RIDICULOUS ! Has potential but This campground is definately for the nature lovers. Its wooded and shady with lots of wildlife around. The river was meh and not near where our site was site 303. I would NOT call this a RESORT by any means just a campground No pool, no community room , no bikes nothing just nature which is fine if that's what you want But when the sign says resort and the paper work is PAGES of rules I think resort not woods. We enjoyed our stay it was quiet. Great WiFi and tv Price was fair but we left a few days early to get closer to our destination and were told by office we would not get a refund for our days we were not there OWNERS RULES !!!!! read more

The park manager is very rude. I was driving 8MPH and he let me know (Speed limit is 5MPH). As I left him he had to turn around and he drove the wrong way to get to a different road and still passed me up, he was definitely exceeding the speed limit. I drove to him and let him know. He then got petty and said that after my current paid time was up that I had to leave. The only reason I gave them 2stars is because they just installed a new pool. read more

One of the best RV Resorts we've run across... EVER! Have a 38' Fleetwood Expedition and were given a pull through lot. Woke up with Deer in our front window the next morning, small river a short walk, plenty of walking trails and good people. Picnic benches and grated campfire safe amenities provided. Chili cookoff held while there, awesome free dinner! Have to say there is a strict 5 mph speed limit and I understood why as Deer/Squirrels/Doves, Crows/Turkey vultures and I'm sure some wildlife I didn't see crossing the roads with no worries or cares. San Antonio is 15 minutes away on good roads and highways, Alamo and River Walk for tourism inclined. read more

Place is in dire need of maintenance and not much to do there. Very friendly however, off the beaten path. Too many long term residents mixed in with travelers. Not very appealing. New back area is better but needs restroom buildings. read more

What a wonderful management team!! Beautiful sites nestled around a river!! They got us right in, and treated us like family!! The OWNER stopped by our site to make sure we had everything we needed. The maintanance guy helped us hook up. No problem. I have a quiet shaded area with great Internet and TV services. I couldn't be happier after a disaster at Braunig Lake RV resort, the no service RV park!! I have a service dog. No problem. I like privacy. No problem. Wow!! They are just really nice and work with people. They have cows, chickens, a few cats catching any mice that would be a problem. It's country, river, and convenience!! I wasted a lot of time and money finding the right place to stay. My advice, start here. read more

This place is amazing. We had a wonderful weekend. Great place to relax and enjoy nature and go fishing or swimming. My only concern is the wonderful word gets out about this place and then they will always be busy when we want to go camping. It's out at Medina river it's a beautiful location that I don't think a lot of people know of. The owner is very attentive, I'll they come around to pick up your trash in the trash cans regularly . We stayed at this campground in early August, so it was hot! It would be even better in the winter. But the benefit of the summer is that it isn't crowded. We had reserved tent site 31 online but when we got there the very nice lady at the front desk said we could camp at any of the open sites. After driving past all available sites we ended up choosing site 38. 31 was off on its own and you could walk directly to the river however there wasn't much privacy from the road that was just up the hill, still a really nice site. Site 38 however had water which we decided was important to us. 38 is in a group of quite a few tent sites but since we were one of only a few campers there it wasn't a problem. The river that runs past the campground was really nice, there is even a little beach area. We swam in the water and even tubed down the very short rapid by the "beach". I think the most impressive party (or the part I was most worried about) was the bathroom/shower facilities. There are out houses down by the campsites but back up top near the office are 4 bathroom/shower combo rooms. I love this idea! The shower is closed off by curtains in the corner of the room and the toilet and sink are in two other corners. The benefit of this is that the shower area is quite large, I'm not a fan of shower curtains coming close to touching me and I had no issues with this large shower area. Water temperature and pressure were also good and the rooms have AC! The location is great, about 15-20 mins to downtown San Antonio and there is a train track nearby but we really only heard about 2 trains in the early evening. Ya'll ready for some good old Texas hospitality?! Love this veteran owned and operated RV Resort and campground!!! Active duty, veteran and law enforcement friendly. It's a very easy mile off of I-35, about 5 miles south of Lackland and the River Walk and all the attractions. Very light traffic with a rural feel. Extremely peaceful and relaxing. We stayed for a week to enjoy our sons graduation from Lackland AFB. Our group rented three RV sites and a cabin. We enjoyed a large family (30ish) Fathers Day and Lackland AFB BMT graduation party in the grass under the large shade trees. This park is very well run. Super friendly and responsive staff. Very well maintained. Large spacious full hook up sites. The bathrooms, showers and laundry facilities are immaculate and AIR CONDITIONED!! Family and pet friendly! We had four kids and four dogs in our group. They love this place! Lots to do and see. Kids loves seeing the animals! And plenty of room for frisbee, baseball toss and fetch with the pups. read more

One of the most beautiful RV parks we've stayed in. We had dear walking through our campsite every evening! My husband didn't like the train whistles at night but I loved the distant sound. I just loved it here until we went to take a shower and the shower would not drain. In just a few minutes sewage started coming up. There is no barrier around the shower so the whole bathroom was quickly flooded! I never dressed so fast in my life! All four showers were having this problem. When I went to the front office to inform them, another camper was already there telling them about the sewage. I backed up his story with my own. The woman at the desk simply told us this hadn't happened in years. She didn't know when it would be fixed. She did not apologize. She did not act concerned at all. For me, the beauty of the place did not outweigh the lack of concern for customers coming in contact with raw sewage. read more

We called ahead and got a good idea of what we needed and what to expect. Upon arrival, we were beyond impressed. Wendy was so helpful and accommodating. She didn't rush us or seem bothered even though we came just after closing. (We didn't know!) We were able to take advantage of their active duty special. The store had everything we needed that we didn't grab beforehand. (Fire wood and energy drinks, plus cow candy for the little one!) She not only got us our map she was kind enough to actually take us to our site and show us where the facilities were. Since we came during the week, no one else was using the primitive tent sites with us which made for a private and exclusive experience. During the night, we could still hear trains and airplane but none of that could've ruined our amazing night. We were provided with a fire ring and couldn't have asked for more. She made sure to give us a 24 hour phone number in case there were ANY problems. Definitely will be back any time we are in town. Thank you again. read more

A one star campground that uses the policies of a five star resort. READ THE CAMPING AGREEMENT "carefully " because you may loose $150 upon leaving. Don't be fooled by common sense. Perhaps the owners are greedy, money hungry, inconsiderate and uncaring business people or maybe they JUST DON'T CARE about the customer. Therefore we will not return to this location. Great place to stay! We loved the easy access and central location to many places to see and explore. Veteran friendly and great discount. The facilities were clean and accessible. Staff was very friendly and helpful. We traveled down from Maine and found this place to be a treasure spot. There are many trails for walking and hiking, with lots of wildlife to see. Owner stopped by to check on us and make sure we were happy with our spot. We will be back and stay longer next year. read more

I don't usually give reviews but I felt it necessary to explain the reason for the 1 star review. Let me begin by saying that our stay was okay. We had no issues during our stay. Our kids had a blast. They love to be outside and that is what they did the whole time. We stayed in a cabin. The cabins are nothing to write home about but it worked. There are white shag pillows on the couch and a white bath rug that were both very, very dingy. The coffee pot was also quite filthy. We checked out 3/13/18. The next day my husband is looking at our bank account and noticed a $100 charge from Alamo River. We still hadn't received our $100 deposit back. My Husband gives them a call. The person he spoke with claimed that they charged us $100 for stealing a Texas quilt, breaking the bathroom blinds and staining one of the bathroom towels with dye (because who doesn't bring dye with them on camping trips). So, of course, my husband asks to speak to the supervisor. He calls him back the next day and says he needs to speak with the lady who cleaned the cabin. He finally calls back on Saturday and now it's been changed to we destroyed all of the bathroom towels and rugs and they will have to buy everything new. In the end they gave us our deposit back and $50 back of the other $100 they charged. Here is my issue. We did absolutely none of these things! I do NOT appreciate being called a thief. I also do not appreciate someone saying we destroyed things when we did nothing of the sort. And to just charge $100 on someone's bank account without calling them to say why or even asking if we did these things first? Even if I ever entertained the thought of stealing, there were things that were so dirty I wouldn't even take it. We'll let them steal $50 from us because obviously they must be hurting for money or some other reason. That $50 better be used to purchase new towels and a bath rug....and the blinds we supposedly broke. hopefully they'll be kind enough to send us a picture of the new look. I just wish we could've enjoyed the new rug and towels. I really don't like to leave bad reviews but felt this one to be necessary. read more

First of all I want to start the review with...the camground is clean and beautiful, my teenage boys had a great time fishing and playing with the rope swing, and the people were very nice, and this review would probably be a 4 or 5 if we would have been in a camper or cabin.... BUT.....there is a train switching station less than a half mile away from this place. All night we heard constant reverse beeping, train horns and loud banging and crashing. We were in a tent and had a toddler. We would have made other arrangements if we would have known about it. We did mention it at the office (thinking it was construction) and was told the construction crews didn't work on the weekend. (We're pretty sure they were aware of what the noise really was). Just wanted to let people know. In all the reviews we found, not one mentioned this noise and needless to say, we got very little sleep for 2 nights. read more

I love Alamo River Resort! I have been riding our horses there for years and have had several camping events there. Even had our company campout there. The Resort is divided into two separate areas: the upper RV area and the lower river camping area. And they are very different. The upper area is a typical RV area with gravel RV pull throughs and utilities. The restrooms are big with separate shower/restroom stalls so a family can fit in each one. The lower area is the river camping area. As you descend into the area it completely changes to a lush, green wooded area. Almost completely shaded by trees so even in the summer (and it's hot) you have shade for camping, hiking, biking, and horseback riding. The lower area is basically "primitive" with water but no electricity. Some areas have designated (numbered) tent areas and some are sorta "up for grabs" large areas -- camp where you want. Half of the areas are next to the river and the other half are a short distance away among the woods. The staff has always been friendly and helpful. Scout troops (boy scouts and Girl Scouts) get a discount. Best times to camp are spring and fall. This is Texas.....so camping in the summer is hard to do because of the heat. Alamo River Resort makes it a bit easier by having so much shade. read more

Well workers are awesome. Super laid back. We had a pop up and the Pop up sites is basically an open grassy field. Kind of like my backyard. If you have an rv, it's pretty nice. And for a tent, if no electricity is your thing, not a bad place either. But Pop ups, do yourself a solid and find somewhere else read more
