Best vets and staff are very caring. I can't say enough good things about the team. They're open all day and later in the evening for after work. They do everything they can for their patients read more

Being a first-time owner, I naturally freaked out beyond belief but the extremely calm and professional staff put me at ease. Their level of care is superb - they really look after the pets AND the owners, which is very important. A great vet to take your beloved furry friends to, whether it's for emergencies or routine vaccinations.

Their prices are competitive with others however the warm smiles you get in entering their nice clean shop, you know that this is more than a vet surgery, its a community of pet lovers and professionals. The friendly staff went out of their way to explain to me all the health requirements needed for my new puppy without any expectation of joining. This was also reinforced a week later when I dropped past and the friendly staff provided me with some well needed answers and relief prior to picking up my puppy. I have since selected Wilston Vet as my vet for my puppy, Napoleon and have loved coming in for our check-ups and vaccinations.

They don't…read moresell puppies or kittens which I think is the most important way of judging a pet store because pet stores that sell puppies and kittens not only support puppy farms and dodgy breeders, but also encourage the impulse purchase of an animal that requires a great deal of commitment. The staff at Petbarn are knowledgeable and helpful, and are all animal lovers with lots of experience in pet care. The range of fish and aquarium products here is excellent and they have staff dedicated specifically to helping you establish and maintain your own aquarium. Another thing I like about Petbarn is that pets on leads are welcome, so if you need to get your dog a new collar for example, you can actually bring them in to see what fits (and you can count on them getting cuddles and treats from the staff as well!). Petbarn has a wide variety of pet products including foods, grooming products, accessories, toys, and treats. They also sell some medications such as worming and flea treatments. The staff here are happy to consult with you about whatever pet advice you need. Many times I've come into Petbarn to seek advice about my fish tank and have had a long, helpful conversation with a staff member and then gone home without needing to buy anything because the staff don't push you to buy things in return for their help. For this reason, whenever I need to buy anything for my dogs or aquarium, I head to Petbarn. They also have a customer loyalty card and lots of information about obedience, puppy pre-school, and other pet activities.

Dreadful experience that almost cost my dog his life and if the emergency animal ambulance personal had not of intervened that's exactly how it would have ended! I returned with my dog every day for 3 days post surgery and my concerns were completely ignored by this clinic! On day 3 I learned that they had overbooked surgeries with one of their staff on a day off. Because I had been so very concerned about his recovery and he wasn't going well I left him in their hands believing they specialised in his breed. Well, he had an emergency and had to be intubated. Then at our direction was to be transferred to the specialist vets but the vet hadn't even sedated the dog suitably for the trip. The ambulance staff had to argue with her on our dogs behalf! I've heard horror story after horror story since sharing our experience and even been bullied online by the clinic staff! Pretending not to be clinic staff but sharing my personal details with others !!!! Oh and they will say they don't have a record of me as a client well I'm happy to share the bills that say otherwise!!!! Never ever would I recommend this place.

The prices aren't drastically cheaper than anywhere else around but they're pretty good. I couldn't afford to take my pregnant dog to the vet for delivery of thr pups, nor did I want to, but the vet I saw at the check-up was excellent and gave me reams of printed material about what to expect and how it all should go. It is a fenced area near the Powerhouse car park and faces the river next to the rest of New Farm Park. The facilities in this park are great. There's plenty of shade and seating, as well as water for the dogs and bins to dispose of any nasty surprises. There are a few written and unwritten rules though. For example it is very frowned upon if you can't control your dog. Given that New Farm is largely apartment living there are a lot of small dogs, so when a big dog comes along and starts terrorising the smaller ones, parents get defensive. Also it is completely the owners responsibility to dispose of any doggy doo-doo. Every time I have hung out at New Farm Dog Park (I don't have a dog so I have to live vicariously through my puppy owning friends) it has been so much fun! So long as the dogs all get along, are obedient and well trained, it makes for a manageable outing for all involved. The other plus is that the dogs get so knackered from playing with each other that they usually sleep amazingly following their big adventure. Win!

It is currently a big dust bowl and a health hazard to dogs, dog owners and local residents. Also, the overcrowding means an increasing incidence of nasty interactions between dogs. It is an unfortunate result of a sharp increase in housing in the local area without an increase in the number of dog parks. Many of the locals now take their dogs to the Spring Hill dog park which is cleaner, greener and offers more interest to the dogs.

Petbarn is one of the cheapest pet supply stores we've found and there's always a great range available in store, plus the staff are readily available to give genuinely helpful advice about the best food for your pooch, and more. I'd also recommend signing up in store for their store rewards. You get a 20% off voucher when joining and they email you regular deals which can come in handy when, for example, you need to purchase Rovers regular food.

Only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday. It's a little less cramped, and they have refurbished. FishChick focused on bettas and guppies, and while you can still get them here, the bettas at least aren't at the same standard. These guys are more into the Australian natives. Have you ever been into a pet shop that didn't have puppies? Or at least kittens? It's like an ice cream shop with no chocolate, or a sushi place with no salmon. Luckily I soon located them and realised they had simply been hidden behind the Christmassy white spray all over the front windows. This isn't a very big pet shop, but it's adequate. They have a limited range of animals including guinea pigs and fish along with the requisite puppies, pet food and of course accessories. It's not the most exciting of its genre, but it gets the job done.

The times I have been here I've seen puppies, little kittens, guinea pigs and an array of beautiful fish. The puppies, kittens and guinea pigs are located towards the front of the shop and the fishies are towards the back wall. The little pups are the front window cannot be seen by passer by's unless you walk into the store. I think this is a good idea as it might be stressful for the little guys to see lots of people coming up to them. However, having a front view of a paper plastered window does not make this store look appealing. They should consider replacing that. All in all though, the pups don't seem to be bothered and look happy and healthy. One thing I noticed here that I didn't approve of, was all the little children poking the pets and the shop minder didn't seem phased by it at all. I know parents have a responsibility over their children, but I should hope the pet shop staff would protect the pets from children who are stressing them out. Still, despite this, it is a nice little pet store with quite a lot on offer. Good range in toys and pet accessories.
