We've been using Alan since 1987 or 1988. Over the years we've bought and sold real estate, invested in stocks and mutual funds and dealt with inheritance and estate issues.
Alan is all the things that a good accountant should be: thorough, detail oriented and knowledgeable. When we drop off our return his assistant goes through a list of questions: have we bought or sold any real estate, have we bought a car, is there any change in marital status or number of dependents, etc. just so we don't miss any tax deductions. He's always on top of the latest changes in the IRS tax code and he e-files our returns. I referred him to a friend of mine and she thinks he's great.
More than that, Alan takes it a step further. When we pick up our tax return the office includes a pre-addressed envelope to the IRS and Illinois Department of Revenue. We just need to put on a stamp and mail it in. If we have questions during tax season or during the rest of the year we can always call him. If he's not available he returns phone calls within a day.. He's patient and explains things in a way we can understand.
He is available for financial planning and charges us a flat rate of $95.00 per half hour. He doesn't offer investment services as far as buying or selling stocks, etc. so we feel that his advice is objective. read more
