Shumai

Definitely a local favorite! We came after a menu change so we didn't get what we originally wanted but the food was still good. FYI: Bento boxes have been replaced with Bento bowls and Udon is gone. The California rolls are honestly the best! We also ordered the Monster Roll and Big Daddy rolls. Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference between the Monster and Big Daddy rolls so I think we will just choose one next time. The Shrimp tempura appetizer was cooked to perfection. We were underwhelmed by the Shumai appetizer. The service was great as usual. The servers are attentive and friendly. Definitely recommend!

Poke bowl + Cherry Blossom rolls

An easy 5/5 slam dunk! I would rate them higher if I could. I love going to Aji for their low prices, fresh sushi, and out-of-this-world food. I would especially recommend the Poke Bowl (~$13) and the Cherry Blossom rolls (~$9). The Poke Bowl comes with an assortment of fish (tuna, salmon, white fish) and the balance between fish, rice, and toppings (avocado, cucumber, "crunchies") is superb. The Cherry Blossom has tuna on top and salmon & avocado in the middle - scrumptious! There is a calming vibe to the restaurant with ample seating area. The decor is sleek, modern, and unobtrusive. I haven't tried using their bathroom, but I typically prefer my porcelain throne at home. Every time I come, the servers are always very prompt and friendly. You can tell they are college students so I always make sure to tip! I have no complaints - I only wish I could go a million times to try everything on the menu!

aji! one of the first good sushi spots i tried in when i was new to bcs and the OG local sushi restaurant i always come back to. personally my favorite aspects of aji are their lunch menu with nice prices for a selection of different rolls, as well as their sushi bowls! the unagi bowl, while a bit heavier on the rice than the eel, is huge and could even last you two portioned meals if you wanted! i like to get one bowl and then one or two rolls to split with whoever i'm eating with :) speaking to the quality of the rolls and fish, i have no complaints! everything comes out at a good temperature, has great preparation, and tastes nice. i will say, nowadays, i swing between aji if im feeling good quality rolls and bowls and sushi masa if i just want to enjoy all you can eat sashimi. but with the cost of sushi masa, aji is the OG and a great alternative for not overspending but still leaving full & satisfied with their great quality sushi! service is very friendly and helpful with suggestions, and the ambiance is very warm with good seating arrangements and decor. overall: 9.5/10 taste: 10/10 price*: 9/10 *depending on what you order, i'd call some rolls and certainly the sashimi more expensive than i'd buy, but for the items i order (bowls, lunch rolls, etc.) it's good :)

Happy Hour Sweet N' Spicy Snapper Roll

My experience at Aji was amazing! The quality of the food is great! The Spicy Salmon and Sweet and Spicy rolls were done so well. My server, Ethan was the highlight of my trip to Aji. He was very helpful with the menu and was always checking in to see if I needed anything. The music and atmosphere is simple and calm as well. I will be back!

I came here because I was really craving calamari, and while the calamari kind of disappointed, the lunch special did not! For 50% of the price I would have paid in Dallas or Boston, I got 70% of the quality at even larger portions. I can't expect amazing Asian food at college station, but this place was pretty good. Service was great, and it seemed like everyone was having a great time here.

Very balanced price and portions! For the poke bowl, you'll be quite surprised with how much food they give you. Fast and friendly service with a nice calm/warm atmosphere. Definitely give it a try!

I'm totally unfamiliar with the area so popped in for my lunch break to a random restaurant in the shopping center, and BOY OH BOY did I pick the right spot! The $14 sashimi lunch set was incredibly filling and had some of the nicest fish I've eaten in quite a while. I had to rush back to work, but I might pop by after to ask what that lil white fish was; it was delicious. My waitress was also very quick and kind, and overall I'd definitely eat here again!

I have been going to A Ji for years. I've experienced sushi all over, best sushi in Houston doesn't hold a candle to A Ji, right here in good ole CStat. I've tried every sushi place in the Brazos Valley multiple times (Blu Fin, Oishi, Naked Fish, 40 Tempura), I've tried them all, and more. Literally no one compares to A Ji. It's just the best. Period. From ANYWHERE. If you care about yourself, get the chefs special surprise roll and a nigiri flight. If you really care about yourself, get the truffle oil platter. It changes lives. Their salad is so crispy and the lettuce is so fresh, and the salad dressing is so indescribably perfect (not Mayo based...you'll want to drink it) and they have THE BEST miso. Everything is good. Service is always beyond satisfactory and the rolls are just the best in town (and maybe in America). To say this is a "hidden gem" would be an understatement. The ONLY thing negative you could possibly say is sometimes, especially on hot summer days, it's a little warm inside. So, if that is going to ruin your experience, go at night, when it's cooler. And just eat your sushi and experience the best sushi in town. Don't forget to start with the house salad and miso! Best part: you can get SO MUCH food and I PROMISE you, your tan won't be over $65. That's if you go absolutely crazy. Prices are so reasonable.

They offer a great variety--appetizers, fried rice, noodles, steak, chicken, shrimp, and plenty of sushi. To finish it off, they have dessert options like fried cheesecake or ice cream for that sweet-tooth craving. There is a 2-hour limit, but honestly, I've never needed more than an hour. It's definitely worth the money. The service has always been good as well, from the servers to the hostesses.

The place was packed for a Wednesday lunch, which is usually a good sign. Luckily, they've got bar seating, so I didn't have to wait long. The vibe is nice--modern, a little loud, but still easy enough to hold a conversation. Definitely feels like a spot that works well for small groups, though they could probably handle bigger ones with a reservation. My server was actually great--super attentive and doing their best. The issue was clearly coming from the kitchen. Orders got messed up twice, and it was taking 15+ minutes just to get a single roll. By the time everything got corrected, I had already been there for over an hour and had to ask for the check and head out. Food-wise, it's pretty standard AYCE sushi. The lunch menu is a lot more limited compared to dinner, so if you're going for variety (especially sashimi), dinner is probably the better move. Pricing is about what you'd expect, and the refillable soda is a nice bonus. Overall, not a bad spot, but not ideal if you're in a rush. If the kitchen can keep up with the volume, this place would be a lot more enjoyable.
