I was researching this place while we were on the road and noticed they close at midnight. Unfortunately, we were expected to arrive just around that time. We arrived very close to midnight. I went inside to check in while hubs waited with our pup in the car. I noticed there were still people sitting and drinking in the bar so I inquired about the hours. The bar usually closes at midnight but since it was busy, the bartender decided to stay open later. We made our way to the room, set up the dog, and walked over to the bar. The bar is literally across from the check in counter so you cannot miss it. Our room was as far away from the main lobby but luckily there was a back entrance. We took seats at the bar and were the only ones sitting there. There were others sitting in lounge chairs. The bartender greeted us and took our orders. Hubs ordered a beer and I ordered a gin with diet tonic and lime. They had diet tonic and I was soooo excited! FYI-regular tonic water has a lot of carbs and sugar. Anyway, we started sipping our drinks and watching sports. We then engaged in conversation with the bartender. He is originally from up north and we were then comparing lifestyles, since we are from the north as well. We were in heavy conversation and the bartender didn't realize we were empty. He made our next rounds and continued in conversation. I believe we had a third round and cashed out. The tab was not too bad-somewhere around $45 with tip. They take cards and cash. Please tip him well if you go because he only makes money when people are there! I have this place bookmarked for future road trips!

yes, govan's is now open for business!!!!…read more I suggest you call ahead for hours of operation. We have been hermits during Covid because of health risks that we have. Now that we are vaccinated, we are beginning to venture out again. When we went to Govan's last night, we appreciated their focus on health safety, without making things feel repressive. It felt like coming home again being able to see our friends there, having a fantastic meal and a few laughs. One of the things I like best about Govan's is the friendly crowd that comes here.

As I waited for my food, I was suddenly engulfed by an entire group of locals. Now this place, is the mature crowd, and they were so nice they sort of took me under their wing! This is the epitome of down south hospitality. I've been holding out on coming to this place for a few years now, and looking back, I wish I would have came a lot sooner. Only about eight tables inside and they also have grocery items, including fruit and vegetables, candies, and baked goods. At first, we were gonna get get our items to go, but when we realized it would probably be hard to eat in the car so we stayed and had a wonderful meal. Did you really want to hear about the food: Salsa - fresh, mild kick, I would consider it more on that chunky side than the smooth side. Salsa - very thin, some more on the smooth side, but very tasty. Cucumber Pinapple Drink - refreshing, with a hint of the pineapple sweetness. Really delicious, and served in a small picture which threw me at first, but then I realized everybody else had them, and they were drinking through a straw. Problem solved. Tamarind Drink - not quite as refreshing as the cucumber, but the drink was good with that hint of tamarin flavor.. Burritto - serve with your choice of meat, it was enough to feed two people, two very large people. It also comes with fresh, cucumber and radishes, which was a really nice touch. We got ours with chicken and peach with our choice.. We decided to get a couple of the baked goods to go, so maybe I'll update my review after we give those a try in the morning. Great little fine.
