Albert Heijn is a must if you need to get your grocery shopping done while in the Netherlands.
While there are other local and large chains, they do not seem to be as readily available compared to Albert Heijn. The stores themselves are laid out like most other grocery chains, easy to understand, clear English, pricing very fair, lots of room, and helpful employees. Every time I visited a Albert Heijn, I never had a hard time locating what I needed, albeit a tad different in a foreign country, but just as good or sometimes even better. They do carry organic, but it seems to be not as readily labeled, so I think its more of a US ordeal to boast about it where in the Netherlands, its more of a regular option, which is great!
