I called Albert chimney sweep to get an inspection and cleaning scheduled since I recently bought my house - and they told me they had been to my residence in the past. They came out and let me know that because a wood stove was installed to a manufactured fireplace that they couldn't touch it for liability reasons, which I completely understood. He was here for 2-3 minutes and then told me I still needed to pay $120 for a service call (even though no services were completed.) I said I understand that we need to pay something since they made the trip here, but asked if the full priced service fee could be discounted considering we live nearby and no services were completed - and he very rudely declined/said no. We ended up paying the fee - and I do not recommend working with this business as you could very well get ripped off. read more

Very nice, professional and stayed true to their estimate. Installation also finished as expected. Love the stove and so far is working beautifully. The stove we wanted took a little longer than expected to get in (no fault of theirs) and they were super busy so I did have to be the one to initiate calling to get updates and receipts but outside of that I have no complaints and would certainly recommend them! read more

This guy is a rip off. Do not let him in your home. He cleaned our chimney and told us our chimney was unsafe and wanted us to pay him $14,000.00 to fix it. Then we told us if we used the fire place insurance would not cover us. We had a reputable come out and they said the fire place was fine to use and Albert was trying to rip us off. We just had some major work done by Albert and I'm very impressed by the quality of work and courteous workers. We had two fireplaces rebuilt one with a wood stove and one wood burning. Despite some unexpected issues with the liners they stayed true to their quote with no add on charges. The masonry work they did on the firebox was perfect and beautiful. Very happy that they were able to accommodate us so late in the fall and love our new fireplaces. Highly recommend them for any scale of fireplace work. read more

Called this place on Monday May 6th 2019. My chimney crown and cap is leaking so I set up an appointment for Thursday May 9th between 12-4. A guy named Joe calls me at 1pm Thursday and says he's running behind and he might not make out to give me a quote. Joe said if I don't make it (which he definitely didn't make it) he will come by first thing in the morning Friday after he leaves his shop or between 12-4. 4:10 pm Friday I haven't heard a word from this fly by night company. I called the office and got their voicemail. 10 minutes later the office calls me and says there was a misunderstanding and they can come out in 15 minutes.....I said absolutely not you guys certainly don't care that my chimney is leaking or the fact that I called off work 2 days in a row for this place. By far one of the worst business dealings I've ever been involved with. Buyer beware this place is extremely unprofessional!!!! read more

Called and scheduled for someone to come out and fix the cap on our chimney. I called on a Thursday and they were able to get us an appointment on the following Monday. They called me on Friday to confirm which I did. Come Monday and no one showed up and no one called to cancel. Sat around for an hour waiting. Albert the Chimney Sweep used the BBB accreditation on his paperwork and is not accredited by the BBB for one thing. For another, his prices are insane. When asked for an inspection on a chimney he indicated a complete tear-out to the tune of $20,000 then told someone else he could install a complete new chimney for $5000. Doesn't sound like BBB worthy even if he tried. Maybe he is reasonable at cleaning but I would hesitate to engage his business in doing anything beyond that. read more

Looks like they swept my fireplace chimney OK, however, I requested estimates for replacing the fireplace chimney pipe and also to add stone to my fireplace. Both of these jobs would have netted them considerable money, however, they never called with the estimates. I called the company twice and left voice mails and no one returned my phone call. Albert Bailitz was hired to repair or replace 2 chimneys if necessary. He took my $6,000.00 deposit in mid-October and did not complete the job as of 12/30/14. I lost all contact with Albert both via e-mail or phone. He does not respond to voice mail either. I am forced to retain an attorney. I asked Albert Bailitz to look at my 2 chimneys and provide an estimate for repairs. He quoted me a price for replacement of both chimneys and drew up a contract. There was a $6000.00 down payment which I paid. Before he commenced work the insurance required that I get another opinion. Another chimney sweep contractor came and said the chimneys did not need to be replaced. I asked Albert about my findings and he said he didn't even inspect the chimneys and thought I just wanted to replace them for the heck of it. I corrected his misapprehension and asked him to draw up a new contract based on the actual damage based on an inspection. He agreed and actually broke one of the flues while inspecting thus requiring it to be replaced. The inspection proved that the chimneys did not need to be replaced at all (aside from the fact that he damaged one). He said he would give me the new contract to reflect the modified scope of work and I never heard from him again. He has my $6000.00, he did not repair anything (and actually broke a perfectly good flue), and has dropped all contact with me. I am forced to retain an attorney to recover my money. For the second flue, Albert said that a wall pass-through must be reinstalled correctly which required a new T which !surprise! the manufacturer no longer makes which means that I have to replace the whole second flue too taking me back to square one of replacing all flues as he originally wanted. But when I called the manufacturer [Hart and Cooley Co] it turned out that an inexpensive old-to-new pipe transition kit exists. When I presented my findings to Albert, he admitted that this was true and that he didn't know about the new transition kit. For someone with decades of experience to forget or not know details like that is very suspicious.
