I love beading and enjoy checking out the local bead shops. She had great quality beads at affordable prices. She, also, had local artist sell their jewelry there and I picked up a gorgeous set of beaded earrings. I am in contact with her now from California regarding some gorgeous sleeping beauty beads. Side note: There is another shop in town that has crystals, beads, and jewelry. From my experience, the locals may shop at US Bead Warehouse and the other shop is on strip mainly visited by tourists. But, I found my way to Jennifer's and I was a tourist. Who knows? Just pointing out that I saw more locals at Jennifer's who she knew by name and a ton of tourists at the other spot.

The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about their inventory and sourcing, and truly welcoming and hospitable to all ages. They reassured parents that children were welcome to hold pieces, touch them and get to know them in order to understand what they wanted to take home. I was curious what they kept in their glass shelves and was not disappointed by the selection of Lemurian quartz clusters from Colombia and delicate shells and carvings by local artists. I found an ideal chunk of pink tourmaline that I had been looking for. The price was perfect. I was grateful to bring it home to work with. Looking forward to returning.

She had sample work up on the walls and was carefully preparing a piece when I walked in, and there's a good selection of frames from which to select. I would happily visit here instead of a chain like Michaels to have expert framing done on important items. She said that shadow boxes are a common item that she does, which I hadn't thought about but would be really neat for things like ticket stubs and the like. It's 2020, and small businesses are struggling. This is one worthy of patronage. We made a quick selection but the owner was still tied up. We indicated what we wanted and that we would run an errand and come back in about an hour at which time she could give us a price for what we picked out. While I was there I spotted a cute and quirky print on the wall with a fun yellow frame. I indicated that I wanted to purchase this and took it off the wall. When we came back an hour later, the owner (Moira), had a price for us for a frame, a mat, and glass for the print. It was less than 100.00! Also, the print that I saw on the wall did not have a finished back, and in the hour when we were running errands, she removed the velcro that was used to hang it in the shop and put a proper paper back and a wire to hang it on with little corner pad protectors...without my asking and without charging me extra. Super nice! I live in Portland but have family in Florence and I will consider bringing my art down to this shop when I visit to have it framed down here! Also, her chip reader would not work with my card so she took my number down and said she would figure out how to run it manually in a day or so. I did not feel at all nervous about leaving her my card information and she charged it accurately and destroyed the number. Trusted merchant!

I think she may have been the owner, but I'm second-guessing myself a bit now. I was on the Charm Trail. We got to talking and somehow it came about that while I'm from Eugene I currently live in Chicago, and she happened to live in Chicago at one point, too. We also both worked at universities in the city. Just having a chat with her made it a fun stop. The store is very clean and has many of the art supplies one would need to create their next masterpiece--paper, canvases, paints, pens, you name it. They have information about workshops and art-related events as well. I am not much of an artist but I did do a paint night in grad school once and found it to be a lot of fun (surprisingly so--it was very soothing). That is to say, you may also find painting to be a relaxing activity, so if you've ever wanted to pick up the hobby, visit here and you'll good guidance from very helpful staff.
