The figs were small and green, just emerging during mid September, we missed their peak stage by about a month. *small but clean quaint property *comfortable beds-no frills but adequate and minimalist with modern flare *rooftop lounge with ocean views? (I missed it!) *dining on site, breakfast included with stay-more than adequate! *minutes from airport shuttle available *great shampoo, wish they sold it! *a few blocks walk to the ocean/beach DH chose this hotel as a resting place after our flight into Fiumicino, Italy. After a long flight, and a Garmin inability to find this place, we finally put in the name of the street and came right upon the hotel (print out directions prior to arriving or use google maps). The hotel also has a shuttle if needed which many guests were taking advantage of, its only minutes away from the airport. We just needed a place to rest for a night before heading north, this is located about 30 minutes from Rome City Center. We arrived on property about 8:30 in the evening and were so glad to be greeted by Stefano and offered dinner at the hotel if we were so inclined, to allow us not have to go out after a long day of travel. We dined al fresco while Stefano warmed my husbands favorite lasagna of the trip (the hotel has a chef who comes in and preps the food). Stefano also made us a mushroom pizza and garnished with fresh basil from the herb garden in the patio. We dined with a sweet Italian couple from NY who also loved the quaint feel of the property, they ordered the pizza and some meatballs and said the meatballs were good. They too, were staying for one night on the tail end of their trip, they had dropped their rental car off and would be shuttled to the airport by hotel staff for their early AM flight, The outside of the street area (street parking) is within a neighborhood which looks slightly sketch but was safe for us. There were many local teens walking around, looked to be the typical Italian city back road neighborhood. The property itself is gated. We would return to this property.

It's about 40 minutes (without traffic) but can easily be 1-2 hours away from downtown Rome and the Vatican. Still, a more affordable and quieter option. The outside of the hotel is charming, with a garden courtyard and fountain. On our first night here, we watched the sun set from the roof. Very beautiful! The lobby is not small, but not incredibly large. It's decorated with a few antique pieces which was kind of neat. The front desk attendant was nice and patient with our large group. He gave each person the room keys and after hopping on the elevator, I realized that my room was on the first floor. If you can, ask for a room on an upper floor as the first floor is located close to the lobby. My room wasn't outdated and was large for one person. I'm not going to lie, I felt a little creeped out by myself, but nothing terrible happened. There is A/C, a TV, a nice, clean bathroom with bidet, shower, and toilet. The bed wasn't the most comfortable, but I made do. I would leave the room key with the front desk so you don't have to carry it around. There is a large dining room where breakfast and dinner were served. The dinner was so much food! But everything was delicious, from the pasta, to salad, to entree. I didn't care too much for the dessert though. All in all, a good stay. It's nothing fancy, but it's quiet away from all the craziness of downtown Rome and I loved all of the quirky bits found throughout the hotel. Oh and there's wifi and it's high speed!

Staff was friendly but not very helpful in recommending restaurants ( except their own) and there were many restaurants just down the street. The on-site restaurant was slightly overpriced and had limited options but food was good. They have a small rooftop pool with a nice sitting area and a bar for drinks and they serve a limited menu for lunch. They charged for a pool towel and swim cap, which I have never had to do at any other hotel.

When I asked politely for her to repeat herself she told me 'as I said before in a short and condescending tone. When I arrived at the hotel she refused to tell me her name. I checked in at 6:15 on Sunday June 14th and she was at reception. Not a warm friendly greeting at all. The first time I stayed there another person at reception was again difficult and treated me with indifference. I'm not sure what priority management places in its guest but I don't think they project a positive attitude or welcoming face to their guests. I don't recommend this hotel

Despite war and neglect, this villa has retained it's beauty with stunning frescoes and breathtaking views of Rome. Daily breakfast was included with our package and offered an array of fruits, nuts, pastries, eggs, bacon, and more. We had a couple of hiccups which included a non-functional power outlet as well as a burnt out light bulb. Although we reported the problems to the front desk and requested them to be fixed, they were not done during our 3 night stay. Be sure to make time to walk around the property, enjoy their pool, and visit the 2nd floor to see the beautiful frescoes. You won't be disappointed.

The only downfall was wifi was spotty throughout the hotel despite us asking for repair. This location is 40 minute drive to rome center, 30 minute train ride to metro termini in rome. They offer free shuttle to the frascati train station as well. We found it easier to drive to san giovani metro station and park off the road. Service was wonderful, except cleaning lady ignored our do not disturb sign.

While traveling to Rome with a friend, we decided that we should spend a few days of our trip outside of the city. Websites online boast that Frascati is a sleepy country side with a ton of hidden gems including the typical piazzas as well as the Castelli Romani and vineyards. Frascati is more like the Staten Island of Rome - a pain in the ass suburb to get to. Anyway, I didn't know this so we settled on staying at Villa Mercede for 3 nights. The website shows a glorious pool and a pristine dining area that turns into a lounge at night. Two single ladies couldn't really go wrong here, right? Think again. This hotel is DUMB far from the Frascati train station. They say it's a 10 minute walk but fail to tell you that the ENTIRE walk is uphill and impossible with luggage. Uber also doesn't work there so if you ever need to get back to the hotel past 9pm, good luck and God bless. It was miserable and the hotel shuttle service stops way too early to make this a tourist spot. We checked in at around 1pm and the man at the front desk, last name was Di Giulio or something, was rude as could possibly be. He must not have realized I spoke Italian so when he asked me for my passport and I bent down into my luggage to get it, he mumbled some choice curse words in Italian to his colleague. As if me bending to get the document was somehow offensive to him. We were off to a great start. The Castelli Romani are close but they do 0 advertising of this except for a few pamphlets at the front desk. Basically, once you get here, you're stranded unless you have a car. Wish someone would have warned me. Wish the hotel also told us more about stuff to do. We tried to walk up to our room on the other side of the hotel but get this... we had to walk UP stairs, down a hallway, then take an elevator downstairs to our floor. Combine that with jet lag and a long ass day of traveling and I PROMISE you that you will get lost. The food at the dining area was good but it never did turn into a lounge at night so I was pretty bored while stranded here. Restaurants were also dumb far and closed super early. Thankfully there is a gelateria and café attached so we subsisted on gelato alone for quite a few meals. Please don't get me started on the pool which could have been the only saving grace here in terms of fun. It was taken over by gnats so even though the weather was sunny, we couldn't go in. During our 3 night stay, they cleaned the pool 0 times. The pool area was deserted in terms of other people at the hotel. I'll admit the rooms were gorgeous... comfortable, roomy, trendy, and spotless. But for the price and the fact that you are basically stuck there, they better be! The area is not as advertised on their website. We never made it to Castelli Romani since my friend ended up with a cold, but if we had chosen to go there, I can't imagine the shuttle service being efficient. We only took the shuttle once at 5:30am to catch a train to Rome, to catch a bus to Pompeii, and arranging the shuttle was annoying b/c there is only 1 person driving the shuttle and they had to call his personal cell to see if that time was okay with him. How accommodating, right? Gonna be a no from me. Won't be giving them my business again.
