In the part of Sterzing's old town aptly named "Neustadt" (new town), Restaurant Lamm is in a heritage building advertising itself with an elaborate old sign featuring a lamb. You might thus expect the typical tyrolean-to-kitschy interior, but would be off in this case. Sober scandinavian-sytyle tables and chairs, arranged in rows, warmed up with a touch of hygge by some tasteful decorations above table-level.
But Lamm unfortunately doesn't make for a cosy dinner outing. The neon light coming from the cooling counter makes this feel more like a quick breakfast place; some crates for drinks by the door just seemed careless.
The food was hearty, decently executed, with ample portion sizes and fair prices.
