They tasted brilliant and I ended up having some hot dogs. I have also brought some chicken legs and thighs from here and used them to make a Thai Green Chicken curry. Again the chicken itself was excellent and I have no doubts I will be back. I do have to travel some way to get to Handsworth from West Bromwich but it is worth the travelling because I know I am guaranteed quality food from here. The staff are clean and wear hair nets and gloves. They are really friendly and chatty nice service. They are open six days a week. They usually have special offers in the window and I usually get the offers as its nice for a change and you can freeze them and because I know the quality is really good. Would recommend having a look and buying some pork sausages from here they are really yummy and you can tell the difference from fresh ones and frozen ones.

Clarke's have a really good selection of meat wehther you like it sliced, diced, chucked, minced, casseroled, braised and the prices are not silly. The pork, beek and lamb I have bought from there has all been from Wales. The mince meat I had looked low in fat. Lamb is always my favourite. If you are not a great cook, its very hard to go wrong with a pre prepared lamb kebab on the skewer with different coloured peppers. Their home made beef burgers are just 70p each. They are more than happy to give you the meaty facts if you want to go in and ask about what you are buying. Bon appetite.

We apologised and said we'd get some cash out and come back but the butcher insisted we take the purchases and pay next time we where in! We had never been in before and such a gesture was completely unheard of for either myself or my boyfriend. We were so shocked (in a good way) at his trustworthiness we went straight to the bank and got some cash out and paid him the same day. We have been back a number of times and the meat is exquisite, not to mention the staff wonderful.

I wasn't sure about the meat being in the front window even though it was in a covered glass case however that was my only quibble. The guys behind the counter were all very helpful and polite and the final bill although high was about average for what I bought. On cooking the bacon and sausages I was quite happy to see no manky white stuff came out the bacon and was happy with the taste. The sausages I was a bit disappointed with as the casing was quite tough. Still, not bad. The Sunday roast was brilliant. No shrinkage and the meat was tender and juicy. So this butcher is recommended, but I'll stick to my usual one.
