Let me say, the service was absolutely nonexistent, you need to know what you want because they don't even have a menu! I asked if they had lunch specials, like most places in the area, and the gentleman said fried chicken, griot, and another option. I decided on the fried chicken, which came with a choice of rice, salad, plantain, and pikliz. It was my first time trying pikliz, and I found it quite delicious. If you're looking for a menu, check Google, Yelp, or DoorDash -menu items with prices should be listed there. The lunch special at $15 is a really good deal! This used to be my family's go to place when we had a taste for Haitian Food. We used to love the Djon Djon Rice and Griot. They are very popular and have grown over the years. Unfortunately I think their quality has gone down. Last few times we went griot was dry, service was really slow and they didn't have the rice we wanted. I bought a dozen pattys a few months ago, and they were dry and hard. A few nights ago I wanted to get some Lalo and Legume, but not the complete meal, so without the rice. I asked for small, the cashier said it's only one size available. Price was approx $12 each. After waiting prob 20 mins, watching numerous other customers complain as they pick up their orders, (btw calling in is a nightmare), I finally got my food. 2 small 16oz containers for $24. Definitely overpriced for some vegetables. I get home to try it, the first thing I notice is how greasy it is. I could get a spoon and dip a layer of oil off the top. I tried it anyway but it just wasn't good. Had to throw it away. I got the same thing at a different Haitian restaurant a few days before that tasted much better, wasn't filled with oil and grease, and most of all, was half the price for the same size container of food. I made 2 orders to this restaurant on uber eats totaling around $45. they never delivered the food and upon trying to contact the restaurant they refused to pickup after several attempts they picked up refused to issue a refund, mocked and laughed at me, and made sexual harassment remarks to me over the phone. Manager also admitted they don't have access to their ubereats business software....says it broke....so he was not able to issue a refund......Very unprofessional and should not be operating on ubereats to begin with. When I first walked up the owner Jordan was pleasant and will to answer all my questions. I downloaded the menu on my phone l, place an order and it was ready within 15 minutes. I took the food to go, but I'd also had the option to eating inside their store front. I wanted to try the food truck that has a different menu than there mother store. I got the plantain sandwich with rice and Mac and cheese and it was so good. The owner is professional and they let you see you food prior to sealing up the bag which I like. This place is a staple regardless of the low ratings, and guess what, it's packed every time I go in. Sure they're not known for great customer service but that's not what you're going for. The food is consistent, consistently good, so good that I come here on a weekly basis. The other con is I just wish they hadn't raised the price on some of their dishes or I'd be eating there more frequently. I've tried many of their dishes, all great but the one I always return for is their Griot with Brown Rice and Peas, and of course with extra Pikliz. I've always only ordered to-go so I have no experience with dining there but I also never really see anyone actually eat there during the lunch rush. Are you ready for the 411? Here we go...my second home is in Lake Worth, Florida so Alberte's is my go-to Haitian spot. I used to really love this place and it's past set-up where the food was displayed and set in the counter and you selected that way. However I had not been here in awhile and my husband warned me it changed. The food is in the back which is not an issue but there display menu is not clear. We went there and I had to ask if they had this and if they had that while there was a major line behind me of people waiting to order. Then there is the chaos of waiting for your food order. The level of confusion in when you get your order is ridiculous. The interesting part it used to be much better and I don't know why they changed. The ambiance was even better. The food is definitely amazing if you have never tried Haitian food you are missing out. The flavors are mouth watering for my family of 4 we can usually buy 3 meals it's quite enough. It's definitely a 5 star food choice but like the other reviewer mentions the mask. I do have to agree it irks me to see food handlers with the nose out while wearing gloves also touching money at the register then packing the food to go. Well opening the boxes with the nose out. Definitely one of the best Haitian restaurants in WPB! Every time I visit FL from SC, Alberte's is always on my mind for a stop. Their Haitian food meets and exceeds my expectations for classic Haitian dishes such as griot, bunun peze, diri a djon djon, etc. There is ALWAYS a line because real recognizes real. From the glorious moment I take my first bite to the tragic moment when I take my last, it is like heaven in my mouth. Was completed surprised to find this place. And impressed on first sight. The restaurant is neat and clean - takes in lots of natural night - so a cold morning automatically seems sunny and warm. Very vast menu of Haitian cuisine for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. In addition there is an everyday special of fritay (which is pretty much fried snack/appetizer food). It's cooked to order so it's extremely fresh and probably should be called ahead. But the quality of food is worth the wait. I was disappointed that I couldn't get a tropical smoothie in the morning. There were right up there on the menu with lovely enticing pictures but the lady behind the main counter said they were only available during the weekend. Last time I was here was for Mother's Day. It was a Sunday and a couple hours before closing but surprising to me it was not packed or busy. The cashier was nice this time. They are very rude and unprofessional, I called to ask if they were serving Griot and was told to hold, after about 7 minutes of me waiting the call "dropped", I assumed we were disconnected. I called again and was met with the same issue. I was very polite and trying to just figure out what exactly was going on. the last woman I spoke to was helpful and assured me they will be serving griot today but i've never experienced a problem like this before. Today was my last visit to Alberte's. I'm officially in search of a new Caribbean restaurant in the area. Called in an order of griot complet and some accra for pick-up. Was told it would be 20 mins. and would cost $9.50. I called back a few minutes inquiring about some jerk chicken. They told me "we sell it but we can't price food over the phone". Be weary of any restaurant which does not openly give you the price when you ask or does not have it posted. Against my better judgement, I ordered the jerk chicken when I got there. 3 pieces for $5.75 (this was after the lady behind the counter thought about what it should cost for awhile). Although the food was ready and sitting in front of them waiting for me, they finished a whole conversation before bagging and handing the food over to me as I waited. Service is ridiculously poor and thus the cause for my last visit. read more

I've been here many times & every single time the food has been exceptional. I could give it a five star for the food but the whole experience of getting that food is often frustrating. I've tried many ways. ALL FAIL. Whether I order at store or call first (once I called 20 minutes before going) there is always a LONG wait to get the food. I cannot see how someone who would be interested to eat there during their lunch hour can plan accordingly. The staff is often involved in a long conversation not related to getting the food ready. When you finally get your food, try asking for extra pikliz, they want to charge an extra $.50. It's just cabbage, vinegar & peppers (i think) Just like other Caribbean restaurants including the big boys (pollo & la granja) include these in their $4.99 meal. I came for my first experience with a Haitian friend, and thankfully so! The employees here are Haitian, speak creole, and don't seem as friendly to those who aren't (or so I observed). They do speak English, but some don't speak it willingly, or will act as if they don't understand you, so I can agree with other reviewers who complained about terrible service. Though, I didn't personally experience it. We ordered the griot complete meal for $11. It came with your choice of rice, I chose the option with pinto beans, it comes with fried pork, two plantains, and a small basic salad. The portions of food are huge, which match the price, and everything was delicious! I also tried the beef pastry (cheap; no more than $1.50), which had a fresh, flaky crust, and stuffed with very tender, flavorful beef. I ordered the mango juice to drink, and it was so sugary but very delicious if you love mango like I do. It seems to me, from previous reviews, that people take the Haitian attitude a little too personally. In America we are used to having people in the service industry cater to our every need, while being polite.. This is not the Haitian way. If you can deal with the impersonal attitude, the food is totally worth it. I will definitely be back now that I know what to order! read more
