After a four hour train ride, and a short hop on a boat, we arrived in Ascono hungry. This was the first restaurant we saw (it was directly across from where we landed and had covered outside seating with a view of the lake), and had a crowd.
Long story short, it was a great choice. You'll love it! This is a traditional Italian style restaurant (Italy is about a mile down the coast), with a menu to match.
I had a four item pizza - it came with each item in its own quadrant. The crust was hand tossed, had an irregular shape, and was delicious.
My wife had Prescutto and melon. The ham was thinly sliced and very tasty, and the melon was very fresh and sweet. Of course we shared.
Bottled water (Pelligrino) for me and a Coke for her rounded out the meal. read more
