We booked the Junior Suite which can accommodate up to 4 adults and two children. The suite is very spacious with two bathrooms, ideal for a family. The hotel provided two baby beds and a diaper pail prior to our arrival. The huge balcony overlooks Lago Maggiore with the mountains in the backdrop, just amazing! Since The Belvedere is situated on the side of the mountain, the funicular nearby the hotel it super convenient and fun way to get down to the town, the lake and the train station (about 5 mins). It runs every 30 mins (more frequent in the summer). I do not recommend walking up (especially with a stroller) as the hilly streets are quite steep. The hotel offers a generous buffet breakfast to all guests! Add a gorgeous Veranda Restaurant with breathtaking views and you can ask for nothing more. The Oasis Spa had everything we were looking for. There's an indoor/outdoor heated swimming pool with a divider in the middle. There's also has a sauna, a laconium, a Turkish bath, and a very small fitness room. Another added bonus is babysitting service. You have to book in advance of course. We booked a sitter for 3.5 hrs on a Saturday evening so we can enjoy some private couple spa time and dinner. Overall, this hotel had just about everything we were looking for and needed. The Belvedere would be our first choice the next time we visit Locarno!

Giardino Lago has only 16 rooms, and the exceptionally attentive staff make every guest feel special. The rooms are cozy, but stylish and have all the best amenities. The cafe and restaurant are also both very good, though we found the breakfast (while fresh And delicious) a bit pricy. Other extras like bikes and standing paddle boards, are A terrific bonus. Ideally located alongside Lake Maggiore, it offers sweeping views of the lake and the surrounding mountains. Breakfast on the ground floor is complimentary in the morning. Bikes are also provided to guests at no charge - which is quite nice since the lakeside bike is almost entirely flat. If you're in the area and are looking for a well located, budget hotel, this is a good choice.

Since we were only staying one night (just a quick day trip from Stresa Italy) I wanted something within walking distance of the train (arrival) and ferry (departure) and the main square-just a few blocks as our timing was fortunate as the town was hosting an international film festival. As for the hotel, it's pretty small with 4 floors of rooms and three larger suites on the top (5th floor). We booked one of the top floor rooms which had a large double bed, huge private patio with electric sun shade, a separate sleeping room (also with a Murphy bed) and a good-sized bathroom with both tub and separate large shower. The furnishings were modern and the hotel seemed fairly new. Breakfast is included as well and had all the typical items-fruits, cheese, meat and breads and is available beginning at 7:00 am. Wifi on the 5th floor was very spotty going in and out from the 4th floor transmitter (no separate one on 5) but that was really the only difficulty during our short stay.
