chicken samosas
Rachel Z.

service upon seating was good. the man taking our order was patient in helping us make selections and deciding which spice level to get. however, we were not approached at all until we were finished and asked for 2 boxes to go. after asking, the same man came over 2 more times within the next 5 minutes to ask if we needed more boxes as we were already packed up and paying despite no more food laid out. the intention may have been good but found it a little odd. the mango lassi was delicious and very refreshing. although the samosas were smaller than expected, they were tasty and reasonable for the cost. we ordered 2 garlic naan which was perfect for the portion sizes. the chicken in both dishes were nice and tender too. although it was my first time trying the qorma which was good, my friend said it wasn't the best she had. i liked the chicken biryani but found it spicy for my preference (medium), and would probably choose a milder option next time. overall the portions were good and we were able to split this among two meals for both of us.

Ambiance: it's an old fashioned restaurant located in a shared busy plaza, limited parking spots, this location is more for takeout orders Service: impatient and rushed to place the order, server only wanted to talk to guys and sort of reluctant to serve female guests, unwelcoming and dismissive vibe Food: classic selections for Indian food, the mix has the best value Tandoori Mix Plate - *** A mixture of tandoori items, two pieces of each items, Chicken Tikka Kabob - **** with bone, marinated chicken legs and thighs cooked in clay oven, tasty, recommend Chicken Reshmi Kabob - * boneless, tender marinated chicken breast cube pieces cooked in clay oven, so dry and rubbery Boti (Bihari) Kabob - *** Marinated boneless beef stakes cooked in clay oven, average Seekh Kabob - **** Marinated ground beef kabobs cooked in clay oven, flavorful, recommend Lamb Qorma - *** Cubed pieces of lamb mildly spiced then prepared in onion sauce, not spicy but very salty Plain Rice - *** steamed saffron rice, average Garlic Naan - *** barely tasted warm and not crispy, not made freshly Price: moderate portions and affordable prices, although not worth the food quality, expect $25~$30 per person

I've been meaning to go this restaurant since I read Jonathan Gold's original review and hearing from another foodie that their naan was perfect. The restaurant looks like a run down middle school cafeteria without the steam trays. Cold white lighting. The service was friendly but getting refills took too long. I've not been in a sit down restaurant in years that won't give tap water. They lost a star for this. As for the food. We ordered the tandoori mix sizzling plate and chicken tikka masala, and a couple of naan (plain and garlic). The sizzling plate was a big miss. The tandoori chicken was leathery. The beef items were dry and crumbly. The chicken in the tikka masala was mediocre. The curry sauce was tasty. The naan was light had a nice texture. The garlic naan was disappointing because it didn't taste of garlic. If I ever mind myself at this place, I'd probably try the butter naan. Bottom line, will I be returning of my own accord? No. Would I refuse to go if someone wanted to go? Also no. The place has Johnathon Gold's review on their menu, however, I'm not sure if Gold would write the same review today on that s place. There are better restaurants in the South Bay.

Ambiance: Not much for ambiance. A typical ma and pa Indian food joint. Simple and clean decor in a small strip mall Food: What they miss in ambiance they more than make up with the food. Besides you don't eat ambiance. I had the chicken tiki masala and the garlic naan and both were amazing. In fact I live more than 500 miles from here but whenever I'm in town they are a must. Home cooked goodness! Service: 8/10 for service Parking: Parking is ok but during busy times you may have to park across the street. Overall: I love this place. Good food. Good portions and reasonably priced.

Stopped by for a lunch break and the food was delicious! I got the Half Rice, Garlic Naan, Chicken Tikka Masala and Mango Lassi. The Tikka Masala had the right amount of spice. Garlic Naan is great to dip in the Tikka Masala. The rice was decent, I've had better rice elsewhere. The service was great and the ambiance had the family restaurant vibe, pretty chill. The tab went over $30+ which is pretty pricey but at the same time everything is going up. Overall: I would recommend this spot for Halal food and would come back whenever I'm in the area.

What a treasure Al Noor is! It's a small mom & pop shop which offers quality delicious food. I was a little worried we showed up too late as it was an hour before closing but I am happy to report that we did not feel rushed at all when ordering or dining in. We started with vegetable pakora which were crispy and flavorful. The mint chutney was not overpowering and really balanced out the tanginess of the other sauce which I'm not sure what it's called but it was tart and spicy (not too spicy). This time I wanted to try the Chicken Tala Gosht, spicy, under their special menu. The chicken was shredded so it really allowed more of the flavors to marinate in the meat. The Chicken Tikka Masala, mild, is something we alway order and it never disappoints. Perfectly complemented with the Garlic Naan and Biriyani. Not pictured but we also had chicken biriyani and kheer rice pudding. It sounds like they sold out of the kheer for the day but they make have been making a fresh batch for preparation the next day because the host explained to us that the pudding is normally served cold, but if we're still interested, we could try it hot/warm. He also mentioned that his mom would serve it warm so it's equally as enjoyable in different temperatures. When it was brought out, we were instructed to stir well. I'm sure the consistency is thicker once it's refrigerated but it reminded me of champurado. The rice was creamy and smooth. Surprisingly there were no nuts but I did find a cardamom pod. You know when someone can't sleep and they drink warm milk to help? I would rather have this. It was so flavorful! I think it was such a treat and it felt like we got an item from a secret menu. We had an amazing time and the pudding was a perfect way to end the night.

Chicken Biryani

This was my first time ordering Al Noor and I was pleasantly suprised. I ordered the Chicken Biryani. The portion was huge! The chicken was well seasoned and very juicy. The rice was fluffy and delicious. They also added a nice Cucumber salad which was a nice surprise. Overall I thought the food was fantastic and the price very reasonable. I will definitely be ordering from Al Noor again.

Chicken Tikka Masala, Palak Paneer, Garlic Naan

Hidden gem Pakistani restaurant in SoCal. Saw this place was supposed to have the best Garlic Naan ever so had to check it out. Second you walk in you feel the relaxed casual atmosphere but at the same time excitement because you're in for something special. Was greeted by the owner upon walking in he was very friendly attentive. Everything from the Samosas to the Palak Paneer and Biryani were phenomenal. Spicy Biryani was so good but the Mango Lassi was perfect to cool you down. Best part was the Garlic Naan with the Chicken Tikka Masala perfect together. Highly recommend.

Palak Paneer

Palak Paneer was super tasty and you can't go wrong with the naan. Simple ambiance and quick service

It's been years since I've eaten here but the food and quality is still top notch. Came here for lunch with friends and ordered a few items that we all shared. Vegetable samosas, chicken tikka masala and paleek paneer as well as garlic naan. Everything was delicious and exactly as I remembered. You can choose the level of spiciness for some dishes which is a nice option. Interior is simple with a handful of dining tables. Staff is efficient.

Second time at this place and it was just as good as the first. In a little strip mall, and…read moretotally nondescript on the outside. The food is SO good though. It seems to be owned and run by a couple, who are nice and very hardworking. We tried the shrimp pakoras (little fried shrimps). Came six shrimps to an order. We always enjoy pakoras (and samosa) but I've never had the shrimp pakoras before and it was definitely worth trying. Comes with two sauces, one spicy and one in the sweet side. Yummy. We ordered butter chicken, lamb vindaloo and eggplant bartha, along with garlic naan and a side of rice. Every dish was delicious--beautifully cooked and seasoned. I ordered the lamb and eggplant medium spiced while E had her butter chicken mild. All were really flavorful and perfectly spiced. Really, you should try this place. Among the best Indian (Himalayan) food I've had in Los Angeles. A gem discovery for sure. About $75 for the three entrees, rice, naan and pakoras. Totally worth it! We will be regulars here!

But man, these people are cooking some of the best Indian food I've ever had. Treated myself to the chicken vindaloo, side of rice and plain naan. All were great portiions (I ate half, too the other half home), and cooked to perfection. Perfect ratio of potato-to-chicken. The sauce was to die for. The naan was a really good portion, also perfectly done. I was blown away. This place may have even unseated my favorite Indian restaurants on 6th Street in NYC's East Village. Well done! Compliments to the chef and HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

I had heard great…read morethings from reviews and even had family member recommend their pizza, so we finally decided to give it a shot. For our first visit, my daughter suggested the Tandoori Tikka Pizza (Tandoori Chicken). We also ordered the Halal Chicken Wings, Garlic Naan, and a small salad. Right away, the smell when you walk in is incredible, and the staff greets you immediately, which made a great first impression. Now for the food -- the pizza was delicious with the perfect amount of toppings. The sweet and tangy BBQ sauce really brought everything together. I personally would've liked a little more cheese, but the crust was cooked perfectly with a nice chewy texture. The wings were another standout that both my wife and I really enjoyed. Slightly crispy on the outside while still delicate and moist inside, with a mild heat from the spices that wasn't overpowering. The naan was decent with a good garlic flavor, although it was a bit thin for my preference. The salad was fresh and delicious -- we always appreciate having plenty of vegetables with our meals. Overall, definitely recommend checking them out. Next time we're planning to try the Butter Chicken Pizza.

It's been a long week and I needed some comfort food. I was in the South Bay this weekend and…read moredecided to look for a place to get a good gyro. I dropped by on a Saturday afternoon, where a few other patrons were already dining. The seating has around 6 or so tables inside that can fit around 4 each, and they also have high chairs for children! I ordered a number 17, which is the gyro, and got a side of hummus and pita then found a table to sit at. I had just finished buckling my child into the high chair when my order was delivered to my table! They are super fast here! The super friendly waiter delivered my meal, and I dug in. The gyro was stuffed with meat! This is a huge deal, since a lot of places skimp and don't give enough. So extra points to Al Hamra for a job well done. The flavor of the meat was juicy and well seasoned, super delish! The hummus and pita was good, although I usually add a bit of spices to my hummus so this one was a little plainer than I'm used to. Either way, it was a nice addition to the meal. The grand finale were the desserts! I usually go for baklava, but decided to try the knafeh, a layered cheese dessert with syrup and pistachios. Get the knafeh! The warm cheese and syrup were so delicious and made for the perfect ending to a good meal! I will definitely be back, the food was super tasty, and the people working there were friendly and helpful. Thanks for the happiness, Al Hamra!

Our group of four adults and two kids came in starving. I had the chicken kabob wrap, which was a perfect burrito-sized meal, while my husband enjoyed a beef and chicken kabob plate that fully satisfied his appetite. Honestly, the highlight for me was the warm pita served with garlic mayo, so much better than the cold or room-temperature pitas you often get at otherMediterranean spots. We also shared dessert, the kulfi cheesecake, and left completely stuffed. Al Hamra is a cozy family-run restaurant with just a few tables, but the food makes it well worth it. I'll definitely rotate between this spot and Chicken Maison for future visits.
