Easily one of the best *actual* martial arts schools out there. The training focus is on effective self defense in real world scenarios. You'll learn a plethora of ways to react to any given situation and multiple responses to any method of attack. There are a lot of "McDojos" out there that will teach you fancy looking moves that won't do you any good in a fight. This is not one of those. You will learn true and effective combat that will both toughen you up and save your life. Scott is an incredible teacher that cares for his students and will do whatever it takes to make them successful. Between group classes and private instruction, you'll make rapid and notable progress in your confidence, skills, and especially fitness. If you've ever had any interest at all in trying any kind of martial art style, you won't find a better place than this. read more

Guro Scott is an amazing instructor and his 30 years of experience in the combative arts is apparent as soon as you start to work with him. What sets him apart is his ability to communicate and teach the art to any student regardless of skill-set, age or conditioning. He has a deep passion for the art that is easy to recognize but still manages to keep the classes fun. His attention to detail during class is impressive. Everyone gets the same level of attention and very little gets by his eye when it comes to form. The facilities at Alamut Combative Arts are first class and always clean and well-organized. As soon as you walk through the door you're ready to train. Truly feel lucky to have Guro Scott and Alamut Combative Arts in New Orleans. I look forward to progressing my knowledge and skill of the arts with Guro Scott and Alamut. Cheers read more

My son has been taking lessons from Mr. Hughes for the past couple months and I can't say enough good things about this experience. He runs a very professional well-organized training studio and is a great instructor. He keeps lessons fresh introducing new content each week and tailors the pace to my teenage son's level and progression. My son is very motivated about class every week and he actually puts down the iPad during the week to practice, fully attributable to the environment Mr. Hughes creates and how he motivates my son. Well worth every penny! read more

I have known Scott for a few years now and Scott is a real PTK guro. He teaches authentic PTK, always keeping the main principles in mind and staying true to the essence of this battlefield art. While serious about training Scott also likes to make sure you are enjoying class and getting the most out of his teachings. I have been practicing martial arts for ten years and I always walk away from classes with Scott learning something new or better understanding the skills I have already acquired. read more

Started training with Scott 8 months ago and it has been life changing! Scott provides knowledge, expertise and a skillset that is unparallel to anyone else I have ever worked with. In today's world, I came to Scott with a great amount of fear in going about my day to day life and now 8 months later I am living more prepared and aware rather than living in fear. Highly recommend working with Scott. Your life is too important not to invest in acquiring a skillset to protect it. read more

It's hard to describe how great this facility is without experiencing it. It is pure, in every sense of the word; from Scott's knowledge of the arts that he teaches to the cleanliness of the place, as well as the like-minded students that all share the goal of learning from Scott. If you want to learn the right way and are willing to practice what is taught, you will gain invaluable tools to protect yourself and your loved ones for the rest of your life. read more
