Conveniently located hotel in Venice. The room is a tad small but manageable. They do have optional paid breakfast but we decided to get breakfast around the city instead. The staff were nice and helpful. I would return. read more

First, the staff is excellent and bend over backwards to help and provide what ever you need. I arrived via train after dark and the hotel helped get a water taxi to help pick me up at the train station. I stained a jacket somehow and the staff bent over backwards to try to remove it. They did a great job. The restaurant and the 2 bars are superb. Go to the bar that is not next to restaurant and get a specialty drink. When we were there they were offering Negronis with calvados to reflect a Salvador Dali painting that is in the Guggenheim. I want to give a shout out to Alberto at the Concierge desk who helped me numerous times, including with my stained jacket. A top notch experience.

Walking distance from everything you want in Venice. They gave us a free bottle of Bellini when we checked in. Great breakfast buffet right on the water, that was included with our room for being Marriott elite members. This has to be one of the nicest best hotels in Venice. The only somewhat downside is that because this is such a nice hotel, room service and the food options at the hotel are completely overpriced. But that's the case almost everything in Venice from what we saw. If there was some more reasonable food and beverage options at this hotel i would have given it 5 stars

Coffee and a welcome bottle of Prosecco were also waiting for us. The view is really, truly right on the canal. It's fantastic but surprisingly quiet at night, likely due to the excellent windows We took the water taxi to the San Marco Square then walked back and it was about a 30 minute walk with beautiful shops and restaurants almost the entire way. Final note, the breakfast was a very good value with a diverse selection and excellent coffee. We recommend this hotel wholeheartedly.

The view is beautiful, and the terrace offers the perfect, outdoor, upscale, Venetian ambiance. We started with the garden tomato salad, which was good. The pasta with lobster was very fresh, delicious, perfectly cooked and seasoned. The sea bass was also very fresh, and gently seasoned to accentuate the freshness of the fish. It was delectable. The veal Milanese was good. The server's recommendation of wine was "spot on" and beautifully suited for our meal. Dining at the Gritti Palace Terrace is A MUST when you are in Venice. Is this restaurant pricey, YES, but the impeccable service, delicious food and unsurpassed view make it worth every euro! Although the staff did try to prevent this, and gave us a map of the city as well as recommendations. I think the main selling point for me was that with three travelers, we usually needed a queen and an extra bed, and the suite that we booked came with an extra bed in it's own separate little area that had it's own television (although we didn't use it, it was nice that it was there!). Plus, there were extra pillows and covers to make sure everyone was comfortable. Overall, a really lovely stay in Venice.

At the time I was Starwood Platinum, and I booked a King room with a view of the canal. As we checked in - after the train ride from Milan, the long water Vaporetto ride, and the cold walk from the square - the staff was quite friendly as they informed us ... I had been upgraded to a suite with a terrace on the top floor! Right across the canal from the room was the Basilica, with the Lagoon behind it and Lido off in the distance. The furnature was pure classical period style and the terrace was larger than my next room in Munich. Unfortunately it was February so the Terrace was of little use and some of the hotel facilities were not open. But it was fabulous anyway. Now, my stay may not be typical, not everyone gets upgraded to a $2,500/night hotel room. The location is great - easy walking to just about any part of Venezia. The staff was friendly and helpful. Not sure about wifi and connectivity - when we were in the room we weren't surfing the internet.
