Alexa was meticulous in digging through my current resume and helping me find ways to make it stronger. She also provided great pointers and an outline for a stronger cover letter. Plus, a big part of her approach is setting up informational interviews with people in companies, industries and roles you're interested in and she graciously provided introductions to people in her own network. With my new resume I was able to land an interview at my next dream job, and once I finally landed an offer, I scheduled additional time with her to gather pointers on how to negotiate. I've been at my new job for almost two months now and could not be happier that I had Alexa's help to get me here. She's smart, fast and thorough, but also just fun to work with; I always felt like I was just brainstorming and strategizing with a friend.

When a job opportunity came along that fit those preferences, I knew it was the right move to take it. It is always hard to say where a job will come from, and when, or how you got there, but Alexa provided the tools I needed to dive into the job search and find a good fit.

I had the most positive experience with Ron and his Writer's Workshop!…read more About a year ago, I had the awesome privilege of hosting 7 very talented and wonderful people that I manage for work in Austin for a week of brainstorm, team building, and educational sessions. The memories made during our writer's workshop will be will cherished forever. It provided an opportunity for us to share our writing strengths all while allowing ourselves to be a little vulnerable, too. Ron was not only highly professional, he was thorough, prompt, and kind, too. Unsure what a writer's workshop would entail, I wasn't so much hesitant as I was curious, but also a tad anxious as my respect as a manager was hanging in the balance. As a new manager to these aforementioned, wonderful people I wanted them to explore their creativity, but also have a positive experience as a newly formed team with a new manager. And thanks to Roy and his workshop they did. We still talk about this workshop...not so much about what we wrote about, but how it made us laugh.

You don't have to do anything but show up for a couple of hours, and you will find yourself transforming your blank page into stories that you can't believe came from your pen. No critics, no judgement, no expectations or word counts - only the joy of creating with some really fun and interesting people. Writing workshop is a highlight of my week, and one of the reasons I never want to leave Austin. I was afraid I wasn't good enough to hang with "real" writers, but I'm so glad I decided to try it. So happy he's added a south Austin workshop too!

I hired Liz based on a recommendation and was excited upon our first meeting. During our initial…read moreconversation, She said everything that sounded perfect for a resume coach. However, her follow-through and words were empty promises. She told me she would get me all set up on LinkedIn, and then during the process, she informed me she couldn't do it because her browser remembers her password and wouldn't let her log in to LinkedIn to assist me. Her writing skill set needed to be updated; she didn't respond to me and failed to help me with LinkedIn. I would not recommend Liz; she is way overpriced and not worth the headache. I hired another person who was educated in ensuring keywords were present in my resume to get through the ATS screening process. Liz never even mentioned anything of the sort. Liz is a salesperson who needs to follow through and has questionable knowledge of current standards.

It pains me to write this review because Liz came HIGHLY recommended from several sources including…read morea personal friend, BUT the service I got was TERRIBLE. First, the website indicated that the price for a resume with less than 10 years of experience was $275 dollars. The price I was quoted was $400. Thinking this was a misunderstanding, I wrote Liz back saying I thought it would be $275. She stated she was changing her website and that her price was now set at $400. Understanding it can take a few hours to update a website and needing the perfect resume FAST I said that was OK, a bit high, but OK. The second issue came up with the deadline. We established a date 5 days ahead when the first draft would be available. 5 days passed. 6 days passed. On the 7th day I contacted Liz. I understand deadlines can be missed but at least TELL ME THAT! 5 days later I had my first draft. 12 days into the process. The first draft was HORRIBLE. She reworded the wrong resume (I sent her two so she had plenty of information to choose from as well as an example of what I did not want. She used the wrong one). Additionally there was information in the resume from ANOTHER CLIENT!!!! So we have the wrong resume, reworded and re-stylized (Exactly what I told her I did not want), with someone else's information, 7 days late. At this point I wanted a refund. There are no refunds given for her "service" and she assured me the resume would come out great after the interview process. The interview process was VERY GOOD. This is clearly where Liz shines. We talked for an hour and she identified some very crucial items from my job history. After the interview I received a new resume but only after I set the deadline. However it was still not what I expected. My job title is Support Engineer (A tier 3 support person). However 1/2 of my job is advocating for the client's position in the product development process. The other 1/2 is closing cases. I wanted the first half to shine and pop because I am trying to enter a product management / business analyst position. She could not do this nor understood what I meant. The resume also was 2 pages long which she assured me was OK and it did not have a Career Objective/What job do you want section. Again said this was OK and stated that is the job of the Cover Letter. So I wanted to see how the resume did. After 2 months of applying I have not had a single phone interview. I have written custom cover letters and used several internal connections to get my resume straight to the hiring manager. Also I was able to communicate with a couple of recruiters. I asked them about my resume. The first one said: "So you want to stay in tech support. Do you have UNIX experience? If so that definitely should be on your resume." Strike 1. The second recruiter immediately said: "You seem full of yourself when your resume is 900 words but you only have 4 years of experience" Strike 2. Various other recruiter friends said basically the same thing. You need a description of the job you want and you need to limit this to one page. OK, so I send Liz an email about what I heard back. According to the service if you are not satisfied contact her back and she'll keep at it up to 6 months after the initial resume. I have not heard back from Liz. Strike 3: you're getting a bad review. Summary: To me it seems Liz is very used to dealing with C-level people. She is very good at executive speak. However, she does not communicate effectively with her clients especially about expectations. If you say 5 days it better be 5 days or at least tell me you will be late. I felt she was way too busy to care about my resume. The fact that she used the wrong one and had OTHER PEOPLE'S information in my resume was a HUGE RED FLAG! The other fact that recruiters (The people who read resume's day in and day out) chewed up her work in a matter of seconds was another flag. The last fact, she assured me the resume would work despite my concerns, to me shows she is not used to working with non C-Level employees. In conclusion, if you are not a C-Level employee think twice. I definitely feel this service was not worth the $400 dollars I paid.

About a week later, I was put in touch with one of their "senior-level writers" who called me for a brief interview. Although I had shared both a long-form and short form version of my current resume in addition to my LinkedIn profile, it was clear that my resume writer had not reviewed anything at all before our conversation. While she was very personable, she struggled to understand basic technical terms and concepts and could not offer any appreciable advice on what she expected to improve, but I decided to try and trust the process. About 15 days after paying for services, I received my first draft which was simply a typographical reformat of my existing resume riddled with broken English, misspelled words, and poor grammar. The writer had simply cut and pasted the bullets I'd written together, while attempting to cut out random words to make sentences shorter. The resulting product was nonsensical, shoddy, and embarrassing in every sense of the word. I took a few days to reflect on the best path forward, then contacted the company to explain that it was clear they were not headed in the right direction. I explained that I thought it would be fair to offer partial payment for time already expended, but did not wish to continue with my writer. I was immediately put in contact with the company president Jeremy who spent the next month exchanging emails with me about all the things he was doing to fix the situation, going as far as to personally rewrite my resume himself. Over the 12 emails we exchanged during that month, I continuously asked to see the file he was creating, but he continued to brush me off and produced excuse after excuse. Finally, after receiving no files, no drafts, not even a snipped of text from Jeremy, he told me to keep in touch on my results and stopped responding entirely. Literally. Never. Received. A Resume. I have now contacted the company dozens of times requesting status updates, asking about my LinkedIn review, and literally begging for anyone to explain or engage about actually delivering on any of the things I paid for. I have lost 50 days of my time trying to get the service I paid for, and now I am being completely ghosted, and have resorted to writing my resume myself. Avoid this company like the plague, check the other reviews here on yelp, don't get scammed.
