From outside, it looks small but is actually quite spacious inside. IDR for certain, but I believe some of the other assortments are homemade or homecrafted by folks in their community. They are located outside of Twin Falls at the Snake River. The scenery here is more than enough for you to stop. Then there is the is Perrine Bridge, which is one of the highest bridges in the US. You don't have to go inside the visitor's center to enjoy it. But, the inside is nice as well. They have exhibits, a shop and clean bathroom. They had a nice exhibit of the Minidoka National Historical Site. They had a wagon/stage coach belonging to Mr. I. B. Perrine. The shop had lots of souvenirs for the state of Idaho. The bathroom was so clean that my wife didn't complain. When traveling through Twin Falls, this is a good stop. Lots of good stuff to see here.

He could've just said sir no photos please or something to that effect. There were about eight signs on the door. I mentioned to him that I didn't have time to read a novel and he could just ask politely. He spent the remainder of our time in the store scowling and never offered a word of greeting or asked if he could be of help. I have a pretty thorough knowledge of Native American art as well as tribal, Eastern and Western art in general. The shop was filled with low-quality items from Indonesia, (masks, etc.)Chinese fake Native American beadwork. Suspiciously Fake looking jewelry that said Navajo made but if it was it wasn't made by craftspeople or artisans (necklaces). The rings didn't carry the telltale design elements that one familiar with SW art recognizes but looked like Silver and turquoise rings from India. There were drums that looked nice but upon close inspection had holes and major flaws. There were the cheap pottery wheel pots that are technically " Native made" but are just crappy pots made on machine wheels and repeatedly painted with crappy designs by unskilled workers. It looked like he did have some decent pots mixed in. They are supposed to be a "trading post" so when you see that coupled with the fact that they are near a major Reservation one would expect to find Shoshone and Bannock beadwork and other handiwork but instead 2 dollar rosettes from China were sold. There were Kachinas but none were Hopi Kachinas. Crystals were on offer though far more expensive than those across the street. All in all a complete waste for anyone wanting to visit a trading post (usually means high quality Native art on offer) crappy products (if not fake) and horrible employees (or was he the owner). Don't bother.

We made a trip from Hawaii to Salt Lake City specifically to visit the Idaho Potato Museum (long…read morestory). Drove almost 4 hours to get there and then another 3+ hours to Boise to visit friends and flew home from there. Was it worth it? Well, we actually had a really great time! There was enough to keep us interested for a couple hours. Typical museum displays were supported by videos, some talking potatoes, even a cute Virtual Reality Tractor and some video games. After we went through the exhibits, we ended at the cafe and got a baked potato and some fries. You can have anything you want on them, so we got chili and cheese, sour cream, and bacon. The only sad part was that they were out of gnocchi. Lots of parking and there are some shops in the area. So, yes, we're really glad we went and recommend it if you're in the area.

Well, not this time! All jokes aside, this was a fun little wayside distraction, tucked away "in the back" of Blackfoot, but worth it for the kitsch and novelty of the whole thing. Our kids certainly loved it, particularly the potato family projection in the "basement" that narrates the harvesting and storing of potatoes; our three year old couldn't stop staring and laughing! In additions to displays, videos and dioramas detailing every potato fact you might ever want to know (and more), there's also a quaint little café at the back purveying all manner of potato products, from fries and other fried things, to the good ol' Irish Sundae (a baked 'tater dressed just how you like it), so you can get your carb load for the day in whatever form you desire! Admission is cheap (a few bucks per person), and a great way to kill some time, or break up the monotony of a road trip.

He was terrified but the staff was super cool about it and we managed to get it done. Thanks to the black haired dude who completely kept his cool, even though my kid was not being cool at all, and calmed and distracted him in the perfect way to get his shot in quick. Not sure if this place had the soda fountain going for it or the Jerk running it but I do know it had a plethora of gifts and Hallmark keepsakes. Sadly this is the last standing Hallmark store in town and we had to track them down for a specific figurine my grandma was tirelessly searching for. Luckily for us we were already going to be in Twin Falls for a much needed visit with family so the 2 hour drive was well justified. The clerks in this place were top notch, they saved the two figurines she needed in the back and gladly brought them out when grams came a-callin'. Very impressed with how nice they are and they treated my grams how I usually treat her, always a plus with me! They didn't have any fridge magnets but I later found what I was looking for when we finally got to Shoshone Falls. I highly recommend this place for the odds and ends you're looking for in gift form.
