I was a AAA member and was having serious bad luck with cars during the 2025 holiday season basically all of Dec into January of the new year and had to call for a jump for a truck and met Russ who came in no time to the rescue even though AAA was telling me I could be waiting hours, smh. Russ was such a nice guy and he referred me to Alamo as it's also a AAA accredited shop for further assistance with my vehicle, I believe he actually works from that garage. And after seeing how nice Russ was and after reading other reviews I figured Alamo wouldn't be a bad place to try out and boy was my instinct correct !!!!!!!! As I was advised I took my truck there for a battery replacement and it was the only vehicle I had to get around in given my old beater was also being worked on. I brought it there and Allen got me in and out and made me feel comfortable regarding the always tedious and annoying situation of just being able to even get to the battery in my truck. I was grateful he got me taken care of so at least now I have one vehicle to get around in and plus I was appreciative they didn't murder my already depleted pockets. While I waited Tracey seemed cool too with nice conversation. I knew after getting out with my truck quickly then that I had a shop that I could possibly rely on in my area, which is hard to find as most know. Well I after paying money that I didn't have to get my other car out of another shop ( where the people aren't as nice as in Alamo ) lol, that car now abruptly, allllll of a sudden crapped out on me with even worse trouble ( seemingly transmission related ) so the first thing I thought was if I can get it anywhere let me try to get it to Alamo, especially given I didn't wanna use my last allotment of service claims for a tow with AAA. Thank GOD after fooling with the car myself and putting trans fluid in and sitting in disbelief, as well as serious despair in between and then thinking the car wasn't gonna make it, ultimately I made it to Alamo and it seemed after explaining my trouble to Allen that he's pretty knowledgable and gets it even though he hadn't looked at the car yet so I was again pretty comfortable with having my car there. There's no twist here because it turns out that Allen called to tell me days later that it ain't looking good because it maybe indeed the trans, and he empathized with me and even though times are hard for these car shops and the price of parts, etc due to tariffs, he still empathized and waved my diagnosis fee and boy did I need that, because between my financial situation and the sudden trouble I was having with these cars it's been unreal. For this I am extremely grateful and will forever be a customer and I strongly recommend and seriously advise folks that care about getting GOOD SERVICE from people that care in these days of the cold cold world we live in that you take your car to Alamo for any car related need. They won't disappoint. In the midst of my car recent car troubles the one thing I can say that's good is at least I have met a lot of genuinely nice and trustworthy people in car shops in my area and Allen and the whole shop is in that number for sure. Had a flat tire on a very busy highway after dark with our family on our way home. Tyrone the tow truck driver came to help change the tire. Lug nuts were stripped so it had to be towed to station. He got us to a hotel safely. The next morning got a call from the owner of the station saying he came in on the holiday (Labor Day) to put our spare on for us so we could get home. Alamo always comes through for us. We've been using their services for 15 years. We trust Alamo. They don't try and get every penny from you. They don't throw in unnecessary services. We've brought them quotes and they've told us that we were misinformed (meaning the competitor was trying to pull a fast one). They have good prices too! They are always below anyone else and that's without price matching. They are the price others would have to match. I like that I can go somewhere and trust that they are going to do what's best for my car without overcharging and without doing things not needing to be done. Alamo was sent to me by AAA. Long story but we had accidentally locked the keys in the car. AAA said Alamo would be there "within the hour." Alan from Alamo was there in about 15 minutes. It took him about five minutes to get the door open for us with no damage to the vehicle. I explained that part of the original problem was that the car would not start - completely dead. He suspected dirty battery cables and went out of his way to disassemble them, clean them and replace them. And it has worked fine since. Alan friendly and went out of his way to help. I was visiting friends in Munster and the starter failed on my Crown Vic PI. I had AAA and they were approved so I had them tow my car to the shop. The tow truck arrived sooner than expected. Once they worked on my car they were done in about 45 minutes. Amazingly fast. The owners were very friendly and the waiting room has some cool memorabilia. I was distressed to lose my car fob while out of town on a visit to friends. AAA contacted Alamo Auto Service Center in Hammond,IN . They sent Josh Riddle over to the house to tow my car to a dealership. It was pouring rain and my car was parked in a very awkward position at the back of the home. Josh was friendly, cheerful and incredibly optimistic that he'd be able to work the car onto the bed of the truck. Josh not only succeeded in getting my car onto the bed of the truck, he did so while making me laugh and feel much better about the loss of my fob. The car was delivered to the dealership in excellent shape. I will recommend Alamo to all of my friends and family. read more

If i could give zero stars I would. My car broke down on 90/94 and was towed here by AAA. While my car was in their "service center" no one was able to give me a straight answer as to what was going on with it and why it had stalled in the first place. After days of calling and having different male friends call, I collected several different stories but what I put together for myself was this: the hard drive crashed cutting out the power and forcing me to pull over onto the side of the road. When it got to Alamo, one of the guys in the shop quit while working on my car- meaning that he said "I quit" and walked out in the middle of doing whatever he was doing. Of course, no one I spoke to could tell me this, because as my name suggests, I am a female. They could however tell my boyfriend that story. My car continued to stay at Alamo in the parking lot in beautiful Hammond, IN for several days longer than was necessary since I'm assuming they had to hire more help to replace the computer. if something goes wrong with your car, you are better off googling it, ordering your own parts, and fixing it yourself. My truck broke down and they were called using my AAA membership. Got me towed within 45 minutes and replaced my alternator in less than hour. The Gentleman that I dealt with showed me how truck tested as needing new alternator than showed me how truck was charging correctly after installed. Very friendly people, offered me directions to get back on highway why very pleased and impressed with service offered at fair price.
