This is reasonable as I understand the tools, effort and increasing retail footage prices the charge covers. An intermittent problem is challenging. In the end, MSJ suggested a lower cost work around. I was very pleased as the TV performance has increased at a lower cost, all things considering. HURRAH! I am happy to say my chat with Henry at MSJ was a very good one and I went from thinking I would have to buy a new television to happily being told that the repair we got should last the run of the television (at least another 10 years at the rate it is used). When I called, Henry asked about the problem as well as the model number of the television. He was able to schedule someone to come out (he told me up front that the service call would be 65$ and then he also said the tech would do the diagnostic on site and let us know our options). Sure enough, Kevin came within two days of me calling and right on time. He brought with him what the problem would have been (and it was--the bulb), fixed it and off he went. The total charge, including the labour and the bulb (and service call) was 300$....a MUCH better price than contemplating going out and buying a new television. In fact, Kevin said that the new televisions out there now (plasma/SMART/ect) are actually worse than the older ones (bought 10 years ago) because if something goes wrong, parts are harder to get (and take longer to repair) or in some cases, there are no parts available. In this case, happily, what was "State of the Art" 13 years ago is still as good as it was when we bought it thanks to the replacement of the bulb. And this includes, a 60 day warranty on parts and labour along with a "please call me if you have any problem" :-) He assuredly said we shouldn't since we have a solid television and this is the most we would ever have with it in terms of repair. We can happily watch Sunday Italian Seria A soccer with no worries :-)
