Our Brisket fell thru for the Holiday Dinner. We tried several grocery stores with no luck at all…read more Yelp helped me find The Cut so I called. The Owner, Alex, answered and gave me some great information-- most importantly that he DID have a Brisket and he COULD accommodate our request. Whew!!! When I arrived, Alex showed me the meat and discussed with me the options for trimming off the fat and trimming it down to the size I desired. Alex's staff -- both the store personnel and the actual butchers -- were all friendly and helpful. Alex gave me a tour of the store and I bought a bunch of cheese, dried fruit, etc., while I was waiting for my USDA Prime Brisket to be ready! Such a nice store! Such nice people! Not the least expensive cut of meat I have ever bought ... but WOW!!! The meat cooked perfectly!!! This was literally the single BEST brisket I have ever eaten (and I have eaten a LOT of brisket in my life!)! I have subsequently heard from other people in the area that The Cut is well known for selling top quality meats. I look forward to going back for more soon! I strongly recommend The Cut Butchery for all your meat (and fish!) needs!

Welcome to Hollin Hall, The Cut!…read more This old-school butcher shop just had their grand opening and they offer fresh meats, such as beef, pork, lamb, poultry and other provisions. We were looking for steaks, particularly ribeyes and filet mignons; the meats look fresh and well-marbled, and I like how they partner with local farms! Staff were friendly, and there was plenty of parking available.

First time entering Makola Market, I received no greetings or assistance. I wanted to purchase a…read morelovely necklace, but never received help. So I only purchased two products for my immune system that totaled to almost $50. After, reaching home I noticed one bottle revealed an expired date. Day two, I returned the outdated product back to Makola Market. I told the male cashier that I purchased an outdated product. The cashier looked angry, snatched the bag, and said nothing. Then he angrily said "Put your card in." I thanked him and left. That was an odd experience. I would think I would be treated better for purchasing their products. The worst experience ever! This store really don't deserve any stars, but I have to give them at least one.

It was our last stop along this strip mall around the world, and I wanted to go in where the umber pungency of salted sea creatures beckoned. Eagerly, I dove in, surrounded by Africans chattering and provisioning. We walked past the neon bright refrigerated shelves, where the doors were open -- as I urgently passed by, the stoned eyes of the dried whole fish seemed to brighten. Quickly, I said, let's take a tour of the whole store, both aisles. In the back was a butcher with many feet in the counter. I can't remember the others as I mostly registered how big and CLEAN (that butcher is one heck of a pedicurist) the cow's hooves were. And I thought of how long they would have to cook in some delicious peanut sauce from West Africa, maybe Ghana (where the Makola moniker comes from?). I regret to say that we did not buy anything on this first scouting mission. But I'll go back and investigate further. So, if you need to know where to get hooves and such, now you know. I like knowing that it's possible.
