Ronny, the proprietor and instructor for the Albany Driving School was absolutely wonderful! After being a previous driver with an expired drivers license, I unfortunately had to go through the whole process all over again! Meaning, that I had to do permit, five hour class and road test once again! After receiving the 5 hour cerrification, it was time to take my road test! However i had two huge problems; one i did not have a vehicle to use and two I live in Gloversville and my road test was in Albany, which is about an hour away! I called atleast 5 other driving schools in the area who were not only pricey, but also unaccomadating! Most told me i would need several lessons prior to utilizing there vehicle! Which in turn would be a small fortune! Finally, I called the Albany Driving School and spoke with Ronny! At this point my driving test was a few days away, after explaining my situation, Ronny said no problem and quoted me a flat rate which was more than reasonable! I was on my way! Ronnie arranged a location to meet and text me the night before and the morning of as a reminder! My transportation to Albany that morning fell through so I had to call a cab! At this point I knew I was going to be late as hell! I text Ronny, and his cool demeamor once again told me, no problem, and that he would be waiting! I got to Ronnie almost 30 minutes late and he was there waiting as he said! Ronny moved over to the passenger seat as soon as i arrived, not knowing me from a whole in the wall or my driving skill and gave me the wheel! Ronny told me precisely with no exceptions what to expect and every nook and cranny of what I was about to face in a few minutes on my actual road test! He told me every turn, every stop and every sign to look out for to the T! I was beyond nervous but Ronnys cool and calm demeanor was contagious! Fast forward and the instructor gets in the vehicle and few minutes later, iI hear the words, you passed! All of this within about 20 minutes after meeting Ronnie for the very first time! I would not have passed, i do not believe without Ronnys detailed instruction! He went far and above my expectation! Then of course there was the icing on the cake! I had no way to get back to Gloveraville and I explained it to Roinny and once again to my surprise and delight, Ronny says no problem! He made a call,drove me around the corner to a car that would drive me back home for a nominal fee! ! Not only would I reccomend Ronnie and the Albany driving school but i truly hope to keep him as a friend! One of the easiest and best experiences of my life! I had taken my 5 hour course in NYC two years ago, but had to take it all over again because I didn't take my road test within a year. I always put off taking the road test because I was a nervous wreck, and I was afraid of failing. I also always hear people talking about how hard it is to park. I feared hitting the curb and automatically failing the exam. I am a SUNY student, and was looking for a reputable driving school that could work with my busy schedule. I barely had driving experience, but because Ronny is such a great instructor, I was able to pass my road test today with flying colors! I'll admit, I didn't have confidence in myself before the exam, but Ronny assured me that everything would be fine, and to do everything that he has taught me. Although he is strict, and I even wanted to cry one time (I didn't tell him that I was having a bad day), I know that if he didn't show tough love, I wouldn't have been able to pass my road test on the first try with only a week of practice. Ronny is a great instructor, believed in me when I didn't believe in myself, and gave me a warm up lesson the day of my road test (today). I do not know any other driving school that could have prepared me more than Albany Driving School. I will recommend this school to all of my friends. P.S I recommend that everyone take the five hour pre-lisencing course with this school. Not sure why the other review is so bad. I wasn't there. All I can say, is that I'm a very satisfied customer. We needed an emergency lesson, and didn't have a car to use. (Mines a standard and my girlfriend can't drive it). We were only 3 days from the road test, he met us two hours before, took her out, and had her parallel parking like a pro. She used his car for the test, and passed with no errors. It was absolutely well worth the money. I dont like seeing the negative review below, when my experience was so great and I dont normally go out of my way to leave them. But he deserves it. His communication was great as well. He was in the middle of a lesson when I called. He called me as soon as it was over,. And text me the night before confirming the time and location we were meeting and again in the morning. Ronny was really hard on me but he recognized my weak spots before I did, taught me hacks for a perfect K-turn, left turns and parallel parking and I will never forget them. After the first time, he corrects you everytime you make a mistake, and changed his demeanor and you can take that in a negative way, or use it as motivation to practice what he taught you, perfect it and impress him. He's funny and takes into consideration why you have the quirks you have and all the yelling he does pays off during the road test because it echoes in your head after each instruction the examiner gives you. I failed two times prior and had plenty of practice with my dad and an instructor from a driving school , but I knew I was missing a fundamental which he instilled in me and I passed my road test my first shot after taking lessons with him. Ronny is the best! I passed the road test after learning with him. I failed before, and after that I started taking lessons with him. He pointed out my bad habits and helped me fixed those. He also figured out my weakness being my nervousness whenever there are more traffic on the road, so he encouraged me and brought me to practice to overcome that. I am so grateful to him. To be sure, he's not always "nice and sweet" to you. He'd get tough and strict and very straightforward with you, which to me was very helpful. I had studied with "easy" instructors before, and I learned that when your instructor is too easy going with you, you won't learn much. Before the road test, Ronny explained to me in details what's going to happen in the road test, which also helped a lot. I totally recommend Ronny! At first, I was very nervous and was not having any confidence in driving because I was not aware about even basics of driving. I just passed my road test 30 minutes ago, and only had 5 points off. This was all due to the excellent teachings I got from Albany Driving School. My instructor, Ronny, was always helpful and thorough in explaining what I did wrong when we went out for lessons. I was taught by Ronny from the very beginning (when it was the first time I was driving a car), and he instilled in me great habits and instructions for the road. Ronny made sure I was doing the right thing all the time, and he was extremely supportive and informative. Every lesson I took helped me pass my road test! When it come to the Road Test I was really afraid, because I have failed it once time before. However, I have overcome the fear until I practice with Mr. Ronny. He kind of a very strict person. He doesn't want you to do well, he want you to do perfectly. He gonna yell or scold at you if you have a driving lesson with him. I think you need to get used to it. Because when you practice with an easy going instructor you are not able to know what is your mistake. Before I took classes with Reuel, I had driven on and off for years with friends and family but was more familiar with the road after 3 lessons. I had taken an extra lesson for a total of 4 right before my road and passed on my first try. Granted I had been practicing on my own outside of lessons with Reuel. He had encouraged me through out the lesson, reassuring my ability if confidence is an issue for you he is great to work with. I had trouble parallel parking early on and he would constantly work with me on how to best approach different size vehicles and wanted me to do what would work best for me considering I had a specific approach to how I did things. Ronnie is a great instructor. Not only is he honest with you, but he genuinely cares if you pass or fail the road test. You are not a dollar sign to him. He does not want to take your money or for you to fail in the end. I give Mr. Ronny my highest recommendation. Please do yourself a favor and take driving lessons with him, and even if he is fully booked keep pushing him to train you. I also highly recommend that you go with him to the road test! It is a great investment of your money, and I believe the examiners feel safe when they see him with you! I started with him from level zero and with practice and his great methods I passed my test the first trial without ANY mistake! I only heard compliments from the examiner! I chose Albany Driving school to take my Drivers test. Coming from Nyc I needed to rent a car with a licensed driver. The bus ride was a total of three hours. Albany Driving School was great Roni picked me up at the Greyhound station he was super friendly. He let me test drive to the driving site. After some coaching from Roni, I was able to pass my drivers test. What seemed to be an out of the way arrangement became very seamless. I recommend Albany Driving school for anyone from Nyc who doesn't have a car and would like to take their test as soon as possible. Albany's DMV has a shorter waiting list then other DMV's. Ronny is a very good driving instructor. I had some driving experience before I took lessons with him and still managed to fail the road test. I didn't have much confidence in myself until I took lessons with Ronny. He always made sure that you noticed your mistakes , made sure you know why it was a mistake , and did his very best to make sure you learned how to execute every turn, stop, and parking maneuver properly. The best instructor! When I came to him it was my first time driving and I passed my driving test on my first try. He is straight forward and will tell you what's best for you. He is excellent in teaching parallel parking and 3 point turns. He will make sure you practice everything on the road test until you get it 100% right. This is the best driving school in the district. Instructor can pick you up if you're in Albany. Ronny (the instructor) was really helpful, and has a good sense of humor. I didn't know anything about driving before, also I was kinda scared in the beginning. But now after those lessons, I am pretty confident about my driving.
