The hotel was extremely difficult to find. It's located in a tiny square that is really difficult to locate between the tiny streets, but it makes for a very quiet place. It was located close to major squares (a 10 minute walk to San Marco square).
Very small room, no view out the window (it's side to side with a building). It was very dark. The bathroom had a smell, which was weak but very unpleasant).
They had very good breakfast (variety, yogurt, toaster, fruit, scrambled eggs, sliced sandwich meat, pastries, tea/coffee service). Hotel has a 24 hour reception.
The staff was friendly, but not very useful. The airline lost our baggage, and we asked the front desk person to check in on it for us (we figured he'd get farther speaking Italian). They didn't take any initiative. We reminded them every day to check, and even though they gladly did, they never checked on their own. We stayed there for 5 nights and our luggage was never found. They not once called the airline without us having to ask them.
The hotel is pricey, but the prices are similar to other hotels in the area. Venice is very expensive overall, so I would avoid staying there Friday, Saturday or Sunday nights as the prices for hotels tripple. When we were booking the hotel, we got a total price for the days that we wanted to stay there, but upon checkout when we got the itemized bill, the weekend nights were so expensive that if we knew ahead of time, we would have left earlier.
Bottom line: would not stay there again. read more
