning hair cut, all the while feeling totally relaxed and pampered. Tiffany and her apprentice Whitney did such a great job with my hair. I've been trying to grow out my hair and didn't want to trim too much. Together, they gave me the perfect style--edgy but chic. My wife gets her hair done here regularly, but unfortunately, I've never had the chance to get cut here. I can, however speak to the one time I was perusing the product shelf. A male stylist approached me, to see if I had any questions. I had just got my hair cut the day previous, and was in need of some good product to keep the style up for as long as possible. After going over what I like, we chose the iron society water soluble pomade. He then went above and beyond, and sat me in the chair, and threw some in for me, and styled it to perfection. I couldn't believe the level of service. No appointment, I was just waiting for my wife to be done. My current stylist is a genius, and I can't imagine going anywhere else, but if the situation changes, I will absolutely make Alchemy my regular salon. read more

RUN, do not walk, VERY FAR FAR FAR AWAY FROM this salon. This is going to be a long review but the moral of the story is to STAY CLEAR from Lauren and from Alchemy Salon. This is my first online review of any type in my 30+ years of existence in this world. The experience was so horrendous that I felt I had to write a review. The ordeal happened when Lauren completely thinned out my hair and ruined the amazing natural volume I had waited years to I went to the consultation with Lauren and went prepared with multiple pictures of what I did not want or liked. I was VERY clear when telling her my likes and dislikes. The first time Lauren cut my hair was ok, nothing drastic or difficult, just a trim, exactly what I wanted. The second time I went to her because I had a cutting mishap at home, where about a 4 inch wide piece of hair was cut 4 1/2 inches shorter than the rest. So I went to her to have the ends of my hair evened out and to get a face frame, NOTHING ELSE. She asked me "Do you want me cut the volume like the LAST TIME?", (the last time being when I had specifically told her I hated lack of Volume and to only trim a little here or there). I answered yes, thinking that "like last time" meant, exactly like last time. My hair was blow dried and styled wavy and I left very happy UNTIL I GOT HOME. OH MY GOD!!!! I could not believe what I was seeing and feeling on my hair!!! Lauren had cut 70% of my hair volume!!!!!!!Exactly what I had told her multiple times I absolutely hated. Also she did a face frame that starts on the top of my head where the ear is, WHAT!!!! The "face frame" I can deal with BUT the 70% OF MY VOLUME CUT?, which I had waited 7 years for it to be like that and I specifically told her I loved it the way it was?!!!! I have 9 (because I counted) strands of hair and nothing else from the middle down. I look like I lost all my hair by sticking my hair over a garbage disposable and turning it on. I called the day after and explained everything and the salon gave me an appointment for the following week. After a couple of days I couldn't wait any longer and called the salon and asked to be seen sooner for a consult. They told me they had me booked with Lauren the following week to cut my hair again in order to fix it. CUT AGAIN!!!!! I told the receptionist that cutting too much, as I had stated before, had been the problem and that cutting it again would not restore my volume, OBVIOUSLY. I sat down with Lauren and I was calm, not rude, did not raise my voice but firm about what had happened. She apologized etc...... (said everything they are told to) but just told me there was nothing to do. I said that the only solution was to put it extensions in order to, at least, have volume, albeit fake, until my hair grew again. She told me they could not do that because it was expensive. I told her I wanted to speak to the manager and she said yes and brought her in. I explained everything again and she said she was sorry for the miscommunication. I told her there was no miscommunication because I had showed Lauren pictures and told her multiple times what it was I wanted. I asked about the extensions and she told me the person they had doing extensions was new at it was expensive and the salon was not willing fix my hair by doing that. I'm supposed to believe that the extensions are done by a complete newbie that doesn't know very well how to do it, but they still charge the expensive prices for the service? Sure. If they break it they have to fix it. If it turns out to be too expensive for them then that should be an incentive for them to hire stylists that actually listen to clients and now what they are doing in order for there to be less expensive fixes on their part. They completely refused and just told me that Lauren could tell me how to style my hair for it to look more voluminous. Reluctantly, I told Lauren to go ahead and use some product on my hair. She went ahead and used two products and heat styled it. Like I told her, it was a nice MIRAGE. They gave me a refund for the haircut and gave me one of the two products for free. First, a single product will not last the years that it will take for my hair to grow back and also I will not be using product and heat every other day and ruin what is left of my hair. As for the refund, could not care less about it, what I wanted was for them to fix it, if it turned out to be expensive for them that is not my problem. Now I have two options, to leave my hair grow, the 7 years I had waited before, cut it off at ear level, or pay hundreds of dollars out of pocket every 4-6 weeks for extensions. Definitely will always go to my hairstylist in Miami, where I am extremely happy to pay $200 for my haircut, as I can go there with peace of mind and relax knowing that the person doing my hair actually knows what she's doing and will always listen to what her client wants. read more

I LOVE this place! I have been going here for years and I haven't even lived in Orlando full-time since, um, 2004? (drove down from Gainesville a lot for hair appointments while I was in college!) Kristin is AMAZING, particularly for wavy/curly hair. I spent the past year living in Los Angeles and still only got my hair cut when I'd fly home! I trust Kristin with my hair more than I have ever trusted a stylist. Seriously, I never go in there wanting something in particular beyond "___ much shorter" or "how do you feel about bangs?" I just let her do her thing and I'm always terribly happy with the results. Hell, even when I needed a colorist in Los Angeles to keep up my (faux) blonde, I only used the person Kristin had recommended to me (an ex-Alchemy stylist who was also fabulous). Now I'm in DC, but I'm pretty darn sure I'll still be stopping by Alchemy whenever I'm back in Florida. :) read more

I absolutely do not recommend this salon! It saddens me to say this as I have MANY friends and family members that have been going to this salon for years. I had made an appointment for a color service, and sent the salon current pictures, pictures of what I wanted, and a full hair history. I am not new to hair color, and have been dying my hair for years. My hair has always been in a somewhat healthy condition, aside from the ends that I occasionally just need to chop off. I went in for my appointment and discussed with my colorist again what my hair history was, and what I was looking for. We both agreed that I would not be able to get exactly what I wanted in one session, but I would get the base of what I wanted, which I was totally fine with. We discussed services that would be provided, and a price. The price almost made me jump out of my seat, but I knew Alchemy was the very best (or so I thought). After being in the chair for 6 hours, and not knowing exactly what services were being done at the time, I had finished. I would like to say that the apprentice, Dianna, was the ONLY good thing about my experience. She was super sweet, and made me feel comfortable and welcomed in the salon. After my final blow dry, I paid and left. As soon as I got home, and inspected my hair more, I burst out into tears at how bad and unhealthy it looked. My hair has NEVER looked this bad. I called the salon that day and left a message for a manager. They then contacted me the next day, and I explained the situation, and sent over 2 sets of photos. I was told the owner would be contacting me. It took a WEEK of me calling daily for the owner to get back to me. It took me sending a detailed email and having family and friends that are also clients of the salon calling, to get a call. I thought that we were going to get everything sorted...I was wrong. The owner met me with a nasty attitude, and belittled me during our entire conversation to the point where I was shaking and on the verge of tears. I felt as if she was blaming my dissatisfaction on myself. She offered for me to come in and have her fix it, which I DENIED. I paid to have my service done, and have me walk out of the salon with what I wanted...That service was not provided, I will not take time out of my day to come by to a salon and be met with a nasty attitude and *maybe* get my hair fixed. I am absolutely disappointed in the service, and the lack of professionalism. It is so sad to see as this salon has been open since 1998. I do hope that things change, and no client ever has to deal with this frustration. This review may result in yet another response of how it is "not their fault". Just do your research. read more

3.5 stars Tiffany did a nice job with my hair; she evened out my almost undershave, trimmed my bangs, got rid of my split ends, and gave me layers that gave my hair that much needed oomph. She was kind and patient with me as I haven't been to a salon in ages as I cant remember the last time I left happy from one and my scalp is sensitive, which usually deters me from going to one. I freakin' love Alchemy Salon. It is the best salon I have ever had the pleasure of going to and I'm all about a good hair do. I'd stop right there because that is really all you need to know but I know you want the juicy details. From where I sit in my barber chair, it looks like you really can't go wrong with any of the stylists here. They all seem to take pride in what they do. They are serious about hair but also meeting the client's needs yet still keeping it chill. My go to guy is Michael. My Mr. gets his fresh cuts done by LT. Both have always provided us with consistent quality. Alchemy has an eclectic vibe but don't let that scare you away thinking they will force you to get some edgy style you're not ready for. Michael (and I am sure the others here) always listens to my ideas and then suggests how he might make it happen or how it could be taken a little further. We discuss shades, lengths, feel, and he may even break out the iPad if you didn't bring your own visual reference. After that, the assistants get to work washing your hair. They are a really great support system here that allow the stylists to fit more people in during the day while still giving due attention to clients. I never feel like I am being passed off like I have at other salons in the past. The assistants usually seem pretty happy to help and learn from the lead stylists. They typically wash, assist in color application, and dry or style your hair. But my stylist always does the cut, the more technical parts of my color application, and the final style and cut check of his work. I couldn't be happier with my choice of salon. I cannot remotely begin to describe my love for Alchemy. My sister introduced me to Alchemy back in 2010, and I have not let any other stylists touch my hair since. The passion these folks have for hair is unlike any other salon I've ever visited. Their technique is outstanding and their adventure with color is unlike anything I've ever seen in Orlando. The stylists take time to engage you in conversation and the assistants are eager to help out in any way possible. I have never had a bad experience or outcome while in the capable hands of the Alchemists! (Yes, I just gave them a proper title). Some folks may be intimidated by seeing the trendy fashions, funky hair colors, and tattoos, but fear not! These folks are artists with a devout passion for hair art. They are welcoming, friendly, and talented. I've gone from mousey brown, to red ombre, to bright orange red, back to dark brown with blonde highlights. They love a challenge, and I keep dishing it out. If I could become a permanent fixture there and let them play with my hair every day, I would. So, I've been coming here for over a year now and refuse to go anywhere else. One of the greatest ironies of my life is that ive had my hair permed twice(!) when my hair is naturally wavy. The problem is my hair is so fine that length weighs it down and brushes break the curls, so i never knew! Slowly learning to properly care for and bring out my natural wave. The great stylists @alchemyorlando have helped provide curl defining cuts and products I can use that wont weigh down my waves. Cannot recommend this place enough. Went in for a trim. You'd think that would be hard to mess up but Michael somehow completely botched it. Told him i wanted a trim barely any off. Kept insisting i cut around my face to make my hair look fuller. I had not said I had an issue with my hair being full. I told him I had just got my hair painted and paid a lot of money so i want to keep all the coloring. He cut the hair around my face and now all the beautiful blonde is gone. I will never go to any other salon in Orlando as long as there is Alchemy. I stumbled upon it about 3 years ago and have not gone anywhere since. I have recommended so many friends to get their hair done there. Every time I am in need of a drastic change ( that happens often) I book an appointment. They are all so talented, I have had many hands touch my hair : Tali, Sam, Trish, Lindsey, Jenn... the list goes on. Jenn is a genius with getting my cow lick to stay down with the way she cuts my bangs, and every hair color I had done at Alchemy has been beyond fantastic. Their service is amazing too! I lost my job 3 months ago and was unable to continue to spend money dyeing my hair every few weeks. I live in NYC and when I was visiting family in Orlando I decided to try Alchemy based on the great reviews and the affordable pricing. I explained my situation to Kimmie, I wanted to grow out my natural dirty blonde hair and add some ómbre hi lights to the ends. My color turned out beautiful EXCEPT it was not the color it was supposed to be. My top half was a very dark brown, not the dirty blonde of the swatch she used to match my roots. So, although it turned out very nice it completely defeated the purpose of me coloring my hair to match my natural, now I will need to spend even more money to maintain it. * Kimmie did offer for me to come back the following week to fix the color but since I don't live in the Orlando area, unfortunately that was not an option for me * read more

Having waist length hair makes me a VERY difficult client, but Donia always listed. After Donia left, I went to Bailey as advised from a friend. Two years later, I finally like my hair. She had NO idea what she was doing, and I came out looking like a cross between Patty Duke and Jenn Aniston circa 1994. I started to get upset in the chair, and all she did was sling more wine at me. I came in not knowing what I wanted to do with my hair but I just wanted something different than I've been doing the past few years. I told kimmy just that and she gave me great suggestions and totally took my hair on an amazing ride and it came out great! I love that she explained what she was doing and why all throughout the cut whilst also giving me tips on how I can maintain my hair. I went searching on Google and Yelp! for an Orlando salon because I needed to get my hair done for my father's wedding. I am SUPER picky about who touches my hair, and I was hoping to find a salon that had the same funky vibe as my home salon in Hoboken. Thankfully,I found Alchemy! I booked an appointment before I left New Jersey after seeing positive reviews here and browsing their (very interactive) website. Abby was my stylist, and she could not have been more awesome or sweeter. She took the time to ask me exactly what I wanted for my updo. I loved it, and spent all night fielding compliments about her handiwork! I should also mention that even though I have extremely slippery, straight Asian hair, the style did not come undone at all - in fact, I fell asleep with it still in place at 2 am, 12 hours later. I even ended up purchasing a sample size of Bumble & Bumble Styling Creme after Abby used it to prep my hair - I've been using that since I returned home and my friends have commented on how amazing my hair looks when I blow it out. The salon has a hip, funky vibe - like if you had a super hipster friend who opened a salon in their basement. I finally found my salon!!! The haircut took two hours for my sister and I, but it was worth it! I just felt a bit sorry for them since we got there at 7:30pm and finished at 930ish already. Even with the late hour, everybody was still courteous and attentive. Shoutout to Michael and his assistant LT. Michael listened to what hairstyle I was thinking about and improved on it. It's also the first time in years since I had bangs. But I wanted to try side swept bangs for a change. I'm lazy at styling my hair or even getting a haircut. I went into this with extremely high hopes. This place is so adorable and I love how interesting and alternative the staff is. Ashley was really nice and seemed to understand what I wanted and listened to me, but to my surprise her assistants/people learning from her did most of the work. I wish they would have at least called to warn me before of this situation because it was awkward the entire time and at the end I was forced to tip double what i was expecting and comfortable with to cover both of them, and this is already twice as much as I've EVER spent on a cut. During the experience there was so much strange awkward silence, with 2-3 girls staring at me. I felt watched and judged, and I have social anxiety and this made me want to straight up have a panic attack. I think this is probably the best haircut I've gotten in the past four years. Since moving from Sarasota, I've searched for a place that wasn't uber-cool, uber-expensive, or full of uber-attitude. Bailey really made me feel at ease and gave me the perfect cut. Alchemy has an intimate feel without being cramped. A great location right on Edgewater Drive. A really nice receptionist who doesn't make you feel like an idiot and who also talks you down when you call and threaten to cut your own hair. Such a chill environment. I loved every minute. I had an appointment a few days ago. I requested a hair cut that would hit just above my shoulders, and my hair was already pretty long, an inch or two past my shoulders. My stylist curled my hair afterwards, which I am convinced, with the intention to hide mistakes. I have very fine hair but I do have (or HAD I suppose) a lot of it. So my stylist took a razor to my hair. Now I am left with a haircut that is choppy, crooked, lopsided (in the back) and all around botched. The length is above my CHIN and I cannot even put it into a ponytail for work anymore, along with crooked short bangs. My whole life I have wanted thick full hair, and after this visit I am left with hair that is 10x more fine that looks like I am a tweaker. After crying most of that night and the next morning, i contacted the salon saying I was extremely unhappy and I did not want to see my stylist again because there is NOTHING LEFT TO CUT!! I simply wanted my money back. They said the would give me a call back?? Hours later I called again asking why I had not heard from them. They told me that they passed my contact information along to their boss and the person who "handles refunds" and they will contact me in a few days.. Still nothing. Obviously they do not prioritize the satisfaction of their customers. I just wanted to have my refund so I can use that money toward extensions at a different salon.. read more

Went to Alchemy for my first visit today and totally loved it! Best salon experience I've ever had! Michael and Whitney were awesome! Worth every penny, considering the amazing service and skill level that the staff provides (I was actually shocked that it wasn't more expensive!) Michael helped me figure out exactly what I wanted and threw out some of his ideas too and my haircut/color turned out perfect! He took his time and was so meticulous, I was never once worried about how my hair would turn out! Whitney was so great too! When it was time for my hair to be styled at the end, she explained every step to me and gave me so many good tips for things i can do With my hair type. After a year of living in Orlando and refusing to put my hair in the hands of a new stylist, I finally went to Alchemy after a recommendation from a friend who knows just how much trust it takes for me to cut my hair. I have to say, I couldn't have asked for anything better. L.T., YOU ARE A GODDESS. This woman is by far one of the most talented stylists I have met. I went in with growth from over the course of a year (practically ombre) and long layers-- came out with the edgiest little mod-bangs and gold hair. I have never done something so drastic to my hair only to come out equally as confident. I will have no trouble going back again to keep this look up-- It's totally worth it! I cannot say enough about how happy i am with my first experience at alchemy last night. Lauren is amazing! I poorly articulated what I was hoping to do with my hair and she was able to NAIL it. I can honestly say it has been many many years since i've been happy with a cut. Usually i race home and figure out how i can style it to make it look better. Perfect cut and color! Lauren cut and highlighted my hair this time and it was honestly one of the best cuts I've ever had. I walked in with long blonde hair that I've had outside hair salons mess up and dyed the back color which has faded to a weird reddish color over time. She was very patient with me and got my hair back to an amazing ombre blonde and put in layers. Highly recommend Lauren especially for blonde ombre and shortish cuts! read more

It has now been my go to salon for the last 4 years. I have gone to a few of the stylists over the years and they have always done a great job. The atmosphere is laid back and I never feel rushed.
