Had my first cut here yesterday. The vibe is really friendly, open, and cool, with the staff…read morelaughing and having fun with each other and the customers. I didn't realize how unhappy I was with the vibe at my old barber until I stepped through the door here and felt right at home. Everybody actually enjoys being here, and that's contagious. Ethan did my cut, and he was super nice about talking it through with me before getting going, and spent time getting it exactly right, and even helping me out with styling pointers. I was happy with the cuts (if not the vibe) at my prior place, but now that I've had a chance to wash it, style it myself, and wear it for the day, it's definitely a cut above (pardon the pun) what I was getting at my prior place. Can't recommend him highly enough. Just an A+ across the board for making a new customer feel welcome, having a great environment, and giving a great haircut. Oh yeah, and it was $5 less for the cut than I was paying at my last place to boot.

The haircuts were good, so I kept coming back to her. Tuesdays her prices were $40, which was affordable, now I find out that it has increased exponentially to $100! It is not within my budget, and they don't offer senior discounts either. The service responses are automated as well.I WAS a client, not any longer.

Back in the day when I was young and impressionable, my mother told me that only Korean people…read moreunderstand how to cut Korean hair. For this reason, I have had more than one fobulous perm/dye job/you name it. I have also learned over time that my hair - dark, thin, and straight - doesn't require that much expertise to handle. Regardless, I find comfort in Korean hair salons, and am living proof of the efficacy of brainwashing. So when I found Park Jun on Orange around the same time that my bangs were going rogue, I decided to break my no-haircuts-in-New-Haven rule and see what happened. The space is clean, well-kept, and pretty open, with most of the interior visible through windowed walls from outside. I walked in and the lady on duty, who I suspect is the owner as there was no one else around, asked if I could wait for a little bit while she finished up with another customer (a male of, I suspect, the Korean persuasion, who minutes later had a spiffy haircut). I didn't wait long. I asked for a basic cut, and that's what I got. Shampoo, cut, blow-dry and all took twenty minutes or so, and cost a reasonable $40. Or was it $30? Shit, there go my "Useful" votes. The lady was very friendly and asked me questions about myself as if she were actually interested. She didn't judge me for my totally worthless language skills either. The one thing that I did find pretty funny was that I left the place with my hair styled almost exactly like hers, kind of straight with the ends curled in, and not a whole lot like mine when I walked in. It didn't matter though, as it washed back to normal, and I was happy with the cut. I'm glad I found this place and I'll be back again for East Coast hair maintenance.
