Very disappointing experience. I brought my boots in to have rubber soles added. A lady in the shop told me the job would take three days and cost $60. When I returned after three days, the owner told me the boots were not ready and asked me to come back in an hour, which made me think he hadn't even started the work yet. I went back the next day, and he charged me $94 for two simple rubber soles. The boots were not even cleaned. When I mentioned that I had been quoted 60, he refused to acknowledge it or discuss it. Unprofessional, unreliable, and overpriced. Strongly not recommended. read more

I had a pair of Louboutin boots that I loved, but stopped wearing a year ago because something was loose in the heels. It sounded like pebbles or stones. Totally bizarre. Anyways, they ended up sitting in my closet for over a year. Alberto is the real deal. Instead of trying to tell me to get another pair of boots (like some competitors in town), he looked at my old ones as something that could be fixed. He told me to come back 3 days later to pick them up. I was hesitant it could be resolved without tearing the boot apart but I put my trust in all the reviews from our awesome Yelpers! Fast forward Saturday...my boots were in perfect condition! And no more loose stones in my heels! Was so happy! It's awesome to have a local shoe repair person like Alberto in the Memorial area. Yelp, does it again! Anytime I find myself in a quandary such as: do I buy a new pair of heels or try to find someone to repair a tried and trusty high-quality shoe. OK so the story is I have a pair of Bally of Switzerland that is the lightest shade of pastel pink that has been neglected just like Woody in Toy Story in my hot ass Houston garage and I stumbled upon them the other day and I thought damn these are some nice ass shoes, shame on me for not taking better care of them. I estimate them to be about 20 years old purchased in Virginia when I had less gray hair. And possibly more gumption to wear heels on a regular basis. But I digress. I thought, "who could repair shoes that my fellow Yelpers would trust and I stumbled across Alberto's Shoe Repair. A native of Peru, this gentleman certainly knows his craft. I read the reviews and I would concur that he is upfront about what he can, and cannot do. The first thing he said was, this color is unique, and he could not do any polish color recovery but he could definitely repair the heels that had become unglued in the ungodly conditions that it's neglectful master had subject them to (jk, Albert didn't say that last part). He told me it would take a day, but due to my travel schedule, I called him and reminded him who I was and my Shoes to tell him that I would be a few days later for pick up. He appreciated my call and was very friendly. Today, I went to pick them up and he was just as delightful. The cost to repair the heel tips came to $15, I gave him a $20 bill and told him to keep the change he was appreciative. I asked him what other services he provides and he said pretty much anything leather I paused and looked at my belt that could use an extra belt hole or two, and he was happy to oblige and seconds later 2 perfectly punched holes were added to my brand new belt. I took my husband's leather loafers to repair a repair that was already falling apart. Not only was Albert skilled at matching the leather better than the previous repair, he used thicker leather so it would last longer. I found this place on the internet. I had a pair of men's business shoes that needed new brown leather soles and heels. That is exactly what I got, and the shoes had been polished as well. (In fact, he repaired a scuff I thought could not be repaired.) High quality materials, fairly priced, and ready on the date promised. The owner is pleasant and obviously has been in the shoe business a long time. He is in a little shop in a strip center, and the place "feels" exactly like it should. Shoes are essential in daily life. And as most of us know when we have a great broken in pair it is annoying to have to go buy a new pair and break those in to. So, when I found my great pair I wanted to keep it for as long as possible. Most people don't know you can change out the heel and sole/outsole of a shoe a couple of times as long as the rest of the shoe is OK? I only have a couple pairs (I'm a guy so clearly I'm not about shoe shopping and closets of the stuff). I would rather spend a couple bucks extending the life of a great pair then go and spend a couple hundred on a new pair. Alberto does a great job and the turn around is quick. I have used Alberto in the past and had great service and quality of work. Unfortunately that was not the case with my last visit. Took a boot in to have a heavy duty YKK zipper replaced. It was replaced with a lighter duty zipper that failed the first time I tried to zip it up. He showed no interest in trying to resolve my problem. Just told me he had replaced the zipper and hung up. I will have to send the boots off to be repaired with a heavier duty YKK zipper by someone else. I will not be bringing any more of my work to this shop. read more

Awesome service! it is my 3rd time I took my shoes to be repaired. Like usual - great service with great price. It took only 2 days to get new heals! I used another place close to work place on Westheimer and it took 3 weeks... Alberto is very nice and polite. I don't know what other person didn't like about the business. I think if you are nice to people, people are nice to you. If you mean and treat people lower than you, then you get treated bad to. it is a good place, great price! Recommend it! read more
