A high quality outfit that delivers great service. I've done two trips with them, and both were fantastic.

From the moment we arrived, it was clear we were in the hands of true professionals. Our mushers, Jaren and Dane, were incredibly experienced, knowledgeable, and genuinely passionate about what they do. They didn't just guide us - they educated us, patiently answering every single one of my (many!) questions with enthusiasm and depth. You can tell they truly love sharing this world with others. What stood out just as much as the scenery was the care and devotion shown to the dogs. Every single Alaskan Husky is clearly loved, respected, and exceptionally well cared for. It's obvious the entire team is deeply invested in the health, happiness, and wellbeing of these amazing animals, which made the experience feel even more special and authentic. And then there's the ride itself - absolutely breathtaking. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, and the trail felt like something out of a dream. We glided through endless stretches of pristine white snow, surrounded by pines trees, with the crisp Alaskan air filling our lungs. At one point, we were even treated to a clear view of Denali in the distance. This wasn't just a tour, it was a once-in-a-lifetime adventure that completely exceeded my expectations. I would recommend Alaskan Husky Adventures to anyone looking for something truly extraordinary.

If you're a solo female traveler, you may want to read this…read more I booked this tour after a warm phone call with Liz and drove over an hour to get there on February 15, 2026. The dogs were great and the trail was scenic, but my interaction with owner Matthew Failor detracted from the experience. At check-in, the waiver asked for my full address. When I hesitated and asked why, his response was essentially that I needed to fill it out or I wouldn't be allowed to go out on the sled. Only afterward did he vaguely mention insurance. Being given that kind of ultimatum in front of other guests felt coercive rather than respectful. After the run, he asked if I had fun and stayed warm. I answered simply and briefly. He then commented that I was "a woman of very few words," which came across as dismissive. He then asked where I live, despite my earlier hesitation about sharing personal information. As a woman traveling alone who had already shown discomfort about privacy, that felt intrusive and tone-deaf. The actual sled run was also noticeably shorter than expected, which made the overall experience feel less worth the cost. Liz later called, listened to my concerns, and processed a refund, which I appreciated. I'm sharing this so other women traveling alone can make an informed decision. While the dogs and trail were enjoyable, my interaction with Matthew made the overall experience uncomfortable and not worth repeating.

He used to teach history and science, and he was a treasure trove of knowledge. We went around all our activities and accommodations in a comfortable executive coach which provided endless drinks and thoughtful touches like snacks, bug spray, hand sanitizer, toilet covers! The hotels were suitable and the B&B near Palmer had the best views - as did the Lakeview Inn. The one thing I would recommend is advising us to eat locally and telling us exactly what time to make dinner reservations in advance (where / what time). It was impossible to get a cab in Seward.... We loved all the activities we picked - ATV, glaciers 4 ways (airplane, hiking on it, boating to it, ocean cruise), cultural tours, kayaking, fishing, gold panning, Denali hiking, train etc - it was endless animal sightings, whale watching and learning galore! I would highly recommend for any curious travelers who don't like just taking pictures of pretty places. We are looking forward to our last day of salmon fishing! Please book with these kind folks.

Mom and I took the small group, adult only, 10-day Grand Discovery Alaska. We started in Anchorage,…read moretraveled around and up to Denali then back to Anchorage where we jumped on the Dome Train to Seward. It was a whirlwind trip filled with A LOT of information, sight seeing, adventures, activities, tours and sitting in the van. Our driver/guide, Cullen was Great! One of the first things he told us right after he gave us his cell number was ... "You are going to do more in 10 days than most locals do in 20 years." He was not joking. We really crammed a lot into a short amount of time. Every day was a long day with most days not eating dinner until 8 or 9pm. There were 6 travelers plus Cullen. Our group was small and we were able to change and alter some plans easily (if we wanted and could.) In some cases, we weren't able to change things just because of timing. Thankfully, AAU / Cullen made reseravtions at all the eating places so we didn't really have to wait but a couple minutes when we stopped to eat. Every where seemed to be short staffed ( like everywhere else in the US ) and slammed with guests. So, having these reservations taken care of ahead of time was much appreciated so that we didn't really have to wait once we showed up. At one place, Cullen called our orders ahead and they were ready when we showed up! That really helped cut down on waiting / eating time so we could jump on the road quicker. Cullen even stopped at a roadside Jerky truck for us to pick up snacks! The one thing we (me and the group) were not aware of is that Cullen was not going with us for our time in Seward. When he dropped us off at the Embassy Suites on our last day with him, we felt a little lost and uncertain how things would go. This is mostly because Cullen literally took care of all arrangements and kept us 'on track' so we were in the right place at the right time. He also gave us great advice for a number of locations and activities. For the Denali Eielson Bus ride, he was adamant that we be the first ones in line and to sit in the front. He was not wrong! We got the best views of everything including the young grizzly 'chasing' the caribou down the road. (Actually.... the griz was running from the 3 busses and a caribou just happened onto the same trail/road as the griz so it looked like the griz was chasing the caribou when in fact both were running from the 3 busses.) If you get Cullen, ask him about his Moose encounter. This guy has 9 lives and I think he's used 8 of them already in his super adventurous life. If we could change or add one thing, it would be to have a little more time in Denali to relax and take in the area. It was Go-Go-Go all the time - jumping from one thing to the next and getting in really late in the evening that we didn't have time to enjoy a short hike in Denali (like the Savage River) or a campfire by the lake which would have been nice. Overall, we really enjoyed all the activities, sites and options that AAU included in their itinerary. I'm still downloading and sorting through pictures. Once I get them organized, I'll find a few to add to my review.

They had cool refreshments and snacks for us as well ! Since the day would be hot and Vern did not want to stress the dogs, he took us on the dog pull in his 4 wheel ATV which was a blast. The dogs loved to pull and pull - so much that the brakes on the ATV wore out. The dogs used the same voice commands as the Denali dog sled tour. Ha and Gi were the commands used in common. We went into the forest thru mud holes, water puddles, and very rough terrain which the dogs loved. Ironically, it was hotter in Alaska than Los Angeles by 15 degrees at the same time! It was so warm that all the mosquitos hatched and came out to attack. The Iditarod sled dogs don't seem to be bothered by them though. After we returned, Vern did his lecture on how an Iditarod team is built, planned, and executed. We learned quite a lot to be a competitor in a very grueling contest!

Where we left from (headquarters) was chilly but no snow, where we landed in 18" of new snow from over night...hello. A perfect mixture of the fun of driving ATVs in the wilderness with stops to explore nature and learn the natural history of this special place. Started with Oliver picking is up at the hotel in Anchorage. In a brand new and spacious van. He is prompt, smart, and very engaging. A delightful conversationalist for the 40 min drive to the launch point. We were then provided excellent, new, or seemingly new equipment (gloves, gators, helmets, and ATVs) and then given a safety briefing, and operations review of the equipment. And we were off... A wonderful morning of trails through woods, through stream beds, up to glacial lakes. We saw bald eagles, 1 moose, some sheep, and felt like we were in a truly special place. The guides were careful to make sure we had a fabulous (and safe) time. On the way back, we came to the aid of a stranded Alaskan who had lost a belt on their ATV, and we brought him back out. It's difficult to imagine a better morning introduction to Alaska. Would recommend it to anyone...no, no everyone!

I was hesitant about having to wear a helmet but have to say it is a must. As you fly through the trails at catch an errant tree limb this takes it like a champ. We loved getting to the glacier and then getting the option to polar plunge in the glacier. They made it easy and encouraged it. Beware of this tour company. They give you so little for the amount they charge, and their customer service is beyond poor. They asked for our flight itinerary, and were very careful to book us an additional night at full room rate at the start since we were coming in at 1 am, but we were charged full rate, ~$300.00 for room for the return day, yet on our return we were flying out that early evening and didn't need it. We asked for a refund because we weren't going to use the room and they refused, saying no refunds of any kind if it's 90 days or less. So we had to bear the cost of the unused room, and the included breakfast, yet had to pay for an additional night at the beginning. They could've just switched the extra day if they were more careful, but we trusted them. Also, cheaping out, the extra day at the beginning, they didn't include breakfast, on purpose. Most of the lunches included on the tour are cold box lunches. Dinners never included desserts, and nothing Market price, and on top of that, the itinerary was really quite poor for the price. There was a full day that they included nothing on! The bus was extremely small with tiny seats, cramped conditions. Overall we were very disappointed, especially since we have been to Alaska twice before, and it was done far better. Others in our group seemed to feel the same way. We would never use this company again, or recommend them.
