The wait staff was attentive and hustling. We never wanted for drinks and our food was delivered on time and ready-to-eat. "Prensa iberico" is a loin dish that this place does especially well. Comes with a specie of pineapple chutney and rough-grated Italian cheese sprinkled over the meat. We were super-impressed with that! If you are looking for an upper-scale-but-too-ritzy place for a special dinner, let this place rank as a strong candidate.

We came back again this weekend forba birthday celebration and I was surprised when I saw the menu had changed and there was more variety to choose. The food was decent now, being the octopus risotto the star of the menu, although they have fallen into the unoriginality of all the "modern" restaurants in Madrid too: tuna tartar, steak tartar, ceviche ans the lot. The goats cheese lollypops were too strong and accompanied by ketchup. Nothing very New York in the menu, except for a burguer and a couple of sandwiches with american names. Needless to mention the omnipresent cheesecake. The brownie was very dry as well. All this would have been passable if the bill wouldnt have been almost 30€ per head. Not worthy the price at all and the service was terrible too. We had to keep on reminding them to bring the beers ans the waiters seemed busier playing and joking amongst themselves than serving the tables. Also at the booking time, as we were a party of 14, my friend was enquired about the tyoe of party and warned about certain rukes of behaviour (no fancy dress, no noise...), really? As a positive comment I will say the deco is very nice, although nothing different from the thousand of other new places neobistro in Madrid. If you eant to go there, do so for a drink. They have a good selection of whiskys, rums and gins, but the non alcoholic cocktails are not good at all.

Clarita seemed to be close and was opening soon. Perfect; enough time to stroll the streets and make our way around the neighborhood. I forgot we were in Europe. They may have posted hours, but the individual establishments tend to operate on their own schedule. And that is one of the things that attracts me to it & has me dreaming about retiring on the coast of Spain one day. We eventually were able to make our way in to the cafe only to find out they don't serve food until later into the evening. No worries, I'll take a cafe con leche & my husband will have a glass of wine. We were toasting the start of what would turn out to be an amazing vacation. Tip for future diners: They don't prefer you to use credit cards when you have a small bill. They were nice enough to accommodate us as we had not yet made our way to the ATM, but just want diners to be aware.

I had walked by Clarita un montón de veces, but never ventured in until last Thursday for dinner…read more My date ended up finding a great dinner deal for Clarita on the phone app El Tenedor, so we decided to try our luck. I had always asusmed this locale was just a regular, run-of-the-mill bar, but no sir - in the back of the bar there is a giant salon with ample seating space. Firstly I'd like to commend the wait staff. Our waitress was delightful and unimposing, but perfectly attentive and always smiling. Her disposition definitely added to our dining experience. We shared the ceviche for an appetizer and it was a HUGE portion! We couldn't even finish it all for fear of not having room for the rest of the meal. Flavor was right on. Then I got the pulpo a la brasa, one of my absolute favorites, and it was quite good. It was served with potatoes and mango salsa. My date got the teriyaki/sesami tuna steak. I'll admit that I'm not a big tuna fan, but I must say this one hit tyhe spot. Even I would order it. Dessert was a pastry dish with dulce de leche ice cream. Warning, it is VERY rich. Definitely to be shared. Noise level isn't awful, bathroom downstairs was very clean, and free wifi is always a plus.
